Juan Mata

For Chelsea: 2 seasons, 105 games, 30 goals, 50 assists.

He's a very productive impact player - that's all that tells you and it's completely in keeping with what I said, IMO.

Its the choice between a Ferrari which doesn't start up sometimes when its a bit too cold or a Rolls Royce that gets the job done and never lets you down.

rolls royce are fecking finicky as well. terrible analogy.

mata is a porsche 911 turbo s....

hazard is a maserati (not quite the mclaren's that are ronnie and messi or tempermental ferrari that is rubbery or robben).

Yeah perhaps 'rarely' was the word I was looking for. Also helps that you can fit the family in the Rolls Royce whilst the Ferrari is more of a car to drive on your own.

Now you're getting too deep with it!

I just think Hazard is going to become something really special very soon, would've been sooner has SAF managed to get hold of him.

Another match winning performance against us. Is he better than Fabregas (at Arsenal)? I can say, yes he is.

Is he better than 3 awards Bale? yes, he is. 18 goals and 26 assists in all competition this season. And he's actually involved in every good move Chelsea made.

Better than Fabregas? Different positions, mate.

Better than Bale? Doubt so. I'd say both of them are on the same level as of now.

Not sure I think hes better than Bale( although hes close), but right now I am incredibly happy we got him instead of Arsenal! His attitude is also excellent and he seems to be enjoying his time here.

I read that he's played 60-odd games this season which is actually ridiculous when hes putting in displays like that and some of our players have been putting in lethargic performances since Madrid.

I didn't think he was actually that great yesterday, quality player.

54 games last season and 60 games this season. Wow.

Is that including national team? He, like Cleverley played every game in the Olympics too I think. It's impressive that he's still able to put in match winning displays like that. I think SAF would have managed his appearances because he's still young. But maybe the lack of rotation is what's helped his consistency?

While people are mentioning Bale, I think that I have been as much impressed with Mata this season. Fantastic player.

To be fair, he gets rested a fair bit for the amount of appearances. Carrick for example has played ~400mins more than him in the league.

I'm sure Mata has played a hell of a lot more minutes in all competitions though. Carrick isn't even one of our players who's looked lethargic though. Like Mata Carrick has played to a consistently high level all season.

Great player but a huge diver and a bit of a whiny twat.
Still not the worst culprit at either though.

Doesn't come across like that to me. Seems a top professional. I want one of these small Spanish midfielders.

He really annoys me - such a fantastic player, yet playing for a sugar daddy team; the club around him is a complete circus, yet he remains consistently excellent; looking at his fourth club manager this summer after just two seasons there, yet he appears focused, professional and we don't hear anything about him playing politics in the dressing room or stirring up trouble. Add to that that he is excellent against us (and seemingly has a quite brilliant rivalry going on with DDG on the pitch  ) then I'm starting to hate the little twat :smirk:

Easily one of the very best players in the league.

Still raging that Chelsea managed to sign Mata. He's a player of the highest quality, easily world class for me.

Chelsea are going to be scary if they add a top quality striker and CM to the squad.

Completely agree. He is neither. I've seen him go down easily (I can think of one example yesterday on the edge of the area) but I cannot off the top of my head recall a blatant dive and I think he is generally respectful of the referees.

Yesterday he had an uncharacteristic moan about an absurd decision by Webb when he was judged to have pushed a United player when we hadn't touched him as we were on the attack.

He seems a good pro as well as a top talent, not a player I see causing Chelsea problems down the line by whining about a transfer. Wish we'd got him instead of Young that summer.

Oh I can! Do you think Barcelona or Madrid show interest he won't consider it?

You can never tell, Mata certainly is one of the smarter footballers (based in interviews i've seen) but then I rememeber being very suprised when Modric refused to play for Spurs to force a move.

I'm sure an offer from one of the big two in Spain would seriously temp him.

I'm not so sure. He was deemed not good enough for Madrid when he was younger wasn't he? He doesn't have any allegiances to either such as Fabregas did. I also don't really see Barcelona needing him. They have Iniesta and I don't imagine Mata fancies being a sub.

He has also repeatedly spoken of his desire to become a legend at the club like Lampard (which he is well on course to becoming).

He seems to be really happy here, let's hope it continues. Amazing player and a great representative on the field for the club.

One of the best players around at the moment, a pleasure to watch.

Well, that's when he's not scoring against us that is...
