Javier Pastore

It's not rumours, I can't be arsed going through it all again.

Still. Pastore's status today is something completely different than back in 2009. If he is to leave Palermo, the only upgrade would be a Champions League regulair, that can afford him. That pretty much leaves Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter and AC Milan.

A lot can change in two years, even if he did not want to join in 2009 that does not need to mean that he is not interested now. There is a lot of bollocks in circulation in different media as well.

If we make an offer, than we will find out if he is interested or not.

I think he's made it clear he wants to play in Spain. He'll be wearing the white of Madrid next year I reckon.

His problem there is that Real Madrid needs every single other position on the field more than they need a central midfielder. They need a forward more, I actually think Mourinho would like two new central forwards. It would not be difficult to improve the defence further and we know Mourinho likes that... Signing Pastore means dropping Kaka, so far Mourinho has made no intentions about doing that.

It is only a matter of time until Barcelona will sign Aguero. Not seen many links, but I know that that is likely to happen eventually, and they just signed Affelay... They don't need him and are far more likely to spend on someone else... When that time comes, I bet Fabregas will be the one to replace Xavi.

I don't think neither Barcelona or Real Madrid are very interested in Pastore right now. It is far more likely that he will make a domestic change in Italy, where he admits to feel at home... then again who can blame him? What could be a better place to live in the world than Sicily.

They've already bid for him, which was turned down. I can see Madrid off loading Kaka next season. I don't reckon Pastore will stay in Italy. His next move will be to Spain I believe.

I don't know if you are talking about Pastore but if you are talking about him... he's not a central midfielder.

He is not a forward neither. He plays in various positions for Palermo and seems to have the team built around him. But that is where he has his highest potential. At least I think so...

For what I see he's better playing as a Kaka.

Attack mid, too good going forward and on the ball to ever play as a true central midfielder. The kid is pure class, attack mid all the way or playmaker.

YOu never know with players that young but i'd be willing to put a lot on Pastore not being a central midfielder. He's just got playmaker (Zidane, Kaka type) written all over him. If he went to a big club he'd probably play as a forward, like Gerrard behind Torres, or in a wide area ala Messi and co.

New deal for Ando just makes the chances for going for Pastore sound slim...

Theres still a place available I reckon. Can see this being a fair few players last seasons at United. We'll more than likely though develop our youth more. If Anderon can keep his form it will take a lot of pressure off our midfield and allow the likes of Cleverly to develop into a firs team player.

That is not right. Anderson is not exactly a playmaker like Scholes or even Pastore for that matter. We still need a playmaker to replace Scholes. Now that Pastore is taken, Hamsik seems like the only option left for us this summer.

But I have seen Pastore done some brilliant passing that I never saw Kaka do.

Oh God there you are. I was looking for you. I don't know if you are related to Pastore or something, but you like this lad too much. You just talk about him like he is best player today. Don't even compare him to Kaka YET. He maybe better in the days to come but nowhere close to what Kaka achieved two to three years ago.

If anything I think Inter would swoop for him in a few years time to replace Sneidjer. They already wanted Hamsik a couple of seasons ago but Napoli were not willingly to see Hamsik.

SAFs targets are not the targets that Caftards and FM Muppets have in mind.

Nor will a contract extension necessarily rule out him going for his prime targets.

If you hadn't noticed, he has been linked with us before and recently too. I m not saying we are going to get him because he has been linked with us but there is a chance for us to get him given that he plays in a position we need replacing soon.

I was responding to your comment that he is seemingly the "only" target left, which is ludicrous. I wasn't making any comment on any individual player.

For my money this lad is like Iniesta. Center midfield would be piss easy for him.

TBF that has little to do with the fact the lad possess superior passing skills to Kaka.

As I see it that is very difficult to know as nobody has seen him in a two man midfield. But he has stamina and strength, Argentinians often play a physical game. I also think thinking like that is stupid, because if two men fits together depends on the two of them, rather then ones individual skills. But the good thing about Pastore is that he is young so he can adapt into a two man midfield. That might not be possible if we were to sign someone older...

As has been mentioned, just because Anderson is playing well and has signed a new contract it doesn't mean Fergie would not bring in another AM, it always pays to have more than one option for any position. Having said that I'd be shocked is Pastore ended up here.

His natural game is to get forward, Iniesta can pretty much play anywhere from the middle to the front. Pastore will burst into the box and get goals which is/was never really the biggest part of Iniestas game. That's why i think Pastore will be more of a traditional number 10. Time will tell and of course he could do that job perfectly well, i just don't know if it would get the very best out of him yet.

The only high profile player left. Ozil, Schweni, Sniedjer, VDV, Pastore are all gone.

How are they gone ? You'd say Veron was at his Peak and he'd look like an unlikely transfer but we managed it so I can hardly say that a player is gone... Unless he is crocked like Hargreaves.

I meant they either moved to a different team or just signed a new contract. So we can't get them to replace Scholes in the next year or two. Hamsik signed a new contract too but he is a little unsettled and he said he would be willingly to join us.

As I said, a contract renewal will not necessarily stop SAF.

Calling Pastore high profile is laughable. Hamsik too. VDV is debatable.

There are countless other options as well.

Banega.

If he develops into the same player Iniesta is. It won't matter where he will be placed. He will excel in all those roles.

Seems to have gone back to having off the field distractions. He said last season he owes it to his girlfriend that he was settling down and working hard on his football career and in that time he played fantastically. I've no idea if he's split with his girlfriend or something, but this season he's had injury and been fined for missing training sessions.

All is not right with him at Valencia at the moment and for most of the season they have continued without him starting.

It could be that a change of scenery brings a change of attitude and Sir Alex can put him right. Or he could bring his problems, whatever they are, with him

Anderson is not a Scholes type player. He cannot replace Scholes. He is not a playmaker.

People said the same thing about Carrick replacing Keane, what Sir Alex is best at is making teams evolve and continually 'replacing' players by changing the style.

Sir Alex said:
“The idea was that Anderson would replace Scholes and Nani would replace Giggs in the long term."

“Scholes is not ready for the shelf – he can play until he’s 36. But Anderson absolutely has the qualities to replace him.”

That's interesting and a shame. I was actually going to PM you to ask what was up with him at the moment. I thought when he was fined he wasn't the only player guilty of drinking and partying late, but the only one guilty of turning up to training late and hungover. Hmm, hopefully he gets back on track. The injury could be a big factor.

All the way back in November 2007 when everyone was first raving about him, see here.

Sky Sports | Football | Serie A | News | Pastore spurned Spain interest

Argentine starlet Javier Pastore claims he turned down 'concrete' offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid in favour of staying at Palermo.

The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to both Spanish clubs, as well as Manchester City and Chelsea, but penned a new deal at the Sicilian outfit last month to extend his stay there until 2015.

The midfielder says the interest from Barca and Real was solid, but he wanted to guarantee himself playing time by remaining at Palermo.

"The offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid were concrete, they approached the club and my agent," Pastore told Olé.

"Most of the players would accept but I chose to stay in Palermo because I know that here I'll always play.

"I'm learning a lot, I don't want to stop this learning. When I'm sure that I am going to a great club to play then I'll go.

"I don't want to go and after six months I have to go on loan to another club where I should start again.

"If I keep growing, the proposal would have to appear again".

Sensible lad. I'm sure it would have been the easiest thing in the world to join one of those two.
