Doesn't matter about his level, matters about his style.

Macheda's a lot less one dimensional and I don't think a one dimensional player is what we need, even if he is very good at scoring goals.

And I think we lacked creativity last season, rather than not being clinical enough.

Ive watched Huntelaar play in a couple of games. Ok his workrate is not as good as Rooneys and his dribbling is not like Ronaldo's but I cant see the difference between his workrate/creativity and Macheda's.

Let me also remind you that Macheda comes from the italian football where the punta (lead the line striker) is specialised only in scoring. In Italy a lead the line striker is not expected to do nothing but put the ball inside the net The rest is a bonus. In fact some of the best punte in the Serie A happened to be amongst the laziest players ever. I haven't watched Macheda well enough to judge him yet, and yet from the little that I have seen he is the typical Italian striker.

Kiko's style is nowhere near that of the typical 'punta', at least not as described by you. Huntelaar is a decent player, not top klaas, but he'd offer something we lack and he's probably worth 15 million in today's market. He'd be a solid enough 3rd striker and due to his style I can't see him standing in the way of Welbeck and Macheda long term (whereas a 40 million quid Benzema might). However, if we bring in Huntelaar and no other striker this summer, I kinda feel that any success next season is totally dependent on Berba's ability to step up. And that's a bit scary.

Or you can buy KJH use him for few years till Macheda man up. And sell KJH for 17 mln in 2012. So you woud make 2 million profit.
 
I all honesty I am not a fan of the hunter but he is probably better than Macheda will ever be

Huntelaar is a very good player, not my favorite, I just dont think Macheda will reach his level, dont get me wrong I sure as feck hope he does and surpasses him

Its too early to say that Macheda is a sure thing to sustain a goalscoring record like Huntelaar's for as long as Huntelaar has, but I don't think its that unlikely he'll reach that kind of level. He's already shown enough though to make me think he has every chance of being a more rounded centre forward than the Hunter - better workrate, more skillful in holding the ball up and bringing others into the game. Plus of course if that goal against Villa and the hat trick for the reserves is anything to go by, he seems to be an intuitively brilliant finisher just like Huntelaar.

Anyways, was just wondering what you based your opinion on - wasn't having a go at you.
 
I don't rate Huntelaar at all. just look at the other "goal a game" players currently in the Preniership that were brought in from their goal sprees in Holland. Two of those players: Alves and Kuyt. Just because you score a shedload in the Dutch league doesn't necessarily mean you're a great player

Doesn't necessarily mean you aren't either! In all fairness, Kuyt has been really good for Pool this season and with Alves I feel it's more a case of motivation and poor team-mates

Huntelaar didn't do too poorly for Real this season either

If you forget for a minute the two crucial goals scored (which were amazing), you'll notice that Macheda did little worth to mention. Mind you Im not critizing the kid, I mean that the type of game that he is used to. Im just saying that you don't place a player like him to create or work for the ball, you play players like him to have someone to put the ball inside the net.

He works his arse off for the ball and he's brilliant at bringing others into play. Even if you've only seen his 5 games for the first team, you're still selling him short. His movement was excellent against Villa, he showed a bit of creativity at Wembley and his strenght and aggression, all over the final 3rd, were there for all to see every second of every game.

Im not selling him short. That's the problem with you guys. A lead the line striker is there to score the goals. Anything else should be considered as a bonus. Whats the point of having a lead the line striker who runs like a headless chicken, if he cant put the ball inside the net?

Now Macheda's movement is that of a traditional italian style lead the line striker. He may 'show a bit of creativity' and drop deep once in a while but everything is planned by him to score the goal. And no, Tevez works his arse off for the ball and not Macheda. BTW thank God for that I mean, lead the line strikers are there to score goals and not to run in midfield like possessed men.

Any neutral would tell you that Huntelaar is a much better player then Macheda is (at least at the moment).
 
I think Kiko should be given a chance, if we end up splurging on Tevez.

One striker is enough this close season, and if we don't buy Tevez, Huntelaar is not the answer anyway. Benzema on the other hand...

A good lead the line striker is also there to hold the ball up and bring others into play. Anyway, this post is alright (apart from the 'that's the problem with you guys' part. Lord knows what that's supposed to mean). And who said Kiko is better than Huntelaar? I certainly didn't. But if he keeps his feet on the ground and stays clear of injury, he will be.

Btw; good movement and working hard for the ball doesn't equal Tevez.

You should probably look at his record for Real Madrid before making that judgement.

Very rarely do players do very well in the Eredivisie and La Liga, and not do well here.

Yes, we know that. Macheda's good at scoring goals, he also gives us the bonus of being quite useful in terms of interplay, movement and workrate.

Huntelaar is very good at scoring goals, he doesn't bring anything else to the team.

It's time to realise that one dimensional strikers just aren't successful for top teams any more.
 
I'm not saying he'll be better than Huntelaar, or be good enough for us in the long-term, I'm just saying I don't think one dimensional players work at top clubs and that's why I'd rather have someone like Macheda, who isn't one dimensional.

I'd love for KJH. Doesn't matter if he's "one dimensional" because we have enough creativity as it is. Macheda is a good few years before he can even be considered a third choice striker, regardless of his style. Its like saying throw any u-16 player in the first team because they have a better style than Huntelaar. What impact with they have though?

Not quite. But I agree, Macheda is at least another season away from being a reliable part of the striker rotation. As is Welbeck. The way I see it, between the 2 we've got our 4th choice striker for next season, with Danny getting a few games on the wings as well.

Tottenham Hotspur and Roma have both been linked with the Dutchman, despite the player only arriving in Madrid in January.

However, Arnold Oosterveer, the player's representative, has denied there being any truth to claims he is on his way out of the club, stating no clubs have made an approach for the hitman.

“I have not met Florentino Perez and Jorge Valdano yet, but he is under contract for four years and is part of Real Madrid’s plans,” Oosterveer revealed to Calcio Mercato.

“We haven’t been told anything by the directors and no meeting has been planned with them.

“I haven’t been contacted by Roma. No team have asked for Huntelaar and all the rumours come from the press, including in England.”

It promises to be a busy summer at White Hart Lane, with Daniel Levy, the Tottenham chairman, expected to hold talks with Real Madrid on Monday about Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Ruud van Nistelrooy, their Dutch forwards, who are available for transfer.

Huntelaar left Ajax for £19 million in January, but has been unhappy in Madrid. He would prefer a move to a Champions League club, such as Arsenal or Manchester United, and has four years left on his contract.
