That's what he says but he's only going to say what makes him look the best. If he tried and failed to convince Venables or someone else and had to give SAF more time because he had no other options he's hardly likely to admit it given what happened afterwards.

It's possible. We can only use the information we had. I believe a lot was said about how Charlton saw Fergie's work behind the scenes and was a big supporter of his.

@NWRed it isn't 1990 anymore and ETH isn't Sir Alex for fecks sake

Hoping every manager turns into the messiah because a one off like Sir Alex did it, is very naive.

True but the same people will show a screenshot of an old starting 11 under sir Alex playing with no CBs and criticize ten Hag for not doing better during an injury crisis this season…

Still struggle to see him improving. I acknowledge he had some injuries, but after all the money spent that's maybe a reason to excuse him finishing 5th or 6th, but 8th? He's had 2 years and I cannot say we've progressed at all in any meaingful way.

Which players has he improved? How many games have you come away thinking "we did an excellent job there"? How many games where you think "finally, I see it"? The answer to all of these questions is either "none" or "not many".

We've had discussions for months talking about how its completely unclear how we're meant to be playing. All the discussions about how how we look like the worst coached team in the league. Winning the FA Cup is nice, but don't let it cloud things, in reality the only games we won that we weren't heavy favourites in were Liverpool and Man City. Fair play he got the job done, but we also very nearly got knocked out by fecking Coventry.

What do you except to improve and progress when tons of first team players injury??
Also, are we spent that big?
Court for Spending only within 2 years (Not counting Net spending because we are shit on both buy and sell) (Position is upper than us)
City 414.6
Arsenal 421.34
Tottenham 452
AV 211.64
Newcastle 338.55
Liverpool 314.3
Chelsea 1102.15
Us 445.58
The different of spending is not that big......

I think we would see what we are playing when we have a sole mobile DM, health pair of CB and proper LB
Also, if Emery is available, then i will agree to let ETH leave..

Injuries obviously played a big part in the season, it either tenhag with one more season to get rid of the problematic players or the ineos getting rid off them (trusting them to be competent)and bringing a new manager.

Truthfully I think United would be mad to sack him.

I've seen glimpses of good football this season, admittedly far too far apart from each other, but it's still been there.

What I saw today would have been more than enough to convince me its right to keep him, but I've thought for a while that sacking hom would be shooting yourselves in the foot.

United this season have used 16 different centre half partnerships. For those of you that have never played the game, that is ridiculous. Centre halves, be it a pairing or a 3 need cohesion, it only comes through playing together and forming an understanding. I don't mean to belittle anybody that hasn't played, but I can't stress how important it is.

Combining the defensive issues with the amount of injuries they've suffered, i can see why the performances have been as disjointed as they have been.

Once you then factor in Ronaldo having a tantrum, the greenwood and Antony situations and whatever the hell was up with Jadon Sancho, I'd say that Ten Haag has had a season that even super pep would struggle to deal with.

For me, keep him, he deserves it.

Oh, he's also won silverware in both of his seasons at the club. United are about trophies, no?

So the greatest manager of all time managed to turn something around. Does that mean we have to give every manager 5 years even no matter how many records they break for poor performance?
[/QUOTE]
No, we have to give them 6 years. SAF won the league after 6 years, so we have to give the manager 6 years to see if he is SAF reborn. That’s not rocket science.

He still needs to be booted out, and it is great that he goes out on a high. The season has been horrific, even after taking the lengthy injury list into account. His poor tactics have also not helped. But the worst blunder he committed in my book was pushing for the unnecessary purchase of Anthony(Onana and Mount I can live with). He recommended that the club buys this 'unplayable' dud for a prince's ransom. That money was enough to buy a decent midfielder and defender which would have helped shore up the weaknesses in the middle. It is an amount of money that should only be spent on a game changer, yet today his 'unplayable' player was on the bench in a final. This shows shocking judgement especially when one looks at how much Kudus,a vastly superior player, and who was also in Ajax, went for. I am shocked that many now want him to be kept on.Who says that next season there will not be another injury crisis? Who can guarantee that next year there will not be another scandal that keeps one key player away from the team for an extended period? He gets paid millions to handle such issues and at the same time minimize their impact on club performance. I hope the powers-that-be will not be fooled by this cup win.

His talent ID is disastrous(Antony...), he's stubborn and not particularly charismatic(to say the least).

I'm sorry, but I still think he needs to go.
