this makes no sense. Arsenal don't play on the counter. what's he going to do without space? lol. Typical Wenger.

Wallcott and Wellbeck seemed to do quite well using their pace tbh.
Also Arsenal played a few of the tough games on the counter e.g City Chelsea etc

You think he'd leave Leicester now to be a squad player? That'd be mad.

I agree.

Do you think he's much better than Giroud?
Do you think traditional top teams like Arsenal (ie not one season blaggers like leicester) operate guaranteed starters bar the super quality likes of Sanchez and Ozil?)
He'll have to compete to start

Decent signing if true. Not sure if he'll improve Arsenal all that much, but he will be a good addition to have especially if Walcott leaves and Welbeck is injury prone.

From Arsenal's POV, no. But from his POV I think it'd be a daft move. Guaranteed starter at Leicester next season with a team of friends who are competing in the CL. If it's true that Leicester are offering him 80K a week and Arsenal 140K, given he's 29, I get it. But still, a bit of a shite move IMV.

With regards to Giroud, I don't know if he's technically better or not, but I'd personally sign Vardy for United than Giroud. He's relentless and that's infectious. I don't think he's a flash in the pan at all.

They messed up almost all their counters last season because of an inadequate front man to focus on.

Indeed so Vardy may help, IF he can carry on last seasons from, but thats quite an if

Will be very interesting to see how he gets on with a different "training regime" let's say :wenger:

Haha. Yes. That goes for all those Leicester players. If they are going to dismantle that team then we should be going for the two others.

As per rumours, Arsenal favourites to sign Mahrez as well. Not sure how reliable but odds slashed tremendously

Why would you move to a job paying you twice as much as your existing one? These days it's all about the economics and I don't know why footballers are held to a different standard than the average person seeking better for themselves. He's making a basic career decision which we have to admit 90% of us would take.
Arsenal's offer is not even close to being twice as much to what he gets from the existing contract. Leicester wisely (enough?) made him a rich man already...

Mahrez would be a really good signing for them, and one that would strike fear which Vardy alone doesn't. A front three of Mahrez - Vardy - Sanchez would look amazing on paper.

Arsenal spending big so early is a bit incongruous.

I'll believe it when it's confirmed.

Arsenal are a bunch of arseholes and now to my delight they have a little cnut.
Harsh but have to say I agree with this. There's something horribly petulant about the modern Arsenal. The George Graham team was admirable in its old-school approach but there's a nasty petulance and self entitlement about the modern club. Vardy will fit right in with Wiltshire and his mates.

LOL.

Have you read this forum post-Ferguson? Talk about entitlement and petulance.

Vardy's lookalike blocked me on Twitter because I asked him what he's going to do if/when Vardy signs for Arsenal..

I don't think he's taking it very well.

Feel for the arsenal fans. From benzema to higuain to aubamayeng to vardy. It's a decent signing but not better than what they currently have at the moment. Thank God for wenger.

I cannot see how £20 million on Vardy is good deal.
It's not an RVP type transfer, where he is of such quality that he's worth the gamble, its Jamie Vardy, he hits double figures every other season, and only manages 5 or 6 goals on his off seasons, and that's at every stage of his career.

But then Wenger thought Welbeck was a good buy so who knows what's going on in his head.

Another way of looking at it is that he struggles when moving up a league and then hits high numbers the 2nd season when he's come to terms with it. Now that might mean that he will struggle in his first season at a bigger club, or that he's already acclimatised to the premier league.

Wenger's eyes for striker, is like Fergie's for midfielder. The older they get, the worser it seems.

You could say that Arsenal will be looking for the man they call, rather hilariously
(I understand it's mainly just me in my house, tbf)

the Invisible Fish to feed the Diver, innit?

:D :D :D

If they do net Vardy...

I got a feeling a number of these Leicester 'superstars' will be found out next year esp if they move, imo Vardy is one of them.

With England side off to france and Roy not giving permission to players to get their transfers done in between, is the deal off? There were reports yesterday, that the deal needs to be done by today else the deal may be off.

Does anyone know if the buyout clause can only be triggered by Champions League clubs? Just seems strange that he would suit Mourinho's style so well and we were linked with him.

Apparently we rejected the chance to sign him because we want Rashford to develop.

Realistically it would apply to all clubs. If Vardy wants to leave would Leicester turn down 1m more than the clause if both were on the table?
What would be the point?

I think the same tbh. I still haven't heard a clear explanation as to why they improved so much, just praise for them doing so which doesn't tell anyone whether or not they'll be able to play that well again.

There was a report, dont remember the source, but apparantly, Pool were interested as well, but since the clause is applicable to only CL clubs, their offer was rejected

Well I'm sure he's more use to Leicester than the £20m or £21m so quite feasible they'd reject offers from the likes of us or Liverpool if we can't trigger the clause. Would make sense alright.
