Kylian Mbappé | Player Performance Thread

I think those hands on the hips said a lot about how he's feeling being at Monaco. Must be frustrating having all that talent and feel it bleed unstoppable because the club can't match your ambitions. He should talk to his staff and push for a move this summer while he's still hot.

What are you even trying to say??

WUM? Ambition? He's playing in the CL semi finals.
Yes, a lot of teams have managed to get to the semis without being a huge club. Within 3 years this Monaco will be gone - MONEY MONEY MONEY. Only a big club with big ambitions and the biggest talents will be able to constantly compete for these sort of trophies. Monaco had a nice run, now they're really playing against the big guys, and comes up short.

Let me guess, he should move to United?

I understand all that but reading your post you'd think he'd found himself in a nothing club about to be relegated...all because he put his hands on his hips.

I suspect this group of players believe they can achieve something very special and unexpected. I don't think they'll be thinking about transfers in the moment during a huge game, the biggest of their lives.

Mate, you sound like google translate. You've been here 11 years or so. You should know basic punctuations and how to format your posts. Jesus.

Ah yes, the body language experts are in.

Brazilian? He has, maybe not the magic but the speed, acceleration, control, sharpness, finishing and positioning is so similar.
Well, it was the magic that separated R9 from hundreds of others. He is a great talent but is notably behind R9 at that age (like any youngster ever bar Pele)

It's hardly an unlikely move. We have great business contacts with Monaco (Evra, Falcao, Martial) and I'm sure Woodward knows what number to dial tonight. You sound extremely bitter. Is shit becoming reality for you now?

To me he just comes across as an over enthusiastic young player trying to prove a point, a little bit like Rashford. I still think its way too early to know his true potential.

That combination of movement, speed and technique puts him far above Rashford and most other 18 year olds of his generation and others.

He's fecking fearless. Reminds a bit of Rooney in that sense at his age. He just went out and played. It's so refreshing to see.

Lukaku? remember he debuted as top scorer in Belgium at the tender age of 16. He also scored some in Europe too in the season he only turned 17. People need to chill on Mbappe a bit and let him play for more than 6 months and prove himself for longer

Bitter about what? I'm not the only poster who thinks you're talking utter nonsense. Are they all bitter too?

He looks unhappy at Monaco because they're not matching his ambition? I'll say it again, he's about to win a league title and is in the CL semis. What he needs now is game time, his best bet is staying at Monaco. Not moving to a big club and going the way of Renato Sanches.

Can you imagine us buying him, and then by 21 people already saying he'd had his best days

I'm not sure. To be fair we've went through shite few years just now. When we signed Ronnie and Rooney, we always knew they were bound for greatness. Honestly, we need to get these players, whatever the cost. They're once in a generation and if we want to be the club we perceive to be, we need to at least go for these players.

Agree. It's just what it'd do to Rashford if we bought a striker who is younger than him! Would probably be a huge killer to him. Whereas getting a finished article type, would give him every chance.

That's if you believe a player can really develop without continual exposure to the first team in the position they'll be best in. ie not shunted out wide.

I don't necessarily see it that way. It's really difficult to tell what will happen in terms of development of other players, but I know for sure Mbappe would improve United and Rashford. If Rashford is a determined young lad, who wants to succeed, a more talented kid coming into the team won't affect him. It'll make him better. For all we know they could strike up a brilliant partnership ala Cole and Yorke.

Honestly, as Sir Alex always said if a world class player becomes available - you go for it - and worry about it later. Whatever happens, it will benefit the team. I love Rashford, but I love United even more, and if Mbappe takes Rashfords place, in an unlikely scenario, then so be it.

Don't feed him.

Yep, can't disagree with the United is the bigger picture bit.
The only thing post Fergie that seems an improvement is that we're now able to pay the biggest fees and wages, which we either couldn't, or wouldn't before.

At the last bit. That would actually make a decent thread, I can't understand for the life of me why we didn't spend. Was it down to SAF and Gill or Glazers? It must have been to Sir Alex, as Glazers are still here.

Nah, Mbappe will go for at least 90m. Every top club in Europe wants him and the price will sky rocket.

Bidding wars happen in football very rarely, if ever (though it could with him).

If 10 clubs want a player they'll all generally have an idea of what they'll pay. There's a tacit collusion too, via the agent.

Remember that while an agent may get a cut of a transfer fee (in this case the kids dad is his agent. That could go one of two ways I guess. Greed or common sense) They do however get an indefinite cut of his salary. Having 10 clubs involved at 50m and doubling his weekly wage and sign on fee can yield more cash in the long run.

The point of difference on the club bidding front would be the payment arrangements. If he goes for say 60m, any club with cash reserves that allowed them to pay that immediately would obviously be at the front of the line.

But the point is moving to United right now could hardly be considered an ambitious move.

Got doubled up and suffocated of space. Struggled to do anything of note all game. Is Mbappe mania over? Time to go to the Dybala thread.

Sure you watched the game? Whenever he got the ball he usually did something good with it. Beat his man a couple of times.

It could be... with our history, plus united making moves for big things to happen in the short and long run (hopefully), anyone who joins this summer should be thinking they will be apart of something soon to be great again

"To move only for some future goal is shallow. It's the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the top." - Eric Cantona.

Do people actually think he actually had a poor game tonight? Everything came through him tonight. He made Barzagli look like a mug a couple of times, tonight. Okay he didn't score with a couple of chances that he had but they weren't sitters. I thought he was really good again tonight against the best defence in Europe!

In the first half, when they could get the ball to him he had the best defence in the world on toast. He's a really amazing player, anyone would be fortunate to have him.

this is the board that has decided that Griezmann is unequivocally shite after one bad game against the strongest team in the world even though he has shined for years

The fact he is only turns 19 in december means if we buy him now, he will become a homegrown player in time.

This guy is special. No doubt about it. He is already showing more than what martial had shown. He is also way more 2 footed and alot more elegant technically. He is also comfortable playing on the right something martial still isnt. I dont think we can afford to pass on him. if need be i would loan martial out.

He only has 2 years left on his contract, but the ability to have him as a homegrown player is worth a premium on his valuation. right now i think he is worth 60 pounds, but the homegrown bit is worth atleast 10 more maybe more plus add ons. Monacos hundred pounds valuation is steep and too much, but just like martial if we can structure the last 30 to 40 million as add ons over 4 to 6 years we should do the deal.

Considering juve have the best defence in the world, and Monaco as a team we're pretty bad today, I thought first half especially he was excellent.

The movement on the cross Buffon saved showed exactly what I like about him. Yes he's lightning fast but he's very quick in the brain too. He moved before the ball came in, that's something our current forwards don't do.

Add in his dribbling and speed and you've got 1 hell of a player.

Rashford and mbappe uptop, Martial +1 either side

Very true, the thing is though our wide players hardly ever put in early balls. It will be something he would also struggle with if he came here under the current setup. You will see him stop making said runs after getting pissed off about balls not coming in
