Jeremy Corbyn - Not Not Labour Party(?), not a Communist (BBC)

I guess he can go back to writing for The Spectator alongside James Delingpole and Rod Liddle

I always liked Corbyn since he became leader of the party. Couldn't understand the hate for him, even by my mate Sadiq. The complete opposite to the horrible, slimy Blair. Good to see the country are seeing through the unfair character assassinations on him now.

JK Rowling has been quiet on the Corbyn front in recent weeks considering how often she blabbed about him leading the party to ruins for the previous year

Corbyn's campaign was as excellent as May's was awful. Corbyn appeals to young people, they can relate to his idea's. May is the opposite, young people cannot relate to her.
I've been a big critic of Corbyn as a party leader and against some of his idea's. However, as a campaigner I've only the utmost respect for Corbyn. He's been absolutely brilliant. No matter what your political stances are, you can only applaud Corbyn for a magnificent & inspiring campaign.

Well summed up Rams

I have a lot of respect for those who humbly accept they were wrong. I have a lot of disdain for those who can't. She has helped no one but her own ego when she decided her opinion was relevant

In the past I've disliked Jeremy, and wished that Labour had a stronger leader. I've thought him meek, and while his heart is in the right place he never came across to me like he had the balls or presence to make himself heard as an opposition and didn't seem to have the confidence. Kind of like someone who sits in the corner and barely audibly mutters 'but, but, but' and nobody listens to him. But I have to say in the last 2-3 weeks I've changed my mind on him completely and I've seen a side to him I've never seen before. Confident, great presence and a determination to stick to the issues rather than be drawn into anything petty. Gained a lot of respect for him.

Just needs to keep campaigning, keep building the momentum and pressure on the tories. An election will come soon enough.

Its unusual to build such momentum and have another shot.

So, can a loss be a win?
He's Labour's Jose. He hasn't won the league yet but he's turned around a massive tanker that is now heading towards the top.

I'm old Labour and always will be. It's good to see that we can make a positive push in the right direction. I may not be one of the empowered youths anymore but I still believe what I did when I was.

To be fair, I do think this ignores that a lot of European countries have electoral systems which allow for multi-party politics to a far greater extent.

The French socialists, for example, may only have 6%, but in the UK they'd likely be made up of Hamon voters, Melenchon voters, and even some slightly left-wing Macron voters.

Similar can be said for the SPD in Germany, with the likes of Die Linke (if that's what they're called) and the Greens presumably helping to deplete their vote share.

But still, very impressive performance from Corbyn all in.

Just brush over the economic policy and he'll do fine.

With all the attention the UK is currently getting I hope some of those left parties on the continent take some inspiration from Corbyn.

Noteworthy though that those aren't the only left parties in those countries. SPD need to share the left vote with Greens and Linke for instance (which would currently probably still fall short of Corbyns % combined together).

My post was heavily sarcastic in my mind at least lol
I got that but I think that the momentum that the party has brought forward can't be over emphasised. We go into a period where the Tories are going to be involved in infighting. Labour needs to build on the gains they have made and move forward.

That and I'm a little worse for wear after all it is 10 O'Clock on a Friday night and Friday is the day I get blitzed.

i thought you were referring to the Momentum movement. My bad.

No problem. We are in a period of political uncertainty I think that Labour need to make the most of that. The fact that we have moved forward under Corbyn's manifesto is a big step. We need to mobalise the the youth that is not tied to a student union. How we get the disaffected youth on board is a big question for Labour. That and did I mention that I'm Blitzed?

Yeah I sorta knew before posting the tweet, that it wasn't completely accurate. Still pretty impressive though.

Also rumours going around that Labour membership is ''closing in on a million'' members

Jesus, a million is quite something. Again, even though it's obviously doesn't always translate to votes, it can be utilised effectively if you're vastly outnumbering your opponents when it comes to people campaigning, involving themselves in the election etc.

Agree. Exciting times ahead.

Pretty unforgivable his performance in this election compared to during the referendum.
Corbyn wanted to leave the EU and has done for years. Don't understand how people expected him to campaign with the same vigour on that topic as he did for his own vision of the Labour party.
