Nah, Chelsea are only interested to make us buy him for even more money. Then they sit back and laugh that we purchased this god awful player that can't lace his boots, let alone kick a ball.

Am I doing it right?

Jose is a double agent, he's signing these shite ballers who are better off packing peanuts. He's going to spend all our money and get us relegated.

Who does he think he is, signing attacking players when they're just gonna play as fullbacks anyway, disgraceful

That's because its youtube compilation, they won't include his simple passes back to the player.
That above clip is only from this season, and there are many runs and crosses by him to suggest otherwise. I wish he could play on the right like robben.

It's a shame that the fee always ends up blinding people (rightfully may I add) to the quality of a player.

His goal and assists record from last year isn't that bad, and his general play is pretty exciting and effective - fast, powerful box to box wide man with an array of tricks and decent crossing ability but why do United never get these type of players on the cheap and then splash big on the big stars? Instead we blow our budget on support acts.

If you're spending £40m.. you want a guy whose going to be your star, your Aguero or Sanchez.. this guy at maximum will be a Willian, which is good don't get me wrong but this team needs more than just support players we need stars up front who can electrify what has been a very dour team to follow for a number of years. We need less workmanlike and more top quality pace, flair, elite level quality out wide.

looking at this video I am gonna think that Jose wants 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 next year as a main formation, with him as a left wing back, while Valencia will be on the opposite wing, but with more defensive duties.

This formation will suit both Griezmann and Rashford (or new #9), as well as Pogba.

Sounds very much like @Mihai and his love for Fellaini.
I was just taking the piss tbh. I don't know much about this fella, so like I said earlier in the thread, I'll have to trust Jose on this one. If he feels this is what we need, then let's see how it pans out?

Wouldn't be against that.

Depends. Unless you get a very, very good deal, I'd say players like Sanchez and Aguero would be going for a minimum of £60m now.

Naturally every side needs flair players who can create/pass etc, but I'm not surprised Mourinho wants a workmanlike player with plenty of pace; his teams often rely on workrate and tactical ability as opposed to flair and excitement. Tends to be his style - when he was at Inter he was able to turn a striker like Eto'o into someone who worked hard for the team as a whole, instead of solely being a goalscorer.

Maybe if this was 2011.

To play devil's advocate, his last two winger signings were Juan Cuadrado and Mo Salah.

If we could fast forward to the start of the season, I would. Get all this transfer stuff done and dusted.
I honestly believe Cuadrado wasn't a José signing. If you watch his comments on Cuadrado when Chelsea was linked you'll see what I mean. "He is a good fit for Columbia, a good fit for Fiorentina, but I don't think he is a good fit for Chelsea"

Salah has shown himself to be a good player anyway, just never got the game time at Chelsea.

Whether 442 or 4231 or 433, we need genuine width. On top of that, Perisic provides defensive workrate, consistency of international level and strong mentality.

He ticks all the boxes for Mourinho imo. Whatever the nature of these rumours, I think he would be a good signing. That is what the essence of @Peyroteo 's post was.

The bolded parts are simply not true, even the comments of those that like him confirm this.

For whatever reason, he didn't make it in the EPL while under the tenure of the manager who signed him. It still goes down as a failed signing. Whether it's because he's not good enough or he didn't adapt or he simply wasn't suited to the team/formation/league. That's all stuff the manager and scouting team have to judge before going for a player. It's not simply "is he good with a football". Compatibility is a big part of the assessment. They got that wrong, clearly.

I want this profile of player. But his age suggests there's not room for improvement in his game.
He would also give us options if we go to a 3 man defense.
I'm not against it and for 35m euros, I think it's worth it.
There are simply not many wingers out there.

I dont see a metldown, i see some level headed discussion and pretty productive and informative posts.

Yeah fair enough, personally I would categorise Salah in the De Bruyne heading of: Talented to make it but never got the game time under him. Which as you say is a Mourinho fault on squad utilization, but it's reassuring at least if nothing else that he didn't prove out to be talentless altogether, that would be far more damning on Mourinho.

Is he relly that good defensively though? Haven't noticed it from what I've seen of him. If he has an extreme work rate then this could potentially turn out not to be disastrous

That's what I'm saying. They have included only times he took on the defender rather than including every bit of his play.

So now that Chelsea's name has been thrown into the ring of this rumor, are we at the stage where we have to get him and if they beat us to this signing then we're embarrassing? Or not yet?

I can see us getting rinsed for this. I imagine that Mourinho said to Woodie that he wants these players and he doesn't care how much it costs. Given that Mou is away and disconnecting from football he won't be able to tell Woodie if a price is too high for a certain player or not, and Woddie will just want to get the player.
Yeah Jose and woodie can't communicate if needed. If only someone would invent a device that you could carry with you and would enable you to talk to each other from almost anyplace in the world.

Can't be as bad as what some people make him out to be if Chelsea are interested too ;) The asking price for Perisic is ridiculous though I can't see United or Chelsea paying that much for him.

That title change

He makes a lot more sense for Chelsea as he can play wingback on either flank and won't be one of their front 3.

We are only posters here and give pur opinion. Obviously getting targets that our manager wants would be recommending, missing out on him if he is our first choice winger would not be ideal. But that is Woodys problem

Cafe would have responed differently if at all we had signed Griezmann by now and Perisic to follow later,Woody spoiled most of us.When did we announce our first signing last year?
In fact we where the early ones to announce our signings.

Different things tho. It depends on the money.

Perisic might not be anyone's dream signing but it seems JM wants him. So if Chelsea beat us to the signing for the same money we were willing to offer (€35m) it doesn't reflect well on us. Means we're either less desirable or we feck up our negotiating.

However, if Chelsea sign him for the money Inter seem to want (€55m) then there would be a collective sigh of relief in here.

I swear yesterday he was complete garbage and worse than Lingard.
I wake up and see him wanted by Chelsea, now it's time to make him the next Messi and a great value buy.

Literally no one is saying that.

Yeah but we don't know who Jose's targets are. For all we know we may not even be interested in Perisic and this is all internet talk. For all we know this is Woody putting out the word that we have alternative targets to Bale. For all we know this is Jose's first choice. Point being we simply don't know. The season finished a couple days ago, we should at least remain somewhat calm until the plans for the summer become more evident.
