Don't get me wrong though; if we sign him I'll support him 100% like and I'd be incredibly glad if my worries were wrong and all that.
All good mate. I just want everyone to support him like you do, I fear tho everybody will be on his case from the day one.

Looking at Real Madrid and their squad, we have no business pursuing these kind of players.

One can just imagine that if Bale was not injured, Isco would have been on the bench.
Isco would probably be the first name on the team sheet of like 18 PL clubs
along with James and Morata.
There's a thing call squad depth. We can sign him and another player for the attack. Someone like Bale for example.
too much of budget on a squad player
We shouldn't be signing £45m squad players
indeed
Who are these supposed world class players sitting there ready to take?

Anybody clearly better than we already have play at big clubs. Unless we can snatch a Neymar or Bale then we need to look a tier down, or look to sign the next generation ahead of them.

That's why we should start with mbappe and go for dembele and the likes of those IMO.
I agree. Or even chance it on Morata and James for a start. at one point James was a big prospect in Europe and fits the bill, having played for Monaco. He is still a quality player.
What about say, Bale and Perišić.
I would be please. When Bale is injured, we would have enough cover in Perisic, Martial etc. Problem is I don't see Bale moving. He is winning too much at Real. Going to United is Spurs all over again.

Eden Hazard of 15/16 says hi
The entire rest of Eden Hazard's career says hi.

Hazard has a track record. The only track record Mahrez has is one for showing up late to training as both Mark Schwarzer and Islam Slimani have openly outted him for it and another track record for if defenders never show him onto his left foot he can't do anything.

Would be a lovely little delight if we get this guy. Keeping tabs.

Opportunity cost is a thing , even United is the most valuable club in the world we still don't have unlimited resource nor sugar daddy. Every extra £10m you pay for squad player means -£10m less in fund for the next Messi & Ronaldo.

Squad players mean that, you don't have to sign them at all cost. Especially when Inter pretty much isn't hiding that they want Perisic money for more more quality player(s) and balance financial at the same time.

If Mourinho sees Perisic is an important cog in his system then fine but I refuse to believe you can't sign similar or even better player with that money.

So he's now been linked (by BILD) with Bayern as a potential alternative to Alexis Sanchez for a paltry €25m

He has been linked with us, Chelsea, Bayern and City. The last two are not serious, Gazetta linked them to him. 25m is his market value i think, not his price/bid?

I think this would be wrapped up by now if it was a goer, especially with Inter's supposed need to sell someone.

Yeah there hasn't been much news since the reports of Inter demanding a higher price. I'm guessing we're looking elsewhere.

Bayern? I thought he was the worst player in the history of the world, why would they want him?

According to tomorrow's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport Spalletti wants to keep Perisic because the croatian would be fundamental in his formation (4-3-3)

He's more of a wide forward than out and out winger isn't he? We already have Martial, so I can see it being someone like Douglas Costa.

Hopefully. Costa is incosistent as feck, but he'll get people off their seat, proper United winger

Douglas Costa is exactly the type of winger we should be after. Bayern want to sell him and I hope we get him.

This has gone really quiet. Was it just some journalists fabricating it ? We should have heard more news each day but it goes quiet for days, then a new report comes, then goes quiet again. That doesn't seem like a transfer being done on the table with this rate.

I have a feeling our signings will be completely different from all these articles journalists keep writing and that they really knew nothing of what Jose and Ed agreed on, especially after Griezmann transfer got crashed.

Aye. Don't think the media have a clue who we are interested in tbh. They're just linking us with anyone and everyone.

Maybe a conspiracy by rival fans to cause a Caf meltdown? Boy they got what they wanted :wenger:

other than his first 2 months at bayern, his end product has been bang average

Since Mourinhio joined all transfer leaks have stopped. A few tidbits from players here or there, but mostly those wanting to renew their current contracts and use us as a bargaining tool.

Inter is in the middle of appointing Spalletti - this could be a factor too - Needs to talk to him about which players he'd like to see in and out.

Not true; it was well known that we were after Pogba, that we were negotiated with Dortmund for Mkitharyan and it wasn't a secret that Ibra would sign for us.

I hope we don't sign this Perisic, he reminds me of the Arshavin's transfer to Arsenal; he'll give us 1 (or 2 good season at best) then we'll need to replace him again. And why have no other big club noticed him before? This doesn't smell good. But if we do sign him, anything than 14M will be crazy!

Inter trying to create a market for him is my guess.

Gazzetta Dello Sport saying Inter are waiting for us to make an improved offer after rejecting our first bid of 30 million euros for Perisic.

I think we'll drop our interest (if we haven't already), especially if the rumors about Inter's ridiculous asking price are true.

It would be funny if it collapsed just to see our media, which claimed it's over and United has all but signed him, to eat their own words.

On the other hand I'd like to see him in United shirt.

Seems like we've moved on, which I'd be happy with. 30m, I'd accept begrudgingly but if we spunked 50m on Perisic I'd be gutted. It's all gone quiet though.

A slightly improved offer may lie on the table for the whole summer for all I care if it will mean getting in the end a decent hard working player without the big price tag circus surrounding his prospective time spent with us.

Simon Stone said there was contact between the 2 clubs but obviously both were far apart with their valuations. Now nothing will be decided until they've installed their new manager (Spaletti).

I think we might be realising that, after our last few summer transfer windows, we're going to find it very difficult to get a reasonable price for mid/good range players. This is probably the case for most clubs now, but given how much money everyone knows we have, and the major improvements our squad requires, we're going to feel the strain more than anyone.

This is also why there's so much pressure to spend money on unearthing the next big thing; rather than investing in things that are already here but not quite MOTD highlights reel worthy, yet nevertheless more than capable of getting fans to come up with a humorous yet endearing chant for them.
