Javier Pastore

Ermm yes he is, he's just a very creative potent one.

In the loosest sense maybe. The potency and threat based on him playing higher up the pitch and making the difference in more thretening areas, clearly.

Pastore's not a midfielder in the way we use them - if he came he'd be playing instead of Berbatov not Scholes.

We'd use him exactly as AC used Kaka.

Would he suit Utd and English football? Or would he be another Veron?

I havent seen that much of him so those are genuine questions.

Think more of Kaka. Where as Veron didn't suit our team at the time he would be perfect for the way we line up now.

It seems he has the technical ability and the physical size to handle the Prem. But what about his attitude?

If we have learned one thing from the Berba situation is that if you are weak mentally you will not prosper at OT.

Also is Pastore a player SAF would sign? I just don't see SAF splurging in the market again and dropping £25m plus = his recent big money record is a bit off.

Do we play a similar system to Milan? 4321's quite a unique system I'd have thought, and us playing without wingers seems quite hard to imagine.

Nah he'd be in a 4-3-3 variant. Going from supporting the loan striker to midfield easily. I don't buy this we have to play only certain formations to suit certain players. During his time for Huracan I saw him playing in a 2 man midfield a few times.

Just checked, he's out with injury. As is Pato.

We never made a bid for him, that's a lie and forget about him he's made for Barcelona and will probably end up playing there.

We made an offer that was accepted by the club but rejected by the player as he wanted didn't want to be on our bench.

His agent was lying, all the offers he got after his season with Huracan were from Italy. He was always going to Palermo and he will sign for Barcelona at the end of the season, forget about him, he will never play for Manchester United.

I'm sorry to crush your muppet heart, but that's the way it is. You can still sign him of FM.

"I'm very proud that a club like United are interested in me, but I want to play here for another six months and then when my contract is finished I will be able to choose where to go. The thing is that at clubs like Manchester United there are a lot of great players, and they are all internationals. I know that if I moved to a club like that, I'd have to wait to get my chance to play." The Guardian.

I also doubt we are ever going to sign him, but I know my muppet shit. You can't crush anything.

Well, believe whatever makes you happy.

I know what I'm talking about, I know about South American football and players, believe me, he will end up playing in Barcelona, we have never made a bid for him and if we do he will say no to us simple as that. I know you are crying I know you are broken inside, yes is hard to accept but we have to move on.

What the? I've always said we'd never get him and he dreams of Barcelona but the fact is the lad turned us down. Now sit down, take a big breath and be man enough to admit your wrong.

Don't believe everything you see about transfer rumours, Manchester United probably asked about him, but we never bid for him, he was always going to Palermo.

You make a fair point, but ffs you sound like a fecking 12 year old.

I agree he was always going to Italy, it was a toss up between Lazio and Palermo for a while, but the fact is still, the lad turned us down.

I have never read any article that he turned us down. All I know is that we scouted the kid and he was linked ahead of last season. We spent £17m on Anderson a couple of years ago. Before that Michael Carrick whom were a successful signing signing as he was brilliant his first couple of seasons. Ferguson could not know that Hargo would be ended by injuries.

The point is, signing Pastore ahead of last season, simply were not logical. We just signed Anderson for £17m, and he needs experience to evolve into Premier League material... He would have to compete with Anderson, Fletcher, Carrick, Hargreaves, Scholes and Ryan Giggs simply weren't logical... He would not have turned into the player he is today if we signed him, as he would get less time to evolve. Signing him now is a complete other deal, as he has developed into a top class player in one of the best leagues in the world...

Real is monitoring him which means we wont get him.

I can't say I've ever read of Real being interested, it's always Barcelona and in truth Real do not need him.

I imagine we'd end up giving him liscence to roam where he wants, much like we did with Ronaldo. I've seen Trequartista type players happily playing in a midfield 2. He can fit to our needs.

I think of him like Zidane, Rui Costa and Kaka, players I only saw play in a midfield free role where they weren't required to do much defending. Now I agree given his size and strength he could adapt to a midfield two, but I wonder if that would really be getting the best out of him.

Haven't we all had our fill of Argies fecking us over? feck em, disloyal cnuts.

Carrying on this theme we currently have our hands full with a Bulgarian fecking us over.

Not considering a player because of his nationality - well I hope we never sign another Bulgarian.:lol::lol:

Palermo Reject Real Madrid Offer For Javier Pastore

They do care Devil! ;)

Well there are plenty out there and more than likely when you first read it you read that some lad you've never heard of turned us down and went to Palermo instead. You'd have also heard me bleating away somewhere about how good this lad was whilst bein ignored. No biggy you thought, stupid kid, ruining his chances like that, silly muppet Gambit. Now everyone has noticed his quality, oh now it's real, but obviously he never actually turned us down, it was some strange mistake, we've got to have this lad. Media bullshit, Agent bullshit No he never turned us down, of course he didn't, if he did that means that one of the worlds great prospective talents, that we can plainly see is incredible and would sort out a lot of of our midfield creativity problems, won't be coming here.
I can't be arsed looking for the websites and news and interviews anymore. I've done it to death and every time someone comes into the thread they seem to act almost hurt or disbelieving that he turned us down. As if it's a slight on the club. I have read plenty, I have posted it plenty of times and we were in for him, as he is a great young talent and we go in for them regardless of who we have in the squad or have just purchased if they catch our eye. The lad turned us down, wanted to play in Italy and be a first team player, end of. thats what happened We contacted them, Pastore didn't want to play for us, turned us down to play for Palermo and dreams of playing for Barcelona. So yes he is an exceptioal talent and will be a balon dor winner and is the arguably the greatest prospect out there, but he won't be coming here, we'll be drooling over him all season and everyone will want to sign him and it will be a transfer race according to the media with us, chelsea, Madrid, Barca and City for his services and everyone will get excited by it, but then bemoan and wail when he does sign for Barca, whilst we don't sign anyone or sign some unknown form some unknown place, and were never in the race for him in the first place.

Fergie in the stands last night (sat alonside Zizou) running the rule over Pastore according to the commentators?

He and Zidane were in Doha to support their world cup bid. The Argentina/ Brazil game was a highlight to a day of media promotion to fifa over their bid, with delegates and paid football stars present. He wasnt there to watch Pastore. He was there collecting a nice pay cheque whilst pressing the flesh on behalf of the Qatar bid.

Real and Barca are interested in him. Barca are considering acquiring his services instead of Fabregas now. Real were thinking of getting him before he went to Palermo. As were we, when we had our bid rejected by him. Who knows on wether he could adapt to our playing style or sytem but as Isaid I have seen play in a midfield 2 and he didn't seem to suffer.

Did not Paul Scholes play a lot freer role when he was younger? He was up in the box all the time... In 07/08 season we played three players in free roles, Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez... Because Ronaldo defended less Rooney and Tevez did a bigger contribution. Fletcher too plays in somewhat of a free role? He is everywhere, but he regulates it after his opponents. So can Pastore, he is far more equipped to defend than both Kaka and Rui Costa (whom by the way worked brilliant in a two man midfield in his days in Fiorentina, and that was probably where he had his peak). Zidane actually did quite a bit defensively, like Cantona he seemed to be everywhere.

Problem with comparing Kaka and Pastore is that Kaka is not really a playmaker. He is extremely technical and very fast, but not the best passer in the game, last season he was second only too Marcelo in uncompleted passes. Kaka is a secondary forward, he was a winger before he headed to Milan, and then Ancelotti gave him a new role, where he as you say kind of got carried by Gattuso, Seedorf, Pirlo (the brilliant playmaker at that team) and Shevchenko. After Sheva left, he struggled - you kind of look to your top men to step up after such a departure, and Kaka didn't. Pastore can do a lot of the things Kaka can do, he is fast, not quite the pace of Kaka but still a fast player, but he is a far better passer, better at the defensive bit, he is actually stronger in the body than Paul Scholes whom always have done a decent defensive job... I believe Pastore can too but it will be a lot easier for him to adapt to those changes as young as he is, compared to for example Sneijder whom will be 27.

Punchline: A free role is all about adapting to the rest of the team. As a central midfielder in England you do have to do your share of defending. In Palermo, that is not as important, that does not mean Pastore can't do it (And it is false to claim that he does not contribute to Palermo's defense at all). He would not be used the same way in Manchester United as he would in Palermo, he would play against better opposition in a regular basis, but he would also have better team-mates.

Last thought. We play a lot of 4-5-1... How valuable would not a man like Pastore be in that formation? We really lack such a man when we do play 4-5-1.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has given his strongest hint yet that Argentinian playmaker Javier Pastore will leave the club next summer.

The 21-year-old is reported to be a target for several of Europe's top clubs, with Barcelona rumoured to be leading the pursuit.

Zamparini told Tuttosport: "Until the end of season he will play for Palermo. Despite my interest for the club and player, I am already looking for his replacement.

"It will be impossible to find a replacement because he is too good.

"Also, I feel it will be difficult for an Italian club to buy him. His price is already high at 70million euros - he will move abroad."
