Has he EVER put in a performance for us? Dortmund took us to the cleaners on the transfer - and his agent on wages we've offered him.
He hasn't been anywhere near good enough. I hope he improves but in the back of my mind I feel we should've bought someone like Kamaldeen Sulemana who's a young explosive winger that is comfortable on either foot and would've cost us a very reasonable price. And funnily enough, our lead scout in Scandanavia (Tommy Møller Nielsen) recommended young Sulemana and went on to say he was the biggest talent playing in Scandanavia at the time.
I do hope Sancho comes good but I do feel we should try signing Antony from Ajax next summer. Antony is quick and the biggest difference between Sancho and Antony is that Antony plays with a high intensity both with and without the ball and is a dynamic player with quick lateral movement with the ball.
Federico Chiesa was another player that was discussed on the forum when he was at Fiorentina, and imo at the time, I felt he could go on to have a better career than Sancho due to his warrior like mentality and his general intensity on the pitch. I feel we get too hung up on goals and assists and have a blind spot towards build up play and transitions and the total composition of what makes the collective tick.
There was posts on here (circa 2019/2020) where people were saying we should've spent the reported €120m to sign him and that would've got us CL football. Can you guys have imagined the state of this place if we hadn't signed him last summer? I reckon someone would've burned down Woodward's house. Not signing him would've been the primary reason for Ole getting sacked.
I want it to happen for Jadon. I really do. However, this looks like it's going the way of Kagawa and Mhkitarayan.

I still hope he comes good for us but it reinforces the point I've made in other threads about the issues not being that we don't spend or buy players, but rather we do spend and buy players for huge money that haven't been good enough. I think if the club adopted a strategy where we approached the transfer window with a mindset that we won't spend more than 40m on any one signing, I think the rebuild would be a lot quicker. But I'm not sure the fan base would be happy with that approach, or maybe they'd be more receptive to such a approach now.
Our two biggest signings have been Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire. And if you compare it to the business our rivals have done in comparison it paints a very bleak picture. Nobody would've said Wijnaldum would turn out to be a better player for Liverpool than Pogba for United in 2016. And the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal wouldn't swap Konate and Saliba for Maguire. And these players were bought for reasonable prices by the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.
Arsenal are a club who only two years ago were described by Sven Mislintat (former head of recruitment) as being a complete mess behind the scenes. And they fired a number of scouts and paid out a number of players to leave the club. And in the subsequent 3 years since being made DoF, it does seem like Edu has got a system going where they've improved the team and are signing the correct profile of player via a scouting network that was restructured a few years ago. And from the two games they've played, it does seem like they've developed a identity/style of play. But the likes of Edu took a lot of flak from the fans in the preceding years.
Spending nearly £60 million on a small CB to play in the Premier League is hardly the work of a genius and it will be interesting to see how this pans out. There was posts on here (circa 2019/2020) where people were saying we should've spent the reported €120m to sign him and that would've got us CL football.

Agreed.Agree with everything. To me, you should only be signing players in that 50m+ category rarely AND if you're actually trying to win the CL or the league in the immediate season. You're targeting the wrong football if not. It's why the obsession with FDJ is strange because he's not the right player for our immediate goals - and neither does he believe he is.
We could sign 3 players for that budget, 2 of them might not be good enough for our long term ambitions. However if we sign them for reasonable prices and salaries, when we do outgrow them we should be able to move them on.
Spending £45m plus £8 million in add ons might be a little high but at least let the player settle into new surroundings before passing judgment. Many had written Vidic and Evra off in their first half season at the club.Spending nearly £60 million on a small CB to play in the Premier League is hardly the work of a genius and it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
I didn’t....I knew instantly that Evra was a much better fit than Heinze and Vidic was a specimen!Spending £45m plus £8 million in add ons might be a little high but at least let the player settle into new surroundings before passing judgment. You can’t. United isn't a club, it's a company and therefore wouldn't be allowed in the Bundesliga. If you get rid of the Glazers however and do it the right way...The Bundesliga must be truly terrible. Maybe we should move the club to Germany.
I keep saying this over and over. He’s a left winger. He’s so uncomfortable on the right. Rashfords so shit we may as well move him to the right because he’s doing nothing in his favoured position.
Don't worry the Dutch league players tend to do even worse.Yeah, it must be down to the league and club he came from. Can’t be that it’s all due to your club being a toxic cesspool that destroys basically every single player that comes into contact with it. No, that wouldn’t make sense. It just has to be Dortmund‘s fault or the Bundesliga‘s.
After all, all the players you bought from the prem are huge successes. Like Shaw. Or Wan Bissaka. Or Schneiderlein. Or Fellaini. Or Maguire. They all worked out great for you guys.
You should only buy from the Danish and Malaysian leagues. Don’t think you have ever had bad experiences with those.Don't worry the Dutch league players tend to do even worse.
