Jesse Lingard | Seoul singer

So great he’s gone, like a mini trophy in itself.

Childish on occasions – yes. Cringeworthy sometimes – yes. Annoying – yes. But the sheer venom from some on here always amazes me. Never really took to him myself, but that doesn’t mean I wish him ill. Think it’s probably a good move for both him and Forest. And I don’t buy this he’s a crap player – not United level, but he’s nowhere near as bad as some make out.

He was consistently fantastic for West Ham when he went there. I don’t think anyone can deny he’s a decent footballer. His personality is just not to everyone’s liking. I agree that he doesn’t act his age though, and I think that’s what annoys most people.

i will.18 months without a goal/assist and now plays for a team just come from the championship

Just a bit of perspective on Lingard from our point of view now the dust has settled. Firstly, what ever his previous, he’s got a clean slate now. In terms of money, it will cost us £6-6.5mil for the year (the upto £125k pw seems to be the accepted figure) which is a bargain and not much of a gamble. Obviously the social media thing can be annoying for us older fans but if it means a generation of kids in Nottingham and beyond buy Forest/Lingard shirts instead of City/Liverpool/Chelsea then thats brilliant.
it’ll also mean the possibility of the first Forest player in the senior england team since Stuart Pearce. What is most satisfying is the “Good to see plucky old Forest back nostalgia fest” narrative is being replaced by “who do they think they are - hope they get get relegated”. Our first home game is West Ham - it’s going to be feisty!

Hope you do well and Lingard smashes it for you, mate!

I wanted you to do well but now i want you to get smashed every game in which this prick lingard gets minutes. Hopefully he smashes in a few own goals for good measure.

This is a Very Normal Post.

Lingard does not play for United anymore.

The reaction of some morons on here borders on the bizarre and psychotic.

What do we do about this?

Ignore it - apparently he’s down with the kids - to be fair, he came across quite well in his first interview for Forest TV. Going to the WC is a massive motivation for him.

Is that true he’s set too earn £10 million for 1 year at For

What were West Ham offering?

I imagine West Ham would have been putting a 3 year contract down on the table at a guess?? Surely that would have been a better deal, less per year but more money secured over a longer period and a chance too settle at a decent club, 60k+ stadium, challenging in the top 7 shooting for European places

instead he’s gone for relegation battle potentials in Forest

All that being said, it’s money that talks, football goes out the window imo, securing your families future is what it’s more about

Although he’s already a multi millionaire, doesn’t stop you wanting more though, human nature

Id be surprised if there wasn’t an option to stay if they don’t get relegated

There is a lot of inside info from West Ham, going back months, that Lingard was demanding £180k a week. West Ham's offer was apparently £150k a week; even that seems unwise to me.

The breakdown will be £80k a week basic salary + £5m sign on fee split over the course of 1 year (length of deal) so £180k a week.

There is no way Lingard rejects a permanent deal at Newcastle last January, rejects an offer from Everton, rejects West Ham, to sign for Forest for £80k a week in total. Even this summer, Newcastle pulled out because Lingard's financial demands were considered excessive.

At some point several years ago, Lingard clearly decided he would leave United on a free transfer in order to maximise his earnings. He has been willing to sacrifice playing time just for this moment. Forest met his financial demands, no other PL side did.

It all seems astonishing to me but you only need follow the timeline to see what has happened. Once Bruno Fernandes arrived, that was the time to leave, either in that same January transfer window if possible, or more likely the following summer, especially after spending months as an unused sub.

Spot on

The 1 year length of it could really backfire on him if he has a shite season, no one takes a sniff at him after that.

I guess he really believes in his own qualities but more than not the line between justified confidence and unwarranted arrogance is non existent.

I would absolutely love for them to put up a JLingz statue next to the Brian Clough one. Two legends of the game standing side by side
Should make an animatronic that dabs whenever someone walks past.

Personally I’m not really a fan of the way he conducts himself, however, I think he has been way too influenced by his buddy Pogba. Thus in the eyes of many he is a complete twat.

However, as a footballer, going to a team where he’s going to be the big man, top star, I think that’s a good move for Jesse and I think he will do reasonably well for them this season, although I think they will go down. But don’t worry - Jesse - no jeopardy for you as you will be a free agent again.

If he could loose this whole JLingz and stupid videos o think that he would have much more favourable respect - however, he behaves like a kid and most think he’s a complete clown.

Good luck Jesse. Just try and concentrate on football and forget the rest.

Quite apt he has the shitty little beard like Tony Robinson in Maid Marian.

Think he’ll do well for them then feck off to America once they go down.

Laughing my balls off here at that shitty little beard. Swear I look at it and think it amplifies his ability to be hateful
