I think in isolation his performance was decent yesterday. His possession numbers were by far the best of our attacking players. He dribbles and progressed the ball well, it's just that he was so ineffective whenever he got near the penalty area.

2nd on my list after Sanchez and just ahead of Pogba in 3rd.
I would have said Sanchez but it was fairly obvious he was physically shot and he came on a free also, so I'd say Sancho beats him in that regard because he cost a shit tonne of money and he's got no excuse other than he doesn't want to or can't be arsed.

I’m definitely not a big Sancho fan, but just watching the highlights now and to be fair he nicked the ball that led to our only goal

Underwhelming this season.
If he doesnt pick up his form soon he could seriously find himself dropped down the pecking order for that Left-Wing Forward spot next season..

He was alright against Bournemouth but I expect better. He still doesn’t show enough aggression and he’s being too passive.

The moment in the first half when he just stood watching the Bournemouth players attacking like 10 yards away from him was absolutely maddening. We then won it back and gave him the ball and gave the ball straight away.

Not looking good for him.

Decent in flashes

think this sums up his United career

be interesting to see what Ten Hag thinks about his future.... he should thrive (or do better at least) in a United side with more control and possession

would still like to see him play more narrow at times where we might see Bruno given his touch and interplay

I understand the general frustration amids the expectations but yesterday I thought he was at least better than Antony or Martial (which is not that difficult). I also thought that besides 2 excellent actions we were more error prone with Garnacho. I remember the lob back pass to Shaw that led to a counter attack. Garnacho is definitely the future LW, but there's a reason he should get introduced slowly to the team and learn the discipline.

Sancho was the best of the three underperforming forwards v Bournemouth. Still a ways to go to meet expectations.

Dan James left United having scored 6 goals + 7 assists in 3341 PL mins.

Jadon Sancho currently 8 goals + 5 assists in 3421 PL mins.

On expected goals + expected assists per 90 mins, Sancho is ahead 0.38 to 0.34.

So, we exchanged Dan James for Dan James, but on a 300k/week wage and paid £70m for it. Good one.

The worrying thing about that comparison is Dan James was unreal defensively as well

Think Sancho has a little more to his game than the 'kick it and run' style of Dan James, not that he's shown much of it in a United shirt though!

So what’s the best we can hope for if ETH is not planning with him for next season?
To loan him to Dortmund and if he does well to hope they or some other club buys him?
I am not even sure he would do well at Dortmund. It won’t be easy to do well after being an EPL flop.
Previously when he played for them it was all rosy: pressure free, young lad, on borrowed time anyway because everyone knew he would end up in the PL sooner rather than later, they gave him very good wages knowing it would not be forever but this way they could keep him a bit longer, etc.
The situation this time would be completely different for him. If he doesn’t perform there we will keep loaning him to different clubs until his contract expires. Him being back at Dortmund while his ex teammates Haaland and probably Bellingham will be playing well for City and Madrid.

Didn't see the game but sounded a lot like recent showings eh?

Sigh. So much expectation and honestly delivering so little. It's bewildering.

Don't like the revisionism on his pre-United career. He was exceptional and rightly regarded as one of the hottest young talents in football. That wasn't the Bundesliga's doing; he was playing and thinking like a rounded professional and had no lack of ambition or creativity to his attacking game.

What we've seen here is not the player who was touted - something has gone fundamentally wrong and this same Sancho wouldn't be close to standout in any league, let alone return to the heights he'd hit for Dortmund.
He's always looked shit for England too, hasn't he? Maybe it was something specific to Dortmund's system that made him flourish.

Surely not the system. He was impressive for four seasons, playing multiple roles in multiple systems (and at times during a total lack of a proper system).

But he had good and bad spells all the time, and it looks like while Dortmund was able to get the good spells out of him, United never was and might never be. And it looks to be the same for England. But it can't be about position or tactics, considering how often those things changed at Dortmund.

He had a promising start to the season, got injured then had some time off.

SInce his return in early February he's been well underwhelming imo. Not good enough.

That clearly points to a motivation or mentality issue for me. For a young guy who hasn't experienced any major physical damage there should be no reason why he can't train to meet his appropriate 'fighting weight' and focus on speed, balance, technique. Those are all trainable so it's making me feel like it's more that he doesn't want to be here at all.

I don't think he's been able to handle the step up for United. He does have all the technical qualities you'd want but he seems to play within himself and I think we sell and Garnacho/Diallo easily take his place. I don't want to be in another situation where we hang on to a squad player on stupid wages for 5 years and take a massive hit, whilst they take up space and money. I'd rather we bite the bullet now, sell him for a loss to someone like Chelsea and cover some of his wages (since no one is paying him 200k a week)

Literally no defensive line. Pure freedom to run in to and just run straight in to it.

That's just not true. Two of the examples in the videos were counters, and there's clearly a defensive line/organisation in the non-counter example. Also, that's against Bayern - which is a better team than all prem teams, except maybe City. Regardless, his physical capabilities and ability on the ball look very different to what he has produced here for some reason.

Think the point is that he doesn’t look like a fat Traveller who can barely get out of a jog. It’s a myth that “he wasn’t fast at Dortmund either”, which a lot say here. Maybe not absolutely lightning, but he was fast enough and has had no serious injuries. What the feck has happened to him?

It's bizarre how a player who looked like a no brainer has come here and been so ineffective. Hopefully we bring in a top quality striker in the Summer and then he'll have no excuses.

Who knows what the issue is, maybe being back in England is bad for him and he does better away from distractions in a foreign league? feck knows. If he could find half of his form from Dortmund he'd be a useful player.

He's come from a league where Weghorst scored 20 in a season. It's not rocket science.

Can't wait if/until Ten Hag wakes up and bins this guy in favour of a proper winger with pace.

He stayed ahead of prime David Alaba with the ball in that video. These days he can’t outrun Dan Burn even without the ball.

Something changed and I suspect it’s the huge salary and an unhealthy diet/lifestyle. He declined physically and his weak mind followed suit. Indiscipline to summarise in one word.

He has caught the Deli Ali syndrome.

Swapped for Micky who cost about 37 mill only a few years' prior wasn't he?

That is not enough. We need to ask him to recommend us a right back and left back he wants us to buy and we need to ensure we give him the exact midfielder he needs to thrive. We should be building the team around this guy.

Man Utd 4:1 Chelsea
Really good today, keep him on the right
