Presumably won't see him before the international break, but with a new manager and a 'new', talented CB, hopefully the next few months should be exciting if nothing else.

Could've predicted when he got injured that he would never play under Ten Hag.

Great news, that. Looking forward to seeing him play.

Hopefully he's been able to do some of the non-football settling in during his lengthy time out.

My hope is that what I am seeing is a player that can do all the things a modern CB now has to do, but has the defensive awareness and robustness of eras gone by. A true defender with the ability to play ball. Rather than a baller with the ability to defend. I've watched so much of this kid, and he truly looks an elite level talent. In fact, I consider him the most exciting defensive talent since Ferdinand. But he's going to need time. And lots of it. Meaning patience. Which fans aren't good at. Mistakes will happen, but if we give him the time and support he needs to grow and develop his game....boy....what a player we will have in 3-4 years. I really think he has all the tools to be one of the best defenders of his generation. No pressure then.....

We need to set the right expectations for this guy. I could be wrong, but I don’t think there was any CB below 20 years old who played any minute at all in the PL last season.

The Liverpool guy, Quansah, isn't he 20?

He’s the best defender in the world, I’m sure of it. We will concede no goals with the trio of Yoro, Martinez and de Ligt.

Kambwala did for us!
You’re right! Kambwala did play for us before he was 20, but I think Quansah was older than 20 at his PL debut. Could be wrong. But my point is that a lot of people expect him to be a top class CB right away. Maybe he will, maybe it takes time, maybe it never happens.

Fingers crossed… but let’s first see if all those three will be available at the same time.

Is this fella quick? Because we have 5 slow CBs and desperately need some recovery pace in there.

He's the luckiest player we have in that he didn't have to endure the chaos that came with actually playing under Ten Hag. He might as well have been bought for Amorim.

Funny that we signed him as an 18 year old and he’ll be making his competitive debut at 19 years old.

Probably happens quite often considering the length of the transfer window

He is. He's not a Van deven but he has recovery pace. He's also very good positionally and plays with control.

VdV has an insane top speed but rather average mobility and acceleration. I'd rather our wide defenders have alright top speeds but good acceleration.

Personally I expect him to start this weekend. Understand the need to be careful but it will be 3 weeks of full training he'll have had and Amorim will have a better look and chance to work with him this week than most. The aim will be probably to get an hour out of him

If he can stay fit he should have the perfect attributes for the RCB role in Amorim's back three, exciting to have him back.

I sincerely hope he's eased in gradually to avoid getting another perma-crock on our hands. Will be exciting to see him coming off the bench for a few cameos over the next month, with the odd start thrown in if we get drawn against lower-league opposition in the FA Cup.

To be fair it was a metatarsal injury so once healed (it’s had a lot of healing time) he should be able to train full pelt and start games ASAP

I hope so! I still have bad memories of Rooney's repeated metatarsal injuries, so forgive my conservatism with a very promising youngster.
