Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

That's absolute nonsense.

It's not though. Is it. You haven't put forward a single argument that he wasn't a flop there, other than 7 goals in 20 games which is hardly ground breaking.

Why was he shipped out after such a small period of time if he was doing well there?

Because it's Real bloody Madrid!

How can you be a flop when you arrive to a new club, from the dutch league, after an injury, and score a decent amount of goals in your first half season? Well, you can be, in the unusual language of Real Madrid. A success? You can't become a success in just four or five months. And it takes something a hell of a lot bigger in order to become a flop as well.

Find him all the excuses you want. It doesn't change anything.

You're right, it doesn't. He wasn't a success, he wasn't given enough time to be one. But he hasn't done badly enough to be a flop, either!

I watched a lot of him there, he flopped, fair enough he may have eventually done well if given more time but he was seriously poor in a Madrid shirt during the time he was there.

Schalke will either make or break him. So far it looks like it looks good for him.

........ Flopped in Spain.

13 starts & 7 sub appearances resulting in 8 Goals is a flop? In 5 months, in a new league, after injury?

He's made the right move going to Germany. He'll fill his boots in a second rate league and still get Champions League football every season.

In Real Madrid? Seriously? You think a Sneijder for example flopped there before he was sold quickly?

How exactly are Sneijder and Huntelaar comparable? I haven't looked it up but i'm sure Sneijder made significantly more appearances than Huntelaar.

I'm not saying the fact he flopped at Madrid and Milan makes him a bad player, btw. Just that, perhaps, it shows he's not in the top drawer that some of you guys seem to think he is.

Apparently Spurs were after him in the Summer. That's about his level.

Not the point. You are claiming Real wont sell you quick if you are doing well.

His record speaks for itself. Give him service you get goals. He has scored where ever he has played. Even for sides in which he was marginalized and under used. He is a top notch goal getter. Ala Inzaghi he would survive any where service is.

Apparently Spurs were after him in the Summer. That's about his level.
No. Players like that tbf have no level. They'd score at any level. He is the type who would score for a Chelsea and us as much as he'd score for the ones on the opposite end of the table.

Bent is another of that type as is Inzaghi. Goals is there business.

So by that logic Dirk Kuyt is capable of getting over 25 goals in a season in Italy?
No. By your logic. Huntelaar went to Italy, played mostly as a sub in a declining and weak Milan side and still scored goals. Has scored goals in La liga and the Bundesliga. In the champions league and UEFA cup. Plus at all levels of international football. That is the logic I'm using.

192 goals in 303 club appearances

24 goals in 39 international appearances.

Oh yes. What a new low......

The new low is resorting to pointing out Huntelaar's fantastic goal record in ................. Holland. Simply, he didn't cut it for 2 of the biggest clubs in the World in 2 of the best leagues in the World.

I'm sure he'll go on to do very well in Germany.

Well I've done no such thing. I've instead alluded to the blatant fact he has scored in every league he has played in. On top of having an international and continental.

Simply, he didn't cut it for 2 of the biggest clubs in the World in 2 of the best leagues in the World.
Bullshit.

BTW, Schalke have had their worst start to the season for years. They are second from the bottom.

He's found his level and he should stay there.

FM Fanbois can harp on all they want. Fact is, top clubs did buy into the hype and he had his chances but for whatever reason he was never able to convince them he was good enough.

I still do Inter level. For me he is the best finisher out there bar none.

One thing calling Huntelaar the best finisher out there - and his shots-to-goal ratio is consistently among the very best - another entirely comparing him with Muller. A phenomenen who won 3 European Cup Finals (scoring in 2 and assisting the winning goal in the other) and scored in (and won) a World Cup final and a Euros final.

When he comes on a free transfer and a pay as you play contract I will be the first one cheering his name.

Exactly. It's a daft argument. Of course Huntelaar is better than Michael Owen but Michael Owen is 4th (maybe even 5th) choice at the club.

In terms of the way he finishes the comparison is not off at all.

Sir Alex Ferguson Turns Attention to £15m Dutch Striker

Manchester United are reportedly giving up on signing Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan but will turn their attentions to his international teammate Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Football website Footylatest.com claims United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has identified Huntelaar as the ideal addition as he continues to spend heavily on improving his squad ahead of the start of the new season.

The Premier League champions have already outlaid over £50m on winger Ashley Young, defender Phil Jones and goalkeeper David de Gea but Ferguson is determined to bring in a new striker.

The success of Wayne Rooney's partnership with Javier Hernandez last season marginalised Dimitar Berbatov, who seems increasingly likely to leave Old Trafford.

His exit will leave United short of forward options and with Ferguson a long-term admirer of Dutchman Huntelaar, a move could be expected in the coming weeks.

The 27-year-old recently declared his loyalty to current club Schalke, although they did not qualify for next season's Champions League.

However, if United make their interest known it would be difficult for Huntelaar to resist a move to England and to a club fighting every year for trophies.

An offer in the region of £15m is thought to be enough to tempt Schalke into selling and it would just be a question of whether Huntelaar would be prepared to move to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, it appears United are set to miss out on Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri who seems set to join rivals Manchester City along with teammate Gael Clichy.

So despite the fact he's been going to progressively worse clubs and doing feck all, we're going to swoop in and pay 15m for a bloke not far off 28? I doubt it somehow.

We've been linked with him since 2006. I would have liked to see him sign in either 2007 or 2008

However, If Berbatov was to leave I'd take him as a backup striker

Around 2-3 years ago i was adamant that we should buy him.

Now? Not much point. That said I think he would do well in the prem and if he had made the move earlier on in his career instead of joining the Madrid circus he would have become one of the leagues top strikers, for a team like us or maybe spurs.
