James Rodriguez| Is considering his options

Considering the rumoured fee, I'd rather just splash a bit more and get Pogba.

He's a brilliant player, one of the best of the more available players in the market for certain. Id rather be paying top dolla for him than 35-40m on an unknown or a fecking Felipe anderson.

He's very much a luxury player like Mata. I would rather stick with Mata instead of investing in James, as much as I like him.

Isco would be better suited to The Premier League.

I feel like this would go one of two ways, rather he comes to the Premier League and is one of the best players in the league or he will be a big flop.

I'm not sure but it's a risk worth taking in my opinion.

Mendes can piss off of he thinks he can lodge any more of his clients here with a big signing on fee and huge wages while they plot their move to somewhere warmer.

He'll cost a lot more than £35m and rightly so.

I'm not so sure tbh, 44.5m euros is quite a fair price. I don't think we should be paying anything over 50m euros. They're never going to get that 80m back they paid for him.

Never say never.

Without champions league football (hopefully we get 4th!) we might just be desperate enough to attract a "marquee" and pay over the odds.

I hope we don't, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did happen.

The problem with Mendes clients is that they look for a way out as soon as they are unhappy. It could be another Di Maria situation. They more they move the more money Mendes makes.

*sigh* that's sad, because it's so true. I have a little faith that we won't do a Di Maria again, after getting our fingers burnt.

Dont want him, waste of money. He isnt exactly what we need, he doesnt want to play for us and his off the field issues are worrying. If he would work harder and focus for once, he could be a world beater. As of now, he really would be far too risky for the money we would spend on him. Di Maria was much more fitting, and it still went bust. Another South American misfit, no thanks. Lets go hard after Isco.

I agree, Isco is the man we should be going after hard.

This is all Mendes see's when he looks at us, a desperate big club on the slide with loads of money. Money that he can get a share of by offering us whichever of his clients are being offloaded by better teams.

We'll never close the gap taking castoffs, we should be signing players these clubs don't want to sell, like Madrid are trying to do with De Gea.
I fear it's only going to get worse when Mourinho arrives, he's far too close to Mendes and there was definitely some mutual back scratching going on even during his time in Madrid.

Don't think we'd ever be stupid enough to let Mourinho give Mendes an office at our training ground like he did in Madrid though.

Whatever makes you feel better. Can't actually remember us being fleeced like Man City buying James Milner.. But okay.

Real Madrid let a lot of quality players go, look how well Robben, Sneijder and Di Maria have done since leaving there, it's the nature of the club to have a lot of turnover every time there is a new shiny toy to be had.

Having said that I have some reservations over James mentality and lack of pace.

You what mate?

Mendes is not looking out for us, he's trying to sell us whatever client he has available after their club wants to sell, not the player that's right for us.

Do you think he lost any sleep over the fact that Bebe, Nani, Anderson, Falcao, and Di Maria were largely crap signings for us? Of course not, he prob made €15m+ from those deals. He tries to take credit for the Ronaldo deal but wasn't he being sued by another football agency who claim they put the deal together. He wasn't even Martial's agent but has been trying to claim responsibility for us signing him too. Madrid's f*ck up with the deal for De Gea has also seen Mendes claim he "kept" him with us.

If you can't see the massive conflict of interest in Mendes representing both us and the player we're trying to buy in a transfer then there's little point in attempting to debate it with you. He'd be in prison for insider trading in other industries:lol:

Mendes is a cnut but he is juts doing his job
.
Not his problem Woodward knows nothing about football and market value.

40M pounds for James would be a great dealio, but if we are in some tight financial spell and money is limited, then we need to prioritize at least 4 or 5 players (in other positions) before thinking in James.

Nani, crap? Nani represents 40 goals and 73 assists in 230 games, in comparison David Silva registered 43 goals and 89 assists in 256 games.

Are these real assists or are you counting fantasy football style winning free kicks and penalties as assists? Can you link the stats there like a good man.

We all know on his day he was far from crap but those day's were all to few and far between during his 8 years with us. We ended up only getting a couple of million for him after paying his wages for a season while he was off playing in Portugal. This in his "prime" at 28 years old.

Frustrating player because there was talent there but yeah I'd say he was prob the best of a crap bunch of players that Mendes sold to us for massively inflated fees.

From transfermarkt.

Why free kicks shouldn't be counted, an assist from free kick is still an assist.

Though still not completely convinced James could do it in the PL, we certainly could use a proper attacking midfielder with his deadly passing skills. Set up two goals yesterday as Colombia tore apart the previously undefeated, first place Ecuadorian side. He´s forming quite an understanding with Carlos Bacca. Very different player away from the Real Madrid circus. Great two matches against Bolivia and Ecuador on the international break.

Easily can see him triggering Martial, Rashford or any pacey new striker with a chance plus in perfect age to be signed for United. He would have time to adjust to the league and previous rich experience from big stages would probably allow him to make substantial impact in the first season.

No matter how critically we can see it, it would be an upgrade on what we currently have even with underused Herrera.

The highest expectations don't mean jumping a ship every chance you get. Building - you should try it.

Seriously though? Rodriguez would potentially block, Januzaj, Rashford,Martial,Pereira,Lingard,Mata,Rooney, off games. A player who is not needed in their best position.
Replacing mata like for like.

You are going to hate when Jose is here next season and MUFC is successful again.
It is going to eat you up.

If he uses the youngsters from this season - why would I hate it? It just proves me right? That teams after LVG stints full of youth are trained to perfection but lacking the cutting edge. Bring that in and we are good to go.

Trained to perfection??!

Or they are badly trained by Van gaal and the next manager trains them to perfection.
