I would like to see him prove himself not good enough without an anomalous season before sacking him. Doesn't feel fair to dump him with the situation he had to work with this season. I think he's gone, though. Back to square one again!

if the players were playing for him we wouldn't have had the season we've had, so many games where a bunch of players just don't look arsed

they showed up for a final against city, you don't need to be a prime fergie to get the team motivated for that

god help us if we change our decision based on one game where we did a great job of parking the bus and actually gave a shit

So the players are good now and we don't need a massive clear out?
Let’s not forget about Murtough also. He laid foundations for this by hiring a manager who won trophies in 2 seasons in a row and arranging the signing of many of the players who were instrumental in FA Cup win while also presiding over development of the youngsters who look destined for great things.

Since Asworth is not yet confirmed we can bring Murtough back so that he can thrive under new CEO and new structure.

Why do you want a new CEO? Bring back Arnold or even better bring back Woodward, he raised Arnold.

Would any of the other big clubs sack a manager who has won 2 cups in 2 years and been to 3 Wembley finals?

If they'd come 8th in his second season and conceded 20-30 shots every game, possibly.

I'm convinced, bring him back!

19 shots conceded today. You cannot keep doing that and expect to win anything.

BUT we are still having better xG...1.31 vs 1.53
and better big chance.. 1 vs 2
and better score.. 1 vs 2

I really wanna see him do well, he seems like a great bald guy. But the football over the last 16ish months has been beyond awful. If the football was good and the results were bad I could make a case.. but bad football and bad results is a really slippery slope that not many managers come back from.

Think he deserves one more season, proper partner for Mainoo in center mid and a new CB at a minimum. I like Bruno as a false nine like firminho and let the wingers do the scoring.

Has to be kept now. The risks of every new manager are huge and all mentioned names carry risks. Ten Hag still has the players, a trophy, and just taught guardiola a lesson. Get him some more players and let him see out his contract.

If you finish 8th during any season, you would be sacked way before the end of the season.

Frankly I don't understand these kneejerk reactions, if you want to keep him base it on giving him a chance to redeem himself but don't make silly points about a single game or injuries.

the final was a game of chess- with one team nullifying the other through intelligent play. Winning the league is a marathon. We need a manager with a greater level of adaptability when we don’t have the right combination of players.

The players are playing for him, and we've seen we can do better when we have our best players. In the right setup he could do well. The alternatives are not that impressive anyway.

Keep him.

* I might regret starting this thread tomorrow.

2 points here

a- we don't know whether they are playing for him or if they know he's out and are playing for themselves instead
b- United in counters was always lethal whether it was under Mou, Ole and ETH. The problem had always been when we had to break a low block

I’m really pleased for him and it’s a great send off but it’s time to move on. He can leave with his head held high after today though!

I remember almost 75% wanted Ten Hag out a few weeks back. Now more than 50% want him in. The swing is quite emotional tbh. Very happy for Ten Hag and hope he stays (a position I've been maintaining) but whatever decision, I hope the club makes it rationally.

yeah all of them if they were this bad all season

Madrid might even sack the manager if they won the league playing like this

That was fecking incredible tbf. Been agnostic as to whether we should keep him, but watching that performance, and how much the players love him after the final whistle, I'll say stick with him.

I wanted to see him under INEOS so I wanted to see what happens under him next season. He's getting sacked though unfortunately, I just hope it isn't for a manager that's worse because the candidates are just meh e.g. poch, you just know he's losing that final

Too much crap football, weird tactics, poor transfers, and staying with crappy players too long.

I wouldn't mind seeing McKenna given a shot.

It took him too long to finally realise his 4141 setup was not going to work in this league and even though he finally managed to change up, the fact that it took him this long thereby costing us so much in the league doesn't fill me with confidence. I'll give it to him though, he managed to retain the belief of his squad throughout this rough patch which I don't think any manager Post SAF has managed to do.

Keeping him because of that result would be stupid and completely in line with the stupidity of decisions in the past that led to where we are. Stunning to see so many fans not learning...
The only viable reason to sack him is whether we have a successor we think is more suited to move us forwards as a team. Nothing else matters.

One game doesn’t change the last two seasons of poor results and questionable tactics and signings. At least if he does go, he leaves a winner.

Do agree though that the alternatives aren’t that great either, especially if they opt for McKenna, unless we get Xavi in.

Should be sacked the day after the parade if there is a parade. If there is no parade, he should be fired on Monday. No coming back from 8th place, negative goal difference and dead last in the Champions League.
