If this guy is unveiled tomorrow and Matic completes too will it forever more be known as 'Mediocre Monday'?

So this is set in stone even if we win the league with them both playing a vital role. Nice to see the usual balanced open minded posts are going strong.

Using a player correctly is a totally different subject and surely, he scores high in that regard doesn't he?

I get it, Jose is not always right when it comes to buying players. Nobody is. I was just trying to make the point that those who say they will relax because a particular targeted player is his choice, have a solid basis for their position considering his track record. This doesn't mean that anyone with a contrary opinion is automatically wrong. Not at all.
They do, just like the opposite side do too.
He's experienced as winger. For international football which is another test, he is more experienced than even Mata & Micki for the obvious reason the other couldn't make in to the tournament or get play time. For club European football, while he did have plenty of experience.

There are players who can enter a good level in their prime while doesn't enjoy long good level career. Milito comes to mind. Not exactly having any experience dealing with big pressure but it didn't hinder him one bit at his prime playing for Inter. Perisic seems to be in this category since for those who watch him play the last few years, he's transformed from the one in bundesliga, majority find familiar.
That experience will be pointless for United. Milito was much proven and much more consistently delivering when he joined Inter than Perisic is when about to join us, a great player he was for Genoa and his numbers were very good for Zaragoza too. Perisic is a bit meh in comparison.

What about if we call them Matinho and Perišićinho?
It wouldn't change a thing. The name doesn't make the player.

Why not. It sounds better. It's a known thing players who have -nho at the end of the surname play better.

haha, a light joke.
Before, when Brazil were actually a great team and were making people dream with their Joga Bonito. Most of them are average/ok players with a few of them being truly world class (Marcelo, Neymar, Alves and none of them ends with a "nho" either)

Then Matelo and Perismar.

I'll get my coat.

Right feck it, since we are not going to sign any other attacking player we might as well try this guy I suppose.

 Ironically those 3 you listed have da Silva in their full name.

Back to our previous conversation. Milito is a striker so it's easier to judge his numbers. He didn't make a big stage where other clubs see it as worthy gamble given his age and so called experience. Perisic is harder to judge but for those who have followed Serie A, it's easy to see he's been step up on completely different level and look ready to work in a big team.

I saw my mate the other day,
He said to me he saw the white Bebe,
So I asked, who is he?
He goes by the name of Ivan P,
Ivan P, Ivan P,
He goes by the name of Ivan P...

I think Mourinho likes ex-yugoslav players probably coz of there mentality and to some extent strength..he signed Modric, Begovic, Matic (hopefully again), loved Ivanovic and Ibrahimovic (i know your gonna say he's swedish but his balkan blood is evident lol) and now wants Perisic.

Yeah. Poles are also very strong mentaly-wise. I hope Jose get Lewandowski next summer ;)

The way he absolutely rips Rudiger for pace at the end.

If this signing does go through I am sure united fans on twitter will put the clip when he put Rudiger on ground twice during Inter v roma match:D

Underwhelming even going off a highlights reel

I wasn't hugely impressed but that looks like an all-touch (all plays he is directly involved with in a game) compilation not a highlights reel. I prefer them to show defensive contributions too but they're the best quick way to assess a player. Remember, Eric Djemba-Djemba looked good in a highlights reel.

HE'S 28!!!
Yes I know. Which is why he won't interfere with Martial or Rashford's development. By the time he is 30, we can judge if Martial or Rashford are good enough to be starters. Isn't that a good thing ?

What's he like as a wing back? I can't say I've seen enough of him to give my opinion on the transfer.

I do believe we need to go for a 3-5-2 formation moving forward. I just don't see the point in playing a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system, with out current batch of "wingers".

Mata and Mkhi would be struggling to fit into the system, but to be honest I don't feel that either of them are capable of offering us what we need. Given the position they have been playing in.

For the last few windows, we have gone for big names but end up having disappointing seasons.

This window we go for players like Lindelof, Matic and Perisic. Hopefully, this will balance the squad and allow us to start to challenge for the EPL and go far in CL.

Next year we will add the finishing touch to our team building by adding Griezman and hopefully players like Dembele and Sanchez (if he doesn't move this season).

Looks like he did well versus Chelsea. Seems genuinely unpredictable. I guess some people expect a Neymar style dribbler, and I'd agree he doesn't look that skillful in possession. I do think that his both footedness is a big attribute though, and I do think he stretched Chelsea pretty well getting in the channels and far forward
