Jeremy Corbyn - Not Not Labour Party(?), not a Communist (BBC)

I voted Corbyn last year but won't be doing again. The last few months have been a farce.

That being said, I won't be voting for Owen Smith mainly because he offers nothing and is just as un electable as Milliband was in 2015. The hypocrisy from some of the Blairites is astounding at times.

Sadiq Khan would be the best Labour leader and would offer a credible alternative to the Tories whilst at the same time uniting the left. Pity that won't happen for a while yet.

To add to the farce, it is odds on that the annual conference won't go ahead now...
And McDonnell has accused McNicol of rigging the election. How long do you reckon he waits after Corbyn's victory is announced to demand everyone pledge loyalty?

Pledge loyalty... I'm expecting re-education camps for anybody who does not give him a five minute standing ovation at conference (if they can even organise a conference)

That wasn't even in the top 3 stupidest things Smith said last night =[. I want this to all be over.

Well I've voted for Jezza already. Purely because the single opposing candidate is no better than him. If they had put up someone with a bit of credibility it'd have been a contest, but I suppose that only highlights the weakness of Labour at the moment - they can't find any clear, strong leadership material among the whole party. What a shite state of affairs.

''Your not the only socialist in the village''

Chirst! That's a call back to mid 2000's sketch show(Little Britain). How did anyone think that ''zinger'' would go down anything other than horribly.

Did the same and pretty much for the same reasons.

Apparently he chided Labour supporters who think Kezia Dugdale is doing a bad job as Scottish leader. Because obviously it's terrible for anyone within Labour to criticise their parties leader.

Smith has been such a disappoint. For a moment there i thought he might be a credible alternative. Every event he speaks he makes himself look less viable.

Using the Daily Mails accusation that Corbyn voted Brexit and trying to pin Scotland on Corbyn

Was it for that, or was it for them booing her?

Suppose those career politican's egos would have been crushed if they had run against Corbyn .So send in the clown Smith.

It was even better than that, minutes earlier he blamed Corbyn for Labour being third in Scotland. Hence the laughter.

Not sure exactly, but even chiding them for booing her would've been a bit ridiculous considering his own current position in regards to going against Corbyn. He should be perfectly able to understand people within Labour not being overly happy with the party leader, after all.

Amazing how a man who's been in power for a year is somehow responsible for a decline that's been happening for about a decade now.

Valid point - though its worth remembering a number of the cotbynhipsters claimed that the jocks would love comrade corbyn and he would not only halt that decline but increase the labour vote
Certainly on that point i would suggest they have to reassess and say the prospects are bleak in Scotland

I'll freely admit I have spent far too much of my life (and money) in pubs, and that most of the people outside of extended family I've had political discussions with were at least partially pissed or stoned. That's another thing that makes Corbyn stand out, for me. Almost all my friends - well ALL as far as I know - agree with what he says, but there is not one of them that would be hesitant to name a favourite musician outside of classical music. It seems Jeremy has been so whole-heartedly focused on doing whatever he can to stand up against the bad guys that he hasn't let his hair down just a bit for a pint, a game of pool, a quid or two in the jukebox, and a bit of banter with his mates.

Am I missing something or do you think Corbyn is in charge of arranging security?
Comrade clusterfeck (Corbyn) is behind everything! Smith's gaffes? NEC having to allow him to defend his leadership? Mainstream media bias (HUGE!)? It's all, somehow, Corbyn's fault.

Let's not underestimate Corbyn's aspirations here. He believes "People Powered Politics" will overcome the 5-10% most powerful people in the land. They pay vitually no tax. They profit from fear of war. They control the media. They want you to think he's dangerous. Ask yourself: What is he saying? Is he a threat to me? Is he on my side? Why are they so dead against him? Can I be fooled by rich powerful people with vested interests into thinking he is unelectable?

All I want is an electable centre / centre-left government. Please. Pretty please.

Pray tell who is going to lead this mythical party, and who will be in the cabinet?

Are there any experienced political heavy weights left in the Labour Party?

They've only been out of Government 6 years or so, and there's no one left who you can take seriously.

Are you going to vote for the Con-Tease-atives again? It really wasn't Labour's fault for the banker's crash, by the way. Austerity was a political STUNT. They tease you that you're doing well when it's their masters that are pulling the strings. Don't be fooled. You're not doing well. You're being made a fool of.

The false consciousness narrative is rarely a vote-winner.
