Jerome Boateng

Watch Bayern sell is this donkey and sign Pavard for 35m. Leicester signed Big Mag for 13m and now we are looking at him . Why are we always to late finding these players and characters? We should get rid of Rojo buy Pavard as we could still use him as a fullback if needed. Plus VfB would love to sell him to any club not named Bayern.

I'd honestly rather stick with our current centre backs than add this guy. He looked so poor at the WC and from what I saw of him during the CL with Bayern. Like others have said, save the money and buy one of the younger talents (De Ligt) next year.

Watch Bayern sell is this donkey
Are we still talking about Jerome Boateng?
Come on now, it's not like he is terrible. Excellent player that sadly has too many injuries, but he definitely isn't a donkey.

Please god tell me this is some kind of joke... what ever your thought there is good reasons to sign Maguire or Toby.

But this Donkey?

As a fan who watches every game of Bayern, I think I can rate him...

In the past he was-in my opionion-always our best defender when he was fit. The speed and defensive skills of Süle combined with the huge quality on the ball of Hummels. Sadly we didn't see the fit Boateng for a while now. But he still has the potential to be a huge upgrade for every team!

And to be honest I was one of the guys saying for the last 6 months that I want him to leave. Just because i felt he isn't really in love with Bayern anymore.nBut I think he will get pushed back in the line when playing for another club.

In my eyes he is a great target for big clubs and really cheap for the quality you get. There is always the risk of injuries though... but there are always risks.;)

If people are not happy with Martial's attitude wait till you get a look at Boateng. I wouldnt touch him with a stick. He is for sale because Bayern know that his days at top level are numbered . Thanks but no thanks .

How was he last season?

If we actually sign this injury prone prick I won't be watching a single game this year. It would show the entire world our management, board and owners are a bunch of inept clowns. This guys injury record is worse than Bales and he plays in the bundesliga, with the tempo in the PL he would look like a lost 90 year old and would probably play 10 games at max. There is absolutely zero reason to why we should sign Boateng when what we have is already better than him. If we can't get Maguire or Toby then we should just wait till next summer. Boateng would just be a massive waste of money, fee and wages included for someone who won't do feck all to improve us. Jones is already injury prone and Bailly seems to be as well, signing Boateng would be a disgrace, there is a reason Bayern wants to sell him he is nothing but a huge liability and I seriously hope this is just another shite rumour.

The amount of disrespect Boateng is getting its astounding. Yes he is injury prone but if United manage to keep him fit he will be one of the best CBs in the league. I wonder how many people actually watched him play over the past two seasons.

PLEASE GOD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has Mourinho even watched football over the last 12 months?? This guy is a liability, Id rather Jones at the back than this guy. Terrible season for Bayern and the World Cup was even more tragic. Honestly, if Bayern are looking to sell their is a reason for it, they dont sell good players and if its because hes unsettled then thats even more reason to avoid this doughnut.

Can we keep him injury free though... Given our injury record, he`d probably be substituted 10 minutes into his first game and miss 6 months.

Incredible, world class cb and people here want Maguire or Mina, he is better than Toby, and about same age. To ask yourself do they watching football at all :)

Jones and Bailly would get some extra company in the treatment room.

I don’t think I’ve EVER been so disillusioned in a summer transfer window for us and if after not signing either a left back or right sided forward which are our clear priorities we then sign Boateng I’ll just write this season off completely, I’m literally having all enthusiasm drained from me.

Jones, Bailly and Rojo are already or becoming injury prone so why the fecking feck would we need to look at another one like it in Boateng ? Bayern wouldn’t agree to sell him unless they knew he was done and they’d keep him as back up to Hummels and Sule in a worst case scenario, it’ll be Schweinsteiger all over again but this time with an even bigger expense and loss.

On his day he's world class. Too bad it's not been his day for about 3 years. Last thing we need is another injury prone centre back, we already have 3 of them!

German Titus Bramble, and a City reject to boot. Who's idea was this? I pray it hasn't come to this
It's time to go to bed, mate. Maybe you'll have a better day tomorrow. Sincerely hope some of you guys are just kidding. There's some appalling stuff on the last couple of pages.

I imagine we'll be flogging at least one of them. An occasionally fit Boateng is better than an occasionally fit Rojo/Jones.

Holy, the amount of ridiculous replies in this thread is crazy. Not that he'd necessarily be the right addition to the team, but the way people are acting like he's the center back version of Bebe is incredible. I'd like to see you lot react if he transfers to a different Prem club and stays injury free throughout the season. He'll be one of the top 5 cbs in the league.

Sorry mate, but I can't help but feel the likes of you are already just saving face before it happens so you can say "I wanted him to come" when the rest of us are reeling from the disaster of signing Boateng

Disaster? Was it a disaster signing Ibrahimovic, Matic, or Van Persie?

Alright I might have been exaggerating a bit with the Titus Bramble comment, tongue in cheek, but its not good if we sign him. It just means we have missed every chance to sign the ones we did want and we are forced to buy someone Munich can't wait to get rid off. For 50m too? Insanity

This is an internet forum where no one knows my name. I really don't feel any need to "save face". It's just that you would think he is absolutely terrible when in reality he is a very good player with a worrying injury record. No doubt about his quality though. Hasn't played a terrible season either like some people are claiming.

Comparing Boateng to the signing of those players makes your comment a bit of a disaster! Matic had just won the title with chelsea in the prem, ibrahimovic will be world class when hes 95 and van persie was best striker in the league at the time. Boateng is an average CB who munich are looking to shift.

As far as I'm aware Boateng has been talking about wanting a new challenge for over a year, which is partly why Munich is letting him go. Other thing is that he's so injury prone. It's not that they're going to let him go because he's shit. When fit he's world class.

You would prefer Maguire or Alderweireld no? Truth is, we would be spending a hell of a lot of money on our 3rd, 4th choice option. Why?

He is 29 turning 30 in a few months. He is very talented and is the leader we need. The injuries are worrisome but we absolutely should look into signing him. His contract runs until 2021 so he won't be cheap.
He’s a top top defender, there’s no two ways about it.He can be the leader at the back that we”ve been crying out for,and he can potentially form a formidable partnership with Bailly. But can he stay fit?He played over 40 games a season for Bayern from 2011-2014...But over the last 3 seasons he’s averaging something like 25 games a season.

That’s simply not good enough for us....And he’s been inflicted by injuries for 3 seasons now,so we must be really careful before splashing out 50 million...But if Maguire and Alderweireld are unattainable then we may have no other option but to take a punt of Boateng...

Haven't seen enough of Maguire to have a valid opinion. I like Alderweireld though and would prefer him. Spurs are tough to deal with so it doesn't hurt to have more than one option.

Just shows that you know the player about as well as you know the next poster's mother in law. If you think a player that has been world class for years, was the former world champion's best CB, got to 3 consecutive CL semis, and won the WC and the CL is an average CB, then please show me more than 5 good ones. Pavard and the likes aren't better. Just younger.

But worryingly,he hasn’t been really fit for 3 years now...He’s averaging 25 games(in all competitions) over the last 3 seasons...

This also seems to become a popular opinion on here. In reality Pavard isn't even particularly close to Boateng in terms of quality right now. Don't really think we need another young CB that needs to be developed. I'm sure he will be good for Bayern when he inevitably joins them, but that doesn't mean that we would be stupid for buying Boateng.

Get a grip. And then check your facts.
The facts are he was found wanting throughout the World Cup, constantly being found out of position, not tracking back and when he did try to make it back he went at a snails pace. Is that fact enough?
