James Rodriguez| Is considering his options

The idea that they can recoup what they paid for a player they are seemingly desperate to sell is fanciful and almost arrogant. They overpaid for him in the first place. Nobody will pay €80m for him, not even PSG.

The off field issues are a concern, don't need that bullshit in the squad. It surprises me as he really didn't seem that type at all.

The big worry would be that we are buying him to bring in a star name, without having an actual set plan of how to use him. He's a #10 and would struggle on the RW in the PL as he's not that fast, so that would beg the question of would we be bringing him to play his natural role, and if so will that be behind Rooney as the #9? If so I see no point.
Or could be like David Silva who did very well coming in off the wing with no pace

All the noises from Monaco and Madrid portray him as a fair weather player. Disappears when the chips are down. Not sure I want.

To be fair at Monaco he admitted that he wasn't giving his best, I'm sure that Ranieri would have fixed him with one more season, someone like Mourinho could fix him too.

Both those articles talk about the car chase which he had a decent excuse for.

The other stuff seems to be unconfirmed rumours and things that a lot of footballers could be accused of.

Fair points, usually no smoke with out fire though mind you and the fact he will probably be moved on says something.

In the price of the player is included the income that he produces.Premier League is mega ultra rich so I don't know where is the problem.80m€ is nothing for a player with that talent.
He is a player of Mendes so probably Mourinho will adapt.
I thought that he would change after the warnings of the club but seems that he is letting himself being carried away.
I suspect that might be personal problems with his wife Daniela Ospina, who went back to Colombia months ago.
Eduardo Inda(a periodist)said some days ago that Madrid board and agents have nicknamed him as "Ozil II" .
Night life, bad games, problems with police and an inopportune renewal demand but I still see it as a very weird transfer.
Selling 2 attacking midfielders ,Isco and James ,the same summer seems too radical, even if the club prepares a revolution.

It's seems even more radical with a 'transfer ban'.

Its a good point but half of our current squad are that way but dont have the excellent talent to back it up when they do finally show up in matches, I'd take a more talented player of the same mold if available as I'm sure top drawer players are not jumping through hoops to sign for us at the moment. But in an ideal world we could do with excellent players who give their all every game for sure.

It will depend a lot on CL football and Jose being in charge whether we can even attract these type of player, going to be an interesting summer but one thing I'm sure of is we need 5 new very good players for the first team if we want to win anything.

Talented enough? certainly
Motivated enough? doesn't look like it
Potential issues settling in Manchester? If his missus doesn't like it in Madrid, then I'm guessing she's not going to jump at the chance to live here :)

= a pretty resounding 'no' imo

I didn't ask for your IQ? There are pros and cons to everyone. Or is this too complicated a concept? :) We will only have so much to spend. If we bought Rodgriguez, there is less opportunity for rotation. Mehrez is not a typical winger but he could be very effective and he would probably cost half the money. I'm not really interested in the thoughts of a moron. So you are excused...lol.

He's one of those players that are technically excellent but unless he's scoring goals I don't know what he's offering. He's certainly nowhere near worth anything over £50 million although I will add he's an extremely marketable player.

It's not important but it's Mahrez.

Play nicely.

James is hardly a winger, i also doubt it's wise to pay what Real asks for him. He is not a top player. He had a good World Cup, but in club football he is yet to show anything really special. He has not exactly featured in Real's team much, certainly was not a key man there, his season is largely underwhelming. And given what type of player he is, can he adjust in Premier League?
So paying big for him is a very risky and i think foolish business. We should really look elsewhere.

If we want to be the best everytime we have a chance to upgrade we should. He is better than any current no.10 we have, as much as I like mata.

I wouldn't compare him to do Maria as I feel we will have a much better man manager than LVG next season in Jose

Agreed (for the most part). There are bigger upgrades with fewer question marks out there though.

He is lazy too.

Then again, Mourinho made it work with Ozil. But Ozil is the most creative player not named Messi.

Sign another Madrid reject?
One that is less effective than the last one, who was a disaster? One that was bought because he is prettier than his predecessor?
No ta!
If Leicester has shown us anything, a decent trier is more effective than a talented moper.
Buy Balotelli.

This young man is a superb player, and worth to build around. Would be crazy to say no to him. At the right price.

Robben, Ozil, and Sneijder were Madrid reject.

I'd be pissed if we ended up spending a stupid amount on him. Feck dealing with that club.

Whoever said we needed to focus on pacy athletic players was spot on - Griezmann/Mahrez please.

If we could get him and recoup half the money on a Mata sale, it's probably a good idea. James isn't perfect but only Ozil and Silva would seem to be more creative passers than him, with De Bruyne at a similar level. Gives Martial a long-term partner in the attack going forward. Either:

Memphis-Martial--------
-------------------James
----Herrera---CM-------
-------Schneiderlin-----

or

----------Martial-------
Memphis--James---RW
-Schneiderlin-Herrera-

look like exciting young front 6s and better options than what we have now.
