The alternatives are shite. We had ton of injuries. I mean we gave Ole 3 years …

I’d keep him for another one at least .

I always wanted our other managers to move on when I didn't see them turning it around. Damage done.

With ETH I do still think there might be potential there. Sounds weird to say coming off our worst league campaign ever, but I just "feel" like he might get it right given one more chance

But based on the season he does deserve the sack, so I think I'm basically okay whatever happens.

Delighted with the send off for a manager who I don't think is good enough but has been professional and respectful.

We still need to look in another direction and that would have been the same if we had of won 8-0 today. Unfortunately the football has been hideous for 3 quarters of his time here.

Either way not the day to talk about it too much and congratulations, brilliant day.

I remember almost 75% wanted Ten Hag out a few weeks back. Now more than 50% want him in. The swing is quite emotional tbh. Very happy for Ten Hag and hope he stays (a position I've been maintaining) but whatever decision, I hope the club makes it rationally.

I’ve been swinging all over the place. ETH is a good dude. Tactically naive though. I don’t know. I said keep but if we have a better plan then so be it

Don't think this matters, reckon he's already gone.

But for what its worth I wouldn't want him kept. There's a reason we're 8th and have broken many unfortunate records, and its not all down to injuries either. Glad he's leaving on a high, but let's leave it at that and move on.

Today was about tactics. Like the saying about a broken clock being right twice a day, our strengths were effective in this game. Park the bus, long ball over the top, rely on pace. It was classic Ole ball. But you can't play like that all the time, and today certainly wasn't the first time we've done it. The difference is today we got a result, and people think it was something new, but it wasn't. We just usually take a loss but not a hammering and it doesn't get spoken of much.

Funnily enough we are more effective in big games when forced into this gameplan, but all over the place when we are the ones who have to open up and play.

Overhauling the playing squad has to be the priority in terms of spending money. If there's enough cash left to sack him appoint a better replacement (who?), then go for it.

You judge managers on the league and we have been dreadful. Two cups in two years is good going but it’s better for both sides if we part ways.

I genuinely don't know. His replacements Southgate/McKenna aren't exactly inspiring but I also don't think Ten Hag is good enough.

You'd be a brave man to sack Ten Hag only to bring in McKenna. That seems a bit of a head scratcher.

Would any of the other big clubs sack a manager who has won 2 cups in 2 years and been to 3 Wembley finals?
Would any other top clubs sack a manager who handed them their worst PL finish in history, 31 years.

He wouldn't get another performance like that out of those players.

The main problem isn't even that he finished 8th, it's that we played like the 15th best team in the league most of the season.

Which is a massive issue, it means that the manager's added value isn't there.
Because the team is better with better players it means the manager is shit? I’d be dying to see a Pep team with AWB, Casemiro at centre back, 36 year Evans, one 20 year old striker available all season.

He’s been too stubborn, but do you think McKenna does better with that team? Maybe Southgate? He needs another year.

What exactly makes him a good dude? His position regarding Overmars points to a different direction.

I'd keep him at least for the first few months of next season to see what he does with a fit squad. Only two conditions for me:

1. He shouldn't be too involved in transfers
2. We need to clear out at least 7 players but ideally more

The players are playing for him, and we've seen we can do better when we have our best players. In the right setup he could do well. The alternatives are not that impressive anyway.

Keep him.

* I might regret starting this thread tomorrow.

Give him till Christmas.

I think this is a good point. The players can obviously play like this as a one off but long-term? Probably not.

If we keep him then we must give him a new contract. Its as simple as that

Managers and Players should always be judged on league performance as anyone can have a decent cup run.

How many times have we seen players signed based on brilliant World Cup performances only to revert to the dross they were before afterwards.

19 shots conceded today. You cannot keep doing that and expect to win anything.
And how many were from outside the box? Haaland’s shot onto the bar and the Alverez one were the only decent chances I can remember.

Dalot said in his interview the dressing room had a completely different atmosphere today and he could feel everyone wanted to give their best.

Bit awkward that only happens after the squad realise the manager is leaving.

Right now I'm drunk and basking in the sun in Florence with a load of United fans in an Irish Bar but...

You have to be consistent. We finished 8th in the PL and bottom of our CL group.

No, but I also wouldn't mind if they did. As long as the structure changes and he, or anyone else, is merely a coach and do t oversee everything else at the football club, I am okay.

People voting yes are drunk.

I am also drunk but still realize we only won by playing Ole-ball.

These last 3 games have been like someone else making the team selections. Completely against his nature for the past 2 years.

Real madrid have sacked managers after they won the league or CL.

Eth got his tactics right today and did well to win the FA cup and his second trophy.

However this win is still a nice end to a terrible season and is not indicative of any sort of progression overall.

Overall, i opt for letting him go although it’s not the worst if he were to be around next season for the first few months to see if there’s a chance he could turn things around.

Who can manage those injury with thin squad to top 4......
Also, we have 17 different combination of CB this season, which is the highest number of 20 teams...and ETH is only available to call up Varane and Martínez together in 11% of the whole season..
