Jamie Vardy | Signs new contract

The problem with this signing is that if it doesn't work & Wenger leaves then the new manager would have 30 yr old Vardy plus Giroud so it's a massive gamble.

Hardly a gamble to have a squad full of good different type players.

I cannot see how £20 million on Vardy is good deal.
It's not an RVP type transfer, where he is of such quality that he's worth the gamble, its Jamie Vardy, he hits double figures every other season, and only manages 5 or 6 goals on his off seasons, and that's at every stage of his career.

But then Wenger thought Welbeck was a good buy so who knows what's going on in his head.

The amount you pay for a transfer doesn't matter a bit. It's just supporter nonsense. Clubs like ours and yours are in a position to pay premium rates.

This is Arsenal, he will be injured for six months out of the next eighteen and I don't see their medical staff helping him with the bunions on his face. Arsenal are a bunch of arseholes and now to my delight they have a little cnut. I doubt Wenger will have them finishing in the top four this season.

But tell us how you really feel.

Vardy and his agent will arrive for talks and his agent will tell him to keep his poker face on during negotiations. "What, you mean contorted by alcohol and anger, screaming at a Japanese bloke"?

Indeed. It's like that thing where people don't seem to be able to understand why we overpay for players compared to teams like Porto or Villareal, or whatever. When you spend all of your time talking about how much money you have, teams will ask for more. The idea that the prices of footballers are linear, or somehow relative to all other transfers is one of the more misguided modern supporter concepts.

Not worried at all by this transfer to be honest. He is a good player, but he is not quite Ibrahimovic.

It depends on how he adjusts to playing infront of a defense rather than behind it.
Meh, I think there's always space for him to exploit with the likes of Ozil, Sanchez, Xhaka and Cazorla behind him although yes it might a bit harder.

Actually it is a big gamble,as I said if he doesn't do well and a new manager comes in then having a lot of average strikers on big contracts is a very tough situation to handle.

Vardy
Sanchez Ozil Ramsey
Xhaka Cazorla
Monreal Koscielny ? Bellerin
Cech
Very decent team Arsenal will have next season.

Ramsey out wide isn't viable.

Its more likely to be the following..

??? (Morata?)
Vardy Ozil Sanchez
Xhaka Cazorla
??? Koscielny ??? Bellerin
Cech

Why the feck would he move to Arsenal? and do that to the Leicester fans.
Money?
I doubt he earned a fortune in the lower leagues
He has a chance this summer (which he will probably never have again) to financially secure his and his families future
I'm sure he could get a payrise at Leicester but probably not as much as arsenal can offer

It'd be a total waste to sign him and play him wide.

They won't play him wide.

They'll be in for Mkhitaryan as well and have Iwobi who looks promising on the wings.

Vardy
Sanchez Özil Mkhitaryan
Cazorla Xhaka
Rodriguez-Koscielny-Gabriel-Bellerin
Cech

Man imagine going from a club that had the balls to punch above their weight and bring home the title, to a club that doesn't have the balls to even pass a 'cough' examination.

Xhaka and Cazorla is a midfield that is waiting to get overrun. You need protection especially with those two fullbacks. And Gabriel isn't very good too.

Vardy's signed a contract in Feb increasing his salary to £80,000 a week, but after Leicester won the title it will further rise to £100,000 a week from the incoming season. I hugely doubt that Arsenal are going to offer him much more than that(probably something about £130,000) and with or without Vardy you know exactly what season you're going to get under Wenger.

Why would you move to a job paying you twice as much as your existing one? These days it's all about the economics and I don't know why footballers are held to a different standard than the average person seeking better for themselves. He's making a basic career decision which we have to admit 90% of us would take.

Don't think Vardy will suit Arsenals attempt at possession football at all. The patient build up just allows defences to sit deep, depriving him of that space he needs to run at defenders.

Strangely I think he'd be perfect for a Mourinho counter attacking team with the pace and direct running he brings, especially away from home and with Martial and Rashford making runs to give him space.

Strange move for Arsenal in my opinion, Vardy is a total counter attacking striker and Arsenal are very much possession based. I am actually genuinely baffled that they are after him. Really is a 50/50 transfer with regards to it being a success. Wenger also almost always buys potential, I wonder if this is his last roll of the dice before he retires at the end of the season? Similar to how SAF brought RVP.

Like everyone said its strange signing for Arsenal as the football is very different. But since its not going to be very expensive and Vardy is obviously a very good player based on last season performance, could as well be a bargain.

What's all this guff about Arsenal not being able to do fast counter-attack footy? It happens every game.

this makes no sense. Arsenal don't play on the counter. what's he going to do without space? lol. Typical Wenger.
