Also Mahrez had 17 goals and 11 assist for Leicester in their title winning season. If Wenger goes for him, doubt they would pay anything close to our rumored 50m

Mahrez had 6 goals 4 assists this season... Why would they pay 50m for someone with those stats

So you have a thing for the old lady?:smirk:

I don't support any Serie A club in particular TBH. I just like to watch a properly run team playing proper football. Juventus fans are different though. They absolutely hate Inter fans for reasons that would make Liverpool fans like our brothers. They follow them closely, very closely

You can keep mentioning stats and it means jack shit in this situation. Mou is signing Perisic because he's a traditional winger who can give us width + he's very hardworking. His stats while not at par with inside forwards are quite significant too. Think of a Ji Sung Park who can create chances and score goals

You are tiresome. You have already made your points and you repeat it every day.

Using your logic, isn't he better than Mata and Mkhitaryan anyways as he has 19 goals + assists in league which is more than our wingers.

I dont remember Mourinho ever using his winger for width since he started playing 4-2-3-1 as his base formation and doubt he would start now

He is not cos those players have had 10+ goals and 10+ assist in a single league season, which is an height Perisic has never reached. Yet those two wont be costing anyone 50m euros.

Whether Mourinho wants him or not, Perisic is an average player and we should not be paying such a high price for him.

As to repeating my points, that is my prerogative. You are free to block my posts at your discretion.

€50m seems to be the new €30m.
I guess im not worried about the price

Unless were spending €100m i dont expect them to be an automatic first choice. They'll be competing for a spot and get rotated fairly regularly
I hope you're right.

Willian?

Icardi is still Inter's best player.

Perisic league stats (Season Club start(sub) goals assist)
2016/17 Inter 31(5) 11/8
2015/16 Inter 26(8) 7/6
2014/15 Wolfsburg 21(3) 5/4
2013/14 Wolfsburg 24(9) 10/4
2012/13 Dort/Wolfs 12(13) 4/1
2011/12 Dortmund 8(20) 7/3

Perisc has scored 10+ goals only twice and has never had 10+ assists in a league season. Of course he can still be a great player to a club like Inter or Southampton, but in the context of United, he is as average as they come.

To give some comparison, Fellaini had 11 goals and 5 assists in 31 league starts in his last season with Everton (in a much tougher and faster PL) and he was only 25 back then. Who knows, Fellaini could have been a devastating scorer for Inter at 28.:D

Andrea Iniesta. 47 Apps, 1 goal, 5 assists.

I'll still take Iniesta despite his stats. He has never been high on goals or assists but his overall contributions have been immense.

Haven't seen much of him and with half the people in this thread slating him I went off to watch some obligatory youtube high-lights vid and the first one I came across was this, sorry if it's already been posted :

-

That second bit of skill right at the start was fantastic, I had to watch it three times just to see how he did it. Looks a player anyway. He's got a rocket of a left foot, pacey as hell, direct, scores goals and can beat a man with tricks or pace.

You can't rely on goals and assist stats of one season alone to qualify a player. That would be a mistake. You've got to probe a bit deeper. Iniesta's contributions to Barca have been impressive but he didn't score a goal in the LA Liga this season. In all competitions, he offered only 5 assists but he created over 25 chances and opened up so much space for his more prolific team mates.

Perisic is exactly a type of player we need. Provides width, can cross a ball and score 10-15 goals. If we can get him for £30m it would be a good deal. Most of you don't want him simply because he wouldn't be a galactico signing but you must realise that we can't fill all positions with players costing £100m each...

I actually want this guy, somehow you just know he will work out for Jose.

I love how direct he is. Good decision making too.

we are signing Perisic to try and compete with sides like Real Madrid who can afford to have Gareth Bale on the bench and still batter someone in a CL final...............lord have mercy

same thing. He was left footed and played on the right, usually cutting towards the middle.
You're right about the wrong footed winger, but Perišić could also be asked to do it. Anyhow, with a 4-4-2 we could need a proper winger.

Of course Perisic can also be asked to do so. He is ambipedal enough to play well on either wing. I just dont subscribe to the notion that Mourinho wants him to provide width.

Well if you go in the Bale thread loads of people don't want us to sign him either. So who are we supposed to sign to close the gap? United fans don't seem to be happy with the prospect of signing anyone unless they play for Monaco.

There are some quality players like Fabinho, James, Morata, possibly Mandzukic, possibly Costa, Griezmann (if still in play), Isco (can test his resolve), Sandro, etc.

Looking at Real Madrid and their squad, we have no business pursuing these kind of players.

One can just imagine that if Bale was not injured, Isco would have been on the bench.

Isco would probably be the first name on the team sheet of like 18 PL clubs

There's a thing call squad depth. We can sign him and another player for the attack. Someone like Bale for example.

Who are these supposed world class players sitting there ready to take?

Anybody clearly better than we already have play at big clubs. Unless we can snatch a Neymar or Bale then we need to look a tier down, or look to sign the next generation ahead of them.

That's why we should start with mbappe and go for dembele and the likes of those IMO.
