Ivan Perisic

Again, not seen him play or ever heard his name prior to this speculation.

Unless he's a really class player and will contribute immediately in a new league and country - I would feel the prices being mentioned in the press together with his age is concerning.

Not to mention Young is now, and will remain so if he stays on the squad, a proper fullback.
Not wanting to buy perisic because we have Ashley Young is 1 of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on the cafe

Young might not even be staying this year anyway, he's clearly a 2nd choice squad player now.

Since he's still Valencia's best substitute and a serious professional, unless he asks to leave because we bought an attacking fullback (Mendy, Semedo, etc.), I'm not seeing Mourinho getting rid of him yet.

He has more tricks than Valencia. You would see him do dummies. Valencia is a more accurate crosser I suppose.

Anyway, ladies and gents, tonight you can watch him play. (I watched Victor agains France, and decided I want him at United, maybe some of you can do it too)
Apparently he will play right wing, Mandžukić on the left, Kalinić up front. Behind them Badelj, Modrić, Kovačić...
so, Island-Croatia 20:45 (CET) if you want...to see him for the first time..
now, watch him play like crap..I won't come to this thread then, lolz

Valencia was an excellent crosser till 2013 or so. Not sure what is surprising there

1. He is not and unfortunately 2. he won't. He can be a good player for us(depending of many things), but I think it's obvious that he will never be anything special.

Maybe he's one of those players who can add more than his worth to make a better whole, a team player, I mean. We cannot depend on Martial's irregularity.

I really hope so, because I don't think his individual quality is that special.

His ambidexterity could be really fecking useful. Really hope we get him. Morata would have a field day.
No he wont. If you want Morata to have a field day you get players that can provide defence splitting passes like Marcelo, Modric, Kroos, Isco, James, Ozil etc Perisic is not one of such.

Perisic at least outscored Anderson in the last 2 seasons.
People who follow Serie A closely can correct me if i'm wrong, but i think Anderson is playing more as a wing back.
Felipe Anderson was one of the top wingers in europe in 2014/2015.
Then his father got jailed for murder after some car crash incident in Brasilia.
Apparently he was struggling to play well for a while after that.
I disagree with Ban that Perisic is better than Anderson, but i agree that Perisic worthy more in the moment.

cos you live in Brazil
Try to look for some of my posts. You'll see I'm not biased towards him, on the contrary just point out when people write something wrong.
One of my first posts on the subject was that I'm careful about this possible transfer, cause he's not all that, but on the other hand I have a feeling he could be really good, especially for Mourinho.

So try to read what I write and cut with the smart jokes.

You do realise you are leading poster in this thread and by good number of posts?

If you are not calling that being biased then you should admit of being Perisic's advocate or something. Just because ypu don't find him world class player doesn't mean you aren't biased, after all, you admitted you want him here just because he is Croatian.

Find a post where I said I want him cause he is Croatian?
I only said I'd be happy if he would come.

Also, you know that I have the most posts here?
Have any data on that?

But if you say I'm biased who am I to argue against that.... Or better yet, his 'advocate'.

Yeah, no point arguing that you are not biased, most number of posts here and posts admitting being biased:

On the other hand it would be brilliant if one Croatian player would finally join United.

No, I don't. I mean I would like to see him at United of course, him being Croatian, but I'm careful and I'm aware he's not all that.

I have read your posts and you seem to have a higher opinion of him than most, including defending the age of player that would be 29 next season. You have also admitted that you would love him to join United, which seemed to be more for being a croatian player than him being a great player. All in all, your posts on Perisic just dont seem objective to me.

I for one will take Anderson over him, if only for the fact that he can be more than he currently is, while Perisic is almost surely at his peak and can be expected to soon decline going forward.

All you've done all thread is 1) overrate Perisic because you think he is some superstar player that United needs, 2) Shut down any other poster that puts forward any authentic suggestions other than Perisic, because you think you know him more than most, based on nothing more than you are Croatian.

Sorry mate, you don't have to be Croatian to have watched Perisic a good number of times to have an informed opinion.

You don't even put proper arguments to augment your arguments for Perisic, or against the players that you don't think are suitable alternatives.

If that's your opinion great. I dont agree with you obviously.

Of course I'd love a Croatian player in United, he would be the first, but my posts weren't all about praising him. Not even close.
As for age it's just funny when a player is 28 and people write he'll be 29 soon. When in reality he'll be 29 in February. Not to mention that some are stuck in the 90s when players would be close to the end of their careers at 30.

Great you just proved my point.
You found a post where I wrote that I'm careful about this transfer. Thank you!

And please put the number of posts here, I'd like to see who is second.

Of course I'd love to see a Croatian player at United just like you'd be delighet to see a Bosnian playing for United. What's wrong with that?

Due to wages in this day and age, look at Rooney, it's incredibly risky to have a shot player on the books with 2 years left of a 8-10m pa contract, no?

Clearly that's possible at 30 onwards.

You think he'd be shot at 30 or I misunderstood?
Rooney is shot at 31 but he's been playing since he was 16 and hasn't really watched himself, living unhealthy and all. Today's standard is players playing until 35. Of course after certain age players tend to go downhill, but a player of 28 is not old. It's a new some kind of rule here, whoever has more than 25 is regarded old.

Its hard to say but I would suggest he's the sort of player that will. Mentally and physically robust and he won't be afraid of the physicality and fitness needed in the prem.

Is that so? 50m euro for that? Just piss off. I'm not supporting United for the coming 4 years if that is true. Absolute madness.
We get a good player and the forum loses Successful threads? Sounds like a bargain.

Perisic is signed to play on our left wing. Last season, we played Martial, Rashford (he is not a winger), Lingard and even Wayne fecking Rooney there. None of them are left footed, and they are all terrible at crossing the ball. Our left backs were not the best going forward too, so our left flank was absolutely impotent. It was easy to mark our left wingers as they all predictably cut inside instead of crossing the ball. Perisic is significantly better than them at crossing the ball from the left flank and is two-footed enough to cut inside if he sees the opportunity to. Our left wing will suddenly become less predictable with him and Shaw might finally be able to get his head out from his ass and starts performing too.

I fully agree that our left flank isn't good enough but that doesn't mean that we should sign a player who is mostly cited for his work rate and defensive solidarity to try to improve it.

We seriously need an attacking talisman who we can rely on offensively and who other teams fear. We don't need someone who can 'put a shift in' as we already have that in abundance.

That's not true. Many regulars viewers of Serie A including fans of clubs like Juve have said Perisic is more than just a winger who puts in a shift and is actually very good. Don't listen to buffoons here

Can you list 5 quality pacy wingers at 30yrs+?

I actually find it so funny that people are dismissing this guy. I'm amazed at how many people on this forum aren't scouts for the top teams.

For a serial winner like Mourinho, I for one would back his decisions on transfers

We should only be targeting players who will go straight into our starting eleven. Our squad is already bulging at the seams with ordinary average players.

I doubt even Mourinho thought Inter would ask anywhere near 50-60m for him when he made the list.

At 30-35m he's a good buy providing options on the wing. Double that - he's not.

For 50-60m he screams Liverpool type of transfer.

How much would you rate Douglas Costa or Lucas Moura should go for then?
