Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Now that Ronaldo is gone we will need someone who can lead the line. Berbatov isn't that sort of player. Huntelaar may not be my first choice but he can provide that. What's the point in having players who drop deep and create chances if they dont know how to put them in the net?

If he's Rooney's "perfect" partner, why isnt he your first choice?

I agree we need to add a more clinical element to the side - I felt that even with Ronaldo, now we're starving for it - but we dont need a player who only finishes chances. There are players who finish just as well but also provide much more for the side.

He's the type of striker we're lacking in my opinion. I would only have him at OT if Tevez leaves, simply because we don't need both.

But could we fit Huntelaar into a starting line-up with Rooney & Berbatov?

Huntelaar has been around for a couple of years but still hasn't been proved on major leagues and international stage.

I prefer Pogrebnyak, would be much cheaper.

Not a single link in the whole thread.
My money's on "complete bollocks"
To be fair I talked to a Real Madrid supporter online just a couple of minutes ago and he confirmed the same radio station that reported the Kaka deal first also reported the bit about Huntelaar. Not sure if any of this is true, but there is certainly a (it seems) decent source.

Simple because there are players who are excellent finishers but can provide more to the team then Huntelaar. Unfortunately none of these players would cost us 15m (and god knows at what price they will be available).

Cadena SER are very reliable.

Gimme a fecking break.

We have at least £80m to replace the best player in the world with (or one of the top 3 players in the world before someone decides to be a smartarse) and we go for Huntelaar? Either it's crazy business or an idiotic rumour.

I'd give him a go !

Fergie could do a great job getting him on the run again !

impressive stats ?
2003–2004 → AGOVV (loan) 35 (26)
2004–2005 Heerenveen 46 (33)
2005–2009 Ajax 92 (76)
2009– Real Madrid 20 (8)

If this is true, then I would've thought that Huntelaar is being brought in to replace Tevez, not Ronaldo.

Got the stats of his team mates scoring goals with him in the side?

He would be a good signing for Spurs, West Ham, Fulham, Everton, not for us

I would prefer to give confidence to Macheda, Welbeck, saving money for something else

What's the story behind your username?

This is the first post of yours i've seen and you're quite notorious when we make threads about worst names.

well my cousin registered with it and gave it to me when he decided to support Real Madrid instead, cus he couldn't bare watching United without Becks, even tho he actually registered four months after we sold him :wenger:

I just didn't want to go through the newbies forum again with a new username. and I have to admit tat I didn't think it was tat bad...

I'm guessing this cousin is of the female persuasion?

If not I feel deeply sorry for them.

I'd much rather have Macheda, a finisher who can actually play a bit, than Huntelaar in this team.

Complements both Berbatov and Rooney, likewise for Welbeck, Huntelaar doesn't.

We'll still have them in the squad and we will be adding a goalscorer

They'll get a lot more chances without Huntelaar being here.

I just don't like the idea of having a pure goalscorer here with Berbatov, too static.

Basically I like my players to run around a lot. Not really, but you would've just said that anyway.

Our team's lacking pace now that Ronaldo's gone. If we're going to get a finisher he might as well be able to stretch the defence too.

Hopefully we get that on the wing, we are going to have to be more aggressive as an attacking side as we won't have Ronaldo and Rooney axis to make up for the lack of creativity on the other flank and central midfield

currently United dont play to his strengths

we would need to go back to 442 with 2 wingers crossing the ball into the box

I wouldn't talk about his abilities or anything like that, but I suppose the one thing you could say about Huntelaar joining United, is that he's one player who wouldn't be looking to go to Real Madrid in the future!

Huntelaar has been around for a couple of years but still hasn't been proved on major leagues and international stage.

He's got 13 goals in 23 internationals, and 8 in 20 matches in Spain, which is not bad considering he joined mid-season, after injury, and that Real just went dead during the last few matches. I'm not sure he's got the all around game that can suit us, but so far he's done the job every time he needed to step up a level.
