What Jose wants is a hard working winger who can carry the ball well at speed and provide width, but also help out defensively well.

Well considering he's on 600k a week and been injured regularly the last 2 seasons, I would say it isn't a wise investment. The fact Madrid are even contemplating letting him go shows to me they think his best is over.

Hes worth more than Matic is for me personally. If we are really spending 50m pounds on matic ( highly doubt it, imo at most it would be 40, realistically 35ish), then 50 on him is worth it.
I think the problem is that the Glazers do not want to spend big money this Summer, unless it is for a Galactico class player who can be marketed in such a way that we can make the money back, using his name.
Players who have a "lesser" name, just aren't worth it for the Glazers to spend money on. Basically, despite being the richest club in the World, we don't want to spend....similar to the way Arsenal have behaved in the last few years.

Tbh when it comes to players who aren't world beaters or have that potential, then I'm with them. Matic and Perisic are £25m players at best. I'd rather we didn't sign either for the prices quoted. Bayern are selling Sanches. Mourinho raved about him last year. The price is less than either of these 2...

Summed up perfectly. I think too, we didn't hesitate in last few years to overpay for marketable players. Even though the players we are linked to not worthy of the prices asked by the selling clubs still doesn't make sense why are we not paying over the odd for the players our manager wants or Maybe this is the reason why we hired J.Ribalta and he might be having an influence (just guessing on this part)

Why are we suddenly obsessed with wingers providing width? That is what FBs are for now.
We're guessing that's what Mou wants to explain his interest in Perisic, and to be honest none of our players who play out wide are particularly good at setting up their fullbacks so things get congested often.
