Juventus unveil bold new club crest at ceremony in Turin

I have never understood when organisations pay up to a half million pounds for a logo that takes 5 minutes to create

Horrific logo in my opinion, I have two design degrees and find it awful. The minimal approach is one thing but it could be any shit corporate branding. In my opinion it's a step away from the traditional style. I always liked juves badges, be ripping if ours got stripped down anymore.

I imagine they are aiming to create a street wear type of brand to attract 'the next generation' of kids across the world.

starting any promo video with 'in a world...' should be setting off alarm bells.

No small part of this, I bet, is a saving in manufacturing costs. The new Premier League badge is a case in point.

Juventus FC must sustain themselves because owners at Exor Group / FCA are kind of Scrooge. They have exited their commercial agreement with Adidas last year and are starting with own marketing campaigns worldwide. They really need to step up their commercial game in order to compete with superpowers in terms of wages and stars. Not sure it is going to work but as a business they surely know their sh*t, so let's wait for the numbers in a couple years.

It's literally took me about 2 minutes to change my mind from thinking it's absolute shit, to actually thinking it's brilliant. That will look smart on club merchandise, such as jackets and tshirts, looks like a designer label, unlike the actual club crests we're used to.

This, it'll look great on merchandise, and that's what drives the numbers.

The interesting questions are who called for a new logo, who was commissioned to create it and how much were they paid.

Hilarious stuff though.

Tbf it is still better than those circular crest from City and their sister clubs.

Its a marketable logo that can be used in a wide variety of merchandise, but it is a big step away from football, making it just another clothing brand. But i guess it will catch on. All changes mostly do I guess.

As a young fan, I have to say that the commercial is quite appealing to me (Buffon, Zidane, Del Piero, Nedved, Platini) but my uncle, a working class chap from Southern Italy migrated to Turin in the '70s to work at FIAT factories, feels betrayed: no Gianni Agnelli, no Boniperti, no Trapattoni, no Dino Zoff? Can't blame him for feeling old today.

Looks like something you'd see for a digital agency or some new tech startup. And by that, I mean I've seen hundreds of logos that look like that. It's okay, though I still like the current/former one better.

Thanks for posting. I didn't know that Juventus change their crest as often as their underwear. The 1961/62 one looks decent but the rest I'm particularly impressed with. Same goes for the new one: It looks tacky in its own way. I really hate that pretentious empty marketing speech crap 'the Juventus way of living'. BS in its true meaning.

I actually think it's a very smart design. The whole simplistic approach is very popular currently and not everybody wants to buy merchandise with big, in your face logos. Has more of a designer feel to it rather than a "I bought this jacket from Sports Direct" look.

What a useless crest. Their old one was so good.

That's what I'm not getting. People here are mentioning how it will look good on clothes and works as a logo. Juve's old crest is actually one of the football badges that I think already worked. That's why I find it odd that they decided to change it.

As a club logo, I don't like it at all. Though as a marketing company image it looks good. Personally if I was a Juventus fan, I would be wanting the club to keep the old crest on all the playing kits and such, and then use this new one on things like jumpers and t-shirts that can be worn outside of football.

I think it's pretty good. Loved their old one though, so it's a shame.

People always moan, especially when a badge is updated to a more modern look. Anyone remember Chelsea in 2005?

I'd say Chelsea's updated badge is a bit different, since they took most of their new logo from older badges like these two:

Whereas Juventus went for something completely new, only retaining the stripes and name.

However, I agree about the moaning. People will get used to the new Juventus badge as well. It'll probably look decent on the shirts. Also, it's not like Juventus haven't done this before. The 80s horse logo also just retained one element of the old logo and added the club name.

It's not really that bad, it's just not what we expect from a conventional crest.

People will get used to it.
It's just meh. A completely forgettable and generic design.

But whatever floats their boat.

Do they also plan to dump the stripes in the jersey and fill it with loads of J's :lol::lol:

Can't believe anyone can see this and think it's even half decent. That's just horrific

The old lady is turning in her grave.
 The juxtaposition of being called "The Old Lady" and having a trendy logo like this is hilarious. Like a regal old lady donning a shellsuit.

No small part of this, I bet, is a saving in manufacturing costs. The new Premier League badge is a case in point.
Give it 5-10 years and the outrage about the change as well as the memories of the old crest will be consigned to the recesses of the mind as nostalgia for those who grew up with some variant of the old crest. Ironically, 50-100 years from now, Juve might well be seen as trendsetters who led the way for new crests in football.

'juventus way of living'? Wtf is that?

Don't mind the logo (though u prefer the old one) but I dislike stuff like that.
