We do need more than the two strikers we have. Martial will be ok anyway its depth and rotation.
Martial has all the talents and skills to be world class player. But as a young player, he lacks consistency and confidence. Being squad rotation player will not help him grow. Just like when Thierry Henry was with Juventus, he only flourished when he found a manager in Wenger who trust young players. Martial played very well under LVG too.
It wouldn't be the worst idea to let Martial go on loan to Inter to develop his game. I think he will have limited playing time if he stay. Hope the Inter coach is good with young players.

Martial is completely different in terms of playing style. Martial will still get lots of game time. We only have 3 strikers. I'm sure the selfish player in him would rather be on the end of a Perisic cross than darting up and down the left all game. I think signing this guy would actually help Martials game.
if jose signs perisic to play 3-5-2 at then martial is going to benefit.

Isnt he two footed? If so, he can so exist with Martial. It would upset Anthony to be thrown around like a toy -- losing his number etc. He plays best when he thinks he is the main guy.

You do realize that you're talking about a journeyman winger is 28 and hasn't caught any big club's eye until now.
Inter aren't a big club?
They aren't competing for anything at the moment and they haven't been shopping at the same market as the other big clubs because of financial constraints. Yes, they are a big club historically but they have been poor recently and don't have the financial prowess that we have to sign top quality players.

OK so find us a winger, not an inside forward, or cutting in winger. Its clear Jose wants a different type of player than what we have. We already have a handful of inside forwards, if that's what we were targeting it would be a waste of money. The following are all inside forwards and are the only ones I have seen suggested as a replacement:
Dembele
Felipe Anderson
Mahrez
Unless what we are saying is feck what Jose wants for tactical reasons just buy a player who isnt Perisic
Yeah, that's not accurate, but just something Mourinho makes people believe.
But why do we need a winger when we have a 3 man midfield? Wouldn't it be ideal to invest in players who can cut in from the left and score bucket-loads of goals like Sanchez. I'm not saying Perisic is a bad signing but signing him won't transform us into title winners.

I think Mourinho wants a Winger who can supply Lukaku with plenty of crosses. Perisic is an out and out Winger who beats his man and whips the ball in time and time again. Martial is class, but apart from the odd one, can't put a decent cross in to save his life. Also Perisic is very hard working and a 'Mourinho type' of player.
Dembele, bale, griezmann all can do the job, all 3 are better than perisic will ever be. We might have to wait a season for griezmann, if mourinho is genuinely interested in a long term project he needs to wait a year, and make do with martial for this season.
Perhaps he's suggesting that Martial is or could be this player. I'd agree with that assessment.
That is why i think Valencia can be used as winger if we get this Auier lad from PSG.

Can perisic really put in great crosses though? does anyone have stats about how many of his crosses actually find its target, he is inconsistent from what i have watched of him and even the youtube videos of him don't show him putting in that many great crosses.
How many goals does Dembele score from the left? Bale isn't happening. I hope Griezmann will be joining us but doesn't he play more central?
The best attacking teams in the world all play with inside forwards; signing a limited workhorse because he'll get to the byline and hoof the ball into the box would be silly.

Dembele is a future star, bale will leave madrid the question is whether this season or next, the season mbappe signs bale will be the first one out of the door, griezmann is best centrally but i don't think we were ever signing him to play centrally, if he signs he will play the mata role on wings, wherein he starts wide but will most of the game in a more central position.
Jose wants him for the ability to play LWB, I want to see martial playing regularly so as long as it doesnt impinge on him, I wouldnt mind this move finally happening.

Im not going to pretend I have watched all his games but Ive seen a few and he has never played at LWB when I have seen him - and to be honest from what Ive seen Im not sure he would actually be very good there as he looks a lot better going forward than defending.

maybe just maybe he wants to sign perisic as a right footed player who can play on the wing and provide service to a centre forward in his typical 451 uninspiring formation. I think there is a lot of over thinking on this forum.
I personally would have also made a left winger a priority signing rather than putting up with this inverted winger crap. We need to create width to spread the game and tire the other team out especially at home. This would require a 4411 formation. This won't happen.

Perisic is left footed and plays on left wing. Also i really don't know why people think we need a guy who can cross well to get the best out of lukaku, lukaku is not fellaini or crouch, for a big man he is hopeless in the air, he is at his best when he has the ball come to him at his feet, we have pogba and mata/mkhitaryan to do that job and players on wing he can play one twos off.

We don't have any natural winger in our side all the players who plays on wings likes to drift inside and hardly crosses the ball. If perisic stays wider and beats his man then Lukaku or whoever plays in no.10 position will have more space to operate and him being 6'1" is an added advantage we would be so danger to mark on set pieces with all the height in our team.
All currently successful clubs employ inverted wingers with excellent results, the width is usually created by the FBs.

I'll be honest and say I dont know, however when I have seen him he's looked to be the type to work hard for the team and track back, he also has a good physical presence. I certainly think we would see him on the left of a 352 is we did sign him, whether you call that LWB or LM or something else.
