His wages is what will keep him here unfortunately. He does not have the desire or the mental strength to perform at OT. Just a step too big for him I feel. Has all the talent but no swagger to use it. Falls to pieces in all big moments.

I fully agree.
Even when Antony wasn't offering anything going forward, he was still contributing with his positioning and work-rate off the ball. The guy goes into tackles and challenges for headers he has no chance of winning whilst Sancho seems a bit soft. We need to move him on, either permanent or maybe a loan in order to increase his value because I honestly prefer Garnacho over him.
 
Even though he obviously wasn't great last night, I didn't understand the logic in taking him off when there's a 50/50 chance of Martial going off injured and then being forced to bring on Weghorst or Elanga.

It's fine to be critical of players, but just to add some context he was playing with Dalot and Wan Bissaka as his partners on the left. He's never been a winger who will do it all himself, but can be very effective with an attacking full back. It's also a tough gig because we don't have a striker busting a gut to get on the end of crosses or making clever runs for him to spot.

I don't think he has been good enough so far, but I also don't think he's been given the right tools to shine. That's also true for Anthony who I have always felt needed time and will look much better once he has a forward to look for and a better right back to link up with. Even Messi or De Bruyne would struggle for assists playing with Weghorst and a broken Martial.
 
He's always had the talent, seems increasingly like he can't handle the pressure at Manchester united. Seems to shy away when the going gets tough.
 
I wonder if we could tempt Bayern. It sounds as if they’re looking to move Mane on which would free up a space.

Obviously Sabitzer is of interest to us so if we wanted to make that move permanent then maybe this is a way to save the transfer kitty for other positions (GK anyone?).

It would be low risk for Bayern with potential high reward if he rediscovered his Bundesliga form.

A big financial loss for us but do we cut our losses now? His contract runs to 2027 and if he has another season like this we have no chance of finding a buyer.

What is he especially good at to say he's had the talent? Close control and weight of pass is all I can see. Not especially pacey, doesn't often beat his man, doesn't cross well, doesn't work hard enough tracking back and reluctant to finish.

Not sure what his position is.
 
The problems that this guy is having is impossible to fix. Fragile mentality and no fight whatsoever is just something that will stay with him.
 
From what I've seen of him, I can't believe there aren't kids walking around Manchester who couldn't put in better performances. Absolute dud.
 
The game just goes on around him. I think we should move him on if the chance arises in the summer. His value is only going in one direction and he doesn’t do the things ETH wants him to.
 
He shrinks in pressure games and only shows flashes in other games. Nowhere near the level needed.
 
Would rather see Pellestri given minutes than persist with Sancho. Won't succeed here. Too slow, can't beat a man, can't spot a pass, doesn't pop up with enough goals. He literally offers nothing.

Dribbling - he is very poor at it. Rashford, Martial, Antony are easily better than him.

Passing - i didn't see any pass that he played that others couldn't have pulled it off. His passing is safe and average. He can't play killer pass like Bruno or Eriksen. He can't play long pass to switch the side of the attack.

Shooting - probably our weakest shooter.

General playmaking - almost nothing.

I think people get the impression that he is good technically because he is slow and plays at very slow pace.

He's not even in the top 10.
 
He has had the benefit of the doubt - last season was written off as first season syndrome.
Antony is showing signs of improving, I don`t believe there are many people left who feel the same about Sancho.
Problem is his ridiculous wages so can still see him here next season.
 
He hasn’t got it, has he? We’re in no position to be selling players like him given the lack of options we have as it is, so we need to try and make something work, but feck me, that was bad.

Scared of the badge.
 
I will say that under this Ten Hag system he very rarely gets to link up with a striker as well as have his left back constantly making overlaps which I think he needs to thrive. Having said that if Ten Hag's plan is to continue with this system then if a suitable bid comes in for Jadon we should sell him. We cannot have a player on his wages in that position incapable of beating a man as well as putting up such low G+A. Antony, Garnacho are far far more impactful whilst being younger. So end of the season I'd tell him that he will be battling Garnacho for a role as backup to Rashford and if he wants to leave then we will not stop him.
 
Says a lot about how much of a mess the club still is that this guy's one of the top paid players while they're still dicking around with getting Garnacho to sign.

Another "generational talent" that comes with a top 10 list of excuses as to why he's not performing.

I agree with this - if he could change his defensive play (i.e. find it) then he has more pace and drive than Sancho does and would offer more.
 
I've defended him for a while and while I still I think he is a talented player I think his lack of fight and mentality is a massive issue. He looks like a player that might thrive in a well functioning attack but when the going gets tough, which it has been for most of his time here, he's just not show up enough. Good moments here and there are nice but when they don't come often enough you have to show more desire and fight in games.

When you look at Sancho and Antony's stats in the PL, they're pretty similar in terms of goals and assists and we should expect more from both. That said if you were to run a compilation of duels, whether it's in the defensive third, middle of the pitch or in the final third it's night and day. He doesn't have to be like Antony or Gabriel Jesus but he bottles out of tackles, 50/50s, blocks, headers, pretty much any sort of physical encounter. It's not the be all and end all but if you're not producing incredible numbers you can get away with it but when you're not producing the good these are the little things that can at least set the right tone for yourself and the team.

I'd be inclined to make next season make or break for him but if anyone serious comes in the summer for him we should be listening at the very least. There is a player in there, but whether it's one that can perform at the highest level under the biggest spotlight, I have major doubts.

This one gets trotted out but I think you and others are forgetting how bad Elanga is. Sancho is performing terribly given his price tag and expectation but we'd be worse off with Elanga in the team.
 
The problem is his explosive speed. He just doesnt have enough to beat a man, and so has to slow everything down as a consequence. If he were surrounded by quicker players, he might be ok, but he’s ultimately a player who has to be carried
by others. Dont think it will work out for him here, but I don’t really see how we can get rid with the wages.

The complete opposite. I can certainly think of players who lost the dawg in the them but I can't think of any players that developed it in their career.
 
Sancho would need to be seriously careful under Ten Hag, he could well be in that queue for lads going out the door.

Hes got pace and great dribbling, but some bad decision making, and hes def one of the ones not up for the fight when the going gets tough. The many times ive been sitting at OT and seen him pull out of challenges, or not bother going up to challenge for headers.

I hope he ups his games this remainder of games as I think he has it in him to be a proper player when he gets going. Just needs that bit of guidance/ motivation.

From some reports though, apparently Ten Hag has seen enough of him

the lads got explosive pace, no denying that, its what he does with it is the problem. has the speed and power to fly past people if he wanted, but often chooses to stop dead and roll him foot over the ball. kill momentum

Perhaps it was the environment he was in, less pressure on him as a player and less pressure on the club relative to United. He turned up in important games for Dortmund and was an important player but I suppose the change in pressure as an individual, as a team and in a new league, has been difficult for him. As a team, I don't think Dortmund were great but as an attacking unit, they were always quite good and fluid while he was there, while things have been more shaky at United as a collective.
 
Next season He'll be behind Rashford and Garnacho on the left and Antony and Amad on the right.

I used to moan about Mata and his lack of pace but at least he had fight, composure, vision, goals and assists in him.

Next season he'll be hopefully packing off to help make way for an actual footballer.

Agreed, hyperbole abounds in the Cafe, but Sancho is twice the player Elanga is.
 
Disaster of a signing. Antony for all his flaws is much much better than this shitshow
 
He was the shining example for English players moving abroad to the wonderful Dortmund first then taking the next step but maybe it shows that it’s not the perfect way. There are question marks about that league and he still plays like a youth team player.

Work-rate off the ball, pace and drive, determination... I can't see how Elanga doesn't surpass Sancho at the moment.
