Jurgen Klopp and Dortmund

Defensively they're average..better sides will make them pay more than Malaga.

You mean like City or Real Madrid? They like playing teams that attack them, when they don't have to make the game themselves but get them on the counter. They will get that now. Will be interesting to see how they do

They weren't that great last night. Malaga aren't that good themselves, but they should have had the game in the bag at 2-1.

They weren't great no, but still had enough chances for another 2 matches. Götze alone should have made the semis clear.

I wouldn't say that they are average defensively at all. Hummels was a huge loss for them last night; in fact, such is the oddity that is football, Santana ended up being the hero last night despite missing two sitters previously and also being downright shite positionally all game. I thought he was poor for both of Malaga's last night - the first goal came from his absolutely shocking header back into the feet of Baptiste, and his positioning for Malaga's second goal was Sunday League.

Hummels and Subotic are a much more sound partnership.

Especially in the first leg. Still, they'll be comfortably dealt with by the bigger teams I feel, though they just seem to have Bayerns number at times.

Made it unbeaten to the CL semi finals, playing the english and spanish champions on their way. Pretty sure they'll give everyone a tough game. Not sure how they'll look against Barca but they can beat Real and Bayern/Juve or PSG.

I hope he's going to be Dortmund's Ferguson. He's built a great, young team and they'll finally have the money to spend in the Summer so they can further improve it. I fear he could struggle outside of Dortmund because it'd be extremely tough to replicate the job he's done there elsewhere - the side suits his philosophy perfectly, most of them will stay at Dortmund for a very long period and he could really have them consistently among the elite.

Lewandowski is such an idiot if he wants to leave. He'll never find such a comfort zone elsewhere and he'll probably be back at a mid-table Bundesliga side like Wolfsburg in a couple of years if he moves to Bayern and spends 80% of his time on the bench.

What a ridiculously dismissive remark. Explain. Do you mean their defenders are average, or that their midfield two of Bender and Gundogan don't give the defence enough cover? Or do you mean Hummels and Subotic are average, or the full backs Piszczek and Schmelzer are weak? Or Weidenfeller is not up to it.

????

As long as Bayern won't become the german Liverpool - which is highly unlikely as long as Hoeness is alive - I would like him to stay at Dortmund for a long time. Dortmund's success is again the reason why Bayern is competing in europe on such a high level, just like 98-02.

I don't think Lewandowski will go to Bayern. Pretty sure he's better than Mandzukic though and woulnd't sit on the bench. No one really knows what Guardiola wants to change anyway, should be an interesting summer.

Didn't see the whole game, only the goals. Weren't Dortmund extremely fortunate to get away with thier third?

Their style of football is simply fantastic. High tempo, technical and with a focus on quick passing interchanges. And they press with a real aggresssion. Pretty much everything I like to watch in a team. I would love for Klopp to succeed Fergie and hate for any of our rivals to get him.

I think yesterday we saw a clear case of a young team showing some nerves but in the end with a lot of heart and a lot of luck they went through.

Götze was pretty much the embodiment of their inexperience on the international stage over the two legs, the chances he missed in the first game really did his head in and it showed in the Bundesliga game afterwards and now in the second leg.

You could really feel the fear and insecurity of this team at certain stages of the game yesterday but I think it's natural for a team that with those players reaches this stage of the biggest competition in club football for the first time.

Another point is that it doesn't suite Dortmund to be favorites, at least not in the CL, I feel they had their best performances against Real and City this season.

Of course missing Hummels is another problem for them, even though he was far from having his best season, likely due to lingering injury problems, his precise long balls are integral to Dortmunds build up game after winning the ball back.

I still pretty much see this Dortmund team as a work in progress and think they have a long way to go until they can really be consistent contenders for the CL and of course of Bayern in their current form, if they would now meat in the CL semi-final I have no doubt that Bayern would come out on top, they are just the better Dortmund this year, they posses all of their strengths and non of their weaknesses.

Non the less it will be interesting to see if Dortmund can spring a surprise win of the CL this year, wouldn't be the first underdogs to maybe go lucky and upset the odds, it's just clear that from now on they will be massive underdogs no matter who they meet, which actually suites them.

What an extraordinary finish to the game last night. Barcelona '99 is being mentioned by German Sky and by most of the pundits across the country continuously yesterday and today.

Their defense was not good yesterday, Klopp, Zorc admitted and they probably played their worst CL game this season, but people need to remember that Mats Hummels was missing (similar to us missing Vidic). He gives Dortmund a lot more stability at the back and is a top passer (something they were missing last night as Malaga did well to avoid Piszczek and Schmelzer bombing forward).

And what about this:

Real are one of the best counter attacking teams around.

Their defense has been weak all year. But - I do not only mean Hummels and Subotic with it - in today's match and especially with the idea, the German teams have, defense is not a thing of the defenders only but a team effort. And their defensive set-up is not the same it used to be the former two years.

Hummels best scenes this year have been offensive once - often after plunders he made in the defense.

Oh, they showed the binoculars they need to still be able to see Bayern...

I would be careful of taunting. If they win the CL, a lot of the gloss will go off Bayern's league win.

I want a Bayern-Dortmund and Real-Barca semis!!

They've not had the luck to play with 10 men often enough IMO. If they had a man sent off in every game, they would have conceded far less because it's easier to play with 10 men.

I'd rather Madrid-Dortmund and Barça-Bayern in the semis, with an all-German final. I think a double tie between Barça and Bayern this year could be very interesting, and as Dortmund got the better of Real over two ties in the group stage (they won 2-1 in Germany and drew 2-2 in Madrid), it would be nice to see if they could replicate the effort in the knock out ties.

Yes, those would be my dream semis as well. Bayern can beat Barcelona/PSG and Dortmund will create problems for Madrid.

And I would not like a Real-Bayern final if things get worse - I do not want Mou in the final - let him go to Chelsea without a title! For me it is fully open if Dortmund could beat both Real or Barca right now in two legs. Real is not the Real of October or November. And their style could be something Barca could have problems with.

On the other hand I fully trust Bayern to beat Real - but I do not know if they could do it with Barca.

I'm very curious to see that matchup, and I'll back Bayern to do it.

Who's good defensively though? Madrid certainly aren't, neither are Barcelona for sure and Bayern on the evidence of CL are far from being solid too.

Yes. It was offside twice. People that say that Málaga's goal was offside haven't seen the freeze frame with the line drawn in the grass.

Bayern has one major weakness defensively and that are standard situations which could end up costing them another CL title.

You're putting the league and the CL in the same bracket. Bayern have 2 clean sheets in 9 games. In the other 7 they conceded 10. Their defense have been worse against easier oppositions if you compare them to Dortmund.

Have you seen it?
