Jesse Lingard | Seoul singer

Sometimes a player like him, pogba, delle ali, maguire etc need to pay attention to the critics and not live is this bubble they live in

Releasing clothing brands etc when you aint a starter at your club means your focus isnt in the right place

What on earth do those 3 have in common with Maguire ffs

Pogba is a multiple title and world cup winner so I'm sure he sleeps fine at night

He got his priorities all wrong as a footballer. He could've probably got a longer contract with West Ham, where he actually played well, but instead for some strange reason he went for a 1 year contract with a newly promoted side. He probably didn't get the contract he expected as a free agent from anyone, and thought if he plays well and is on a free next summer he might get better offers.
Money

Was watching todays game and thinking how well Ashley Young is still doing. Then he goes and scores a screamer Good for him and at 37 years old. Not suggesting a return but just admiring his play.

I can almost guarantee every elite level footballer lives in a bubble. They all think they're better than they are. Everybody around them will be telling them how great they are.

I still don't see what those four players have in common with each other, though.

Players who receive mass online abuse on their performances on the pitch but either dont care or want to knuckle down and hit their potential

The guy is an arrogant tool who thinks he is a world beater. I still remember his childish behavior after the 2018 WC. The guy had a decent previous season and a decent WC. All he had to do was work hard and focus on football, instead he looked like someone who was content with his career. His body language always screamed as someone who after a poor result would go to Rashford and say "hey rashy no worries, let us play fifa"

Glad he is not our problem anymore.

Considering he might have got a 3 year contract at, say, West Ham, at 80K/90K a week and instead went for a 1 year contract at Forest for £110K/120K a week shows a complete lack of intelligence.

3 years guaranteed money, however shit he plays, versus 1 year big money and, unless he sets the World alight, his career is over, unless he wants to drop down the leagues and earn £20K a week.

Apparently, he's been complete pants and can't even get in the starting 11. He had 1 good season under Jose, played for England a few times off the back of it and a half season at West Ham and that was the limit of his credentials.

Anyway, he fecked us over for years, so he can piss off, for all I care.

What do the Forest fans think of him so far?

Can anyone repost that incredibly cringe introduction/promo video they did when he signed?

The odd nice touch, needs shouting at to track back - don’t really give a shit whether he plays or not - we have bigger issues. There’s no way he gets the number 10 ahead of MGW.

I still can't believe a midfield of Henderson, Alli and Lingard made the World Cup semi final..... only 4 years ago. (and Ashely Young on the wing!!)

Baffling decision to sign both.

No - really don’t see what he brings - certainly not effort. Maybe he makes a decent cuppa at halftime?
That's the thing. When he was up and coming, at least he was fit and ran his socks off. His last couple of years, the guy looked clearly out of shape and barely made any effort. Couple that with mediocre technique and vision, and what else remains?

I think his plan is/was to get another big signing on bonus next summer when Forest invariably go down. I'd be very surprised if it's still in England, mind. MLS seems a shout.

To be fair, he’s not had much chance going forward - being as we can’t keep the ball long enough. The non-tracking back is crap though. He essentially replaced Zinkernagel, who for all his inconsistency going forward, worked his socks of and won back possession before opposition attacks got going.

Didn't he give the ball away cheaply for one of your conceded goals a few weeks back? Are the Forest fans not taking to him?

He's probably due his winter purple patch where he goes on a run of goals and assists quite soon so don't give up on him yet.

That period he had at West Ham was bonkers really, considering he's not actually very good at all.

He really should have chosen to go back if he had the chance, going to forest for the money was daft.

Confidence issue. At West Ham he had a great time with the lads. At forest he probably feels like some random geezer on undeserved wages.

They are all giving the ball away - that’s one of the problems. No one’s digging out any of the the new lads - not even Lingard. If anything, its the academy lads, Worrall, Yates and Johnson that are (unfairly) copping the blame. We know Coops will sort it but what that team / formation will be is still up for discussion.

Before he signed
This is beyond stupid. If we was willing to break the bank on wages I’d rather it someone who has had more than 6 good months in a decade long career.
He had a great half a season at West Ham in 20/21... 9 goals in 16 games.
Shame about every single other game he’s played from the start of his career until today.
Anyway he’s shit let him go to West Ham so he can do shit dances on tik tok or whatever idiotic app is the new in thing.
At our level he’d be a fantastic signing. He’d dramatically increase our chances of staying up, and nothing would help squad morale more than that

If £10m a year makes that difference it’s worth it
I just don't think I could, purely based on that silly JL thing he does with his fingers when he scores
Nope, good player but a huge shitbag and I can't see us signing the TikTok fresh price of bellend, especially if we've moved on from other players who don't have the character Coops is looking for.
I can't see it happening because well its practically unthinkable but IF this happened well wouldn't it be the moment the PL sits up a bit and realises that Forest are here to pllllaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy you muthas!!!
Seems like it could be spectacularly good or spectacularly disastrous with no middle ground.
Doesn't seem a Cooper or Dane type of signing to me, seems a bit of a vanity purchase. Not sure what it would do for team spirit.
Terrifying and exciting at the same time.
I can't quite put my finger on it, but I don't like him very much. Maybe it's some lingering dislike of Man United, but he doesn't come across well to me. A bit of a Pogba with all the TikTok bollocks
He’s a very good player who, like a few others at United, lost their way under a poorly ran regime with a badly coached and managed squad.
Funnily enough, they already look more organised under Ten Hag.
I can understand why Lingard's social media antics may rub some folk up the wrong way, but if we did manage to pull this off it'd be one hell of a statement by Forest.
We are talking about an established, proven Premier League quality England international here. One that was a key member of a West Ham side that qualified for European football. It would be one hell of a coup
Could be to us what Christian Eriksen was to Brentford last season.
Again, I know his social media antics divide opinion but Lingard is a really, really good player.
I really hope we sign him, whatever it costs us.
He's exactly what we need. He's still got something to prove and the talent to prove it
He is a quality international player who has been successful in the premier league for many years. Recently promoted teams don’t get players like this any more.
We only have a chance to get someone of this calibre because he is on a free transfer and because Manchester United had OGS doing a very poor impersonation of a top level football manager. And essentially wasted Jesse’s and other players talent.
100% Lingard will have spoken to Jimmy and more recently Hendo.
Lingard: „What has Nottingham got to offer, Jimmy?“
Garner: „Hooters!“
Lingard: „ Say no More!“
I am a bit moist just thinking about signing this guy
I'm now on board the Jlingz train and prepping my dabbing - still won't sign up for Tik Tok mind!
One issue with Lingard is he made a grand total of 149 appearances for United over 12 seasons. He spent 4 of those seasons out on loan. His only real bright point was his time at West Ham. HE obviously has some talent, but I would question his application. If a deal is weighted on performance, fine. But 180K a week, straight up? This seems a big role of the dice to me.
United have been badly run since he's been in their first team picture. Plenty of good players have gone their and flopped. Wouldn't read too much into it.
Lingard is a match winner with premier league experience, something we have very little of in our squad right now

Then he signed
Very pleased with that. I would imagine there's an option to extend by another year when we qualify for Europe.
Wow, this a Billy big bollocks signing now isn't it?!
Pray that this works.
He's bigger than the club - get's to do his own announcements on socials.
I am literally sat here in absoluteš floods of tears... COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!
baby, just got a shiver down my spine seeing he's been confirmed.....
Shit the bed! Went out for an hour and come back to this! Bloody loving this summer!
fecking love my club right now ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
At an average 100k/wk that's 5.2m for a year.
feck me that is a BARGAIN in this league. As good a gamble as we can take on a big name punt.
Even if it doesn't come off it's a sensible risk at this level. Wouldn't even buy you half a Carvalho :ROFLMAO:
He is literally dancing in the announcement video in EM's basement, what a beautiful sight to see
Jesus, this is unreal. How the club have managed to pull this off is incredible.
So nowhere near the reported 200k per week, on a one year deal, not 3. It literally does not get any better than that. Its virtually risk free.
Im off to knock one out.
Holy jumpin' bags of mashed potatoes!
How deliciously bonkers that in looking for a replacement for the Man Utd youth midfielder we sign a Man Utd first team midfielder (who they've woefully under used)
Hands up everyone else who thought the days of us signing England internationals were long gone?
feck me what a signing! What a feeling!
Dancing on the ceiling!
Cheap wages all things considered, would be nice if we had a option to extend next summer but if JL plays his heart out and keeps us up I wouldn’t begrudge him moving to a ‘big 6’ club.
23 years of hurt.
Good things come to those who wait.
You can shove your Grosickis and your Gayles.
This is one hell of a statement signing.
I know longer resent the 15% increase in my season card price :)
Can't believe West Ham wouldn't even stump up £80k a week for Moyes' number one transfer target. Thank God we have a great owner who backs the manager right!
Can someone please explain what the hell is going on!!?
10 months ago we had 1 friggin point from 7 matches and were irretrievably condemned to demotion to the wasteland of League 1.
Now we've signed Jesse Lingard, have built a backline that looks increasingly solid and now a front three that could genuinely create havoc amongst one of the strongest leagues in the world.
Remember when West Ham nabbed Harewood from us for nothing? And then Antonio for what turned out to be a bargain? Consider this payback!
And yes, WHAM can absolutely feck off.
and so can Duran Duran & Spandau Ballet
But they should wake me up before they go go or there may be some careless whispers.
Imagine the queue if they were selling memberships tomorrow.
West Ham fans have gone full Huddersfield Town. Never go full Huddersfield Town.
Oh dear, we're not making ourselves popular are we? Also, feck 'em. :)
I'm talking to Man United fans that I know, and they say he cares more about social media, money, and his clothing label than he does about football.

I'm not sure that's true. Lingard had offers from the MLS and the middle east.

I just know Stevie Cooper is a good man who knows how to get the best out of people. For me, that gives me so much confidence.
I think your right, if what those United fans said was true I don’t think Cooper would of given it the green light.
A lot of football fans don’t like it if a player has a life outside of the game, Pearce and Mourinho both said he’s a good lad who trains hard and neither of them would put up with someone who’s lazy.
Mourinho trusted him in big games too, he wouldn’t of if Jesse was a moron.
Scholes did blow him up for leaking.
Scholes sucks his own daughter's toes.
I know which side I'm on.

And The Premier League starts...
August 14th
I was not impressed; you can see his quality in the little things (some touches, how he spots a good pass), but his somewhat casual style was a bit offsetting
Seems a bit meh with attitude and then slots a pass beyond the the rest of the teams football intelligence, seems to lack a bit of sharpness.
He has to prove the world outside Forest wrong
He'll be alreet when he's up to speed. At this moment, he'll be the party animal in that dressing room, and loving every minute of it.
Hope nobody's not stupid enough to right him off.
There were a couple of moments where I spotted him tracking back beyond where you would expect if his reputation…so respect due for the work rate.
There was a moment in the second half where he was fouled and the ref didn't give a free kick. Lingard sat on the floor shouting at the ref. Cooper told him to get up and chase the ball. He did just that and won it back.
I remember seeing that, Cooper was taking no shit, Lingard understood and did his job perfectly.
But he only cares about tictok remember that.
He shouldn't need telling. His first thought should have been to get up and try and win the ball back instead of whining to the ref.
Didn't look completely match fit to me today but you could still see the quality he has.
Didn't look fully match fit to me, but can see some of his quality. Nice flicks, good movement and worked hard. He'll be important for us.
August 28th
Deserves a shout today. He looks match fit now, pressed really well & did everything quicker.
thought he played well today, ran him self into the ground and got stuck in when needed.
Coops will have him scoring before long
Personally I think he's looking better with every game and was involved in most of the positive play today.
He'd be one of the last players I'd be dropping.
Lingard was magnificent today. His passing was intuitive and intelligent.
He’s awesome and his influence on the game can not be underestimated.
Plenty more to come from JLingz.
Probably his best game for us today but I'm going to say it...I've been quite underwhelmed so far.

Could be fitness building up, could be getting used to new surroundings and a new system but he's had a very quiet, non-event of a start really. Compare that to MGW who came in for his full debut and looked like he'd played here years.
Sep, 7th
Still a bit disappointed with Lingard so far, but I don't know if that's because we're not playing to his strengths or not.
He was our best player on Saturday, our attacking threat ended with him going off. He was brilliant again Spurs too.
He was directly responsible for their opening goal. He was not our best player
Kouyate was our best player by some way until he burnt out around 60 mins and then probably MGW. He had some nice links at times with MGW but he wasn't close to being our best player.
Has to play though, he's one of the few players in the squad to have prevailed at this level.
We definitely haven't seen the best of him yet.
Fairly or unfairly, I think that's why people are looking to him and perhaps scrutinising more closely, because he has done it at this level.
I think he has a lot of talent, but I question his motivation.
And I do not agree that he was the best player on Saturday.
Kouyate, Lodi, MGW, all better
I keep reading the thread title as Jessica Ennis Lingard
Glad I'm not the only one!
Jessica Ennis might have been a better signing actually
Sep, 18th
He needs to start, played a great ball to Johnson who then set up LOB for his goal.
He’s the most talented player we have.
I agree. But I would also like to see a bit more work rate from him. Lingard should have the mentality that he has to earn his spot in Qatar
Some of the interplay between Lingard and MGW has been outstanding.
No points for interplay mate.
When it leads to something we can shout their names from the rooftops.
Oct, 3rd
I never, ever, want to see this fecking charlatan in a Forest kit ever again. Period.
Me neither. His only actual contribution was basically setting up a Leics goal by giving the ball away on the edge of our box
He's been shite since day one here and has shown no improvement or any actual desire? It's the bomb squad for you Tik Tok
He'll end up being the worst Forest signing of all time. We've had some utter shit over the years but cost us nothing like this charlaton.
I defended his signing but he's another Nicolas Bendtner. Comes in on an absolute wedge, gives us a bunch of negative press, does feck all and leaves.
He doesn't look interested. He's an insult.
People are very quick to have a pop. We are bottom of the league everyone is to blame not just Lingard.
Defend that shit that led to their first goal. This is a guy who, supposedly, came here to try and win a spot for Qatar. And he did a similar thing earlier this season (I can't remember who against---a poor giveaway and he just stopped and watched). At least the others look like they give a feck. This guy is so full of himself and his fecking clothing line.
Worst signing of the summer. Clearly can't be arsed. There's a reason Man Utd sacked him off.
I will stick my consistent deep analysis of him ..Meh
He was pish today, but I wouldn't be too hard on any of the players until they are part of a functioning team.
Can't we just release him?
As what, a b-side?
Not sure why he’s getting such a bad press. He certainly does track back and press, and wouldn’t have been there to make that duff clearance for the goal on the edge of the box if he was trying. And that wasn’t nearly as bad an error as Kouyate’s foul for the Maddison free kick.
Think he realises that his World Cup dream is over. He should be influencing games much more by now, and he isn't. We are now in a position that we need players that dig in, fight, give it their all and not just trot through games with a few fancy flicks and kicks.
Lingard is 29, he's played a ton of games at a high level, and he shoudl be expected to perform at a better level. That is two goals he has been directly responsible for this season, both on massive gaffs. We are lucky he is up the field. And up there, teh odd good ball, pretty much nothing else. It's been terrible for what he is supposed to be, talent wise.
I get the impression Lingard is a turd sprinkled with glitter.
I had high expectations for Lingard. I wasn’t perturbed by his social media antics and profile but wondered then if he’d live up to the hype.
I don’t doubt he has the ability.
We’ve yet to see it on the pitch.
He was good pals with Pogba, right?

Can’t say we weren’t warned about Lingard. Thank God he’s only here for a year.
Awful last night as he has been all season..
Apparently Cooper had sat him down & suggested he should be doing more, if last night was his response, then Id stick him with the kids for the rest of the season.
I don't think the red JLingz bobble hat I bought in the summer after I got a bit too excited about his signing will ever get worn in public
I let my son get Lingard on the back of his shirt knowing full well he was only here for a year. I didn't realise Lingard was shit too.
I've failed as a father
Some of the hate for Lingard is truly pathetic and a few people should be embarrassed by themselves.
Agree. Despite the whole team looking off, it would appear that everyone has found an easy target
Wouldn't make England B team ffs.
Two big games coming up for Lingard to show his class and value to the team
We need goals and creativity for his 120,000 A WEEK pay cheque
He's not pulling his weight. Several goals against us can be directly attributed to a poor pass from him, poor clearance from him or not tracking his man back.........a marquee signing but we wanted grafters with a bit of skill.......not a lazy bugger with loads of skill...
Last few days...
what kind of fool thought this would be anything other than a complete waste of money..
Steve Cooper was hugely encouraged by his signing, as too was I.
So there's at least two you can add to your list of fools.
At this stage, he's not going to the World Cup and if say Olympiacos or in fact another team were to chuck us a few quid in January, I'd be looking to shuffle him out. MGW is our player and has his long term at Forest, Lingard is a passenger.

I see Lingard is class now he's been on the bench.

They were so excited at the start :(

Southgate loves him, all he needed was probably 2-3 goals to be back in contention for the WC, couldn't manage it

Isnt that pretty damning of how we’ve been run the past few years? How even newly promoted Forest have now benched him two months in? :wenger:

It used to be that if someone was deemed shit for United then they’d be shit for everyone else in the eyes of the kneejerky fanbase, but then they went to a mid table team and that team’s fans rated them as a decently solid player and it would demonstrate the gulf between playing for United and playing for a lower half Premier League team.

Forrest fans must be delusional then because there is no way Coops turn this around and I will bet on it any day. After watching you guys this season and to think you can turn this around with the same coach is baffling, even more baffling giving him a new 5 year deal  . I guess we will see

We’ve gone from conceding 10 in 3 matches and no points to conceding 2 in 3 and two points - he’s already started.
