I completely understand that attitude. Just because Jose thinks he's the right player doesn't mean he can't be the wrong one. That poster thinks he's the wrong one. It's hardly as if a club like United and a manager like Jose can't sign a good alternative some might actually prefer.
I do get the feeling perisic's lack of quality is overstated here. While he doesn't look a 45 million pound player from the clips I've seen he does look like he could hurt opposition defences and do well at United.
Really thought if we had a saga it would be for a more "Wow" name than perisic. This is just tiresome and he doesnt seem to be worth this much effort.
That's not actually the opinion being expressed though. People aren't saying they don't think he should be signed, they're saying they hope we can't sign him. They're saying they hope the manager doesn't get the players he wants, to play the system he wants to play. Well, what then?

Well then you get another player. Perisic surely isn't a one of a kind footballer. Otherwise he'd have been a lot more successful so far in his career. The system doesn't won't be on reliant on one Ivan Perisic whose role cannot be taken by anyone on the planet.
Wishing that our transfers fall through is nuts. Whether you like the player or not, whether you like the system or not. Wanting the manager's plans to be sabotaged is completely stupid just because people, themselves, would prefer to sign different players and play a different system.
If this one falls through I dread to think where we go from here, and how long it would take to sign an alternative. And how split opinion on that other player might be. This has gone on long enough as it is.

Some of us wouldn't mind Perisic, I don't see many excited about Matic at all.
While he's no Neymar or Sanchez he would certainly fill a place in the squad, who knows what he will be like once he plays for us.

Not really, Morata was in Perisic' current position and we swerved at the last minute to get Lukaku.
I'd honestly rather we went with Martial and kept £45m than go for Perisic, he just screams squad player. If we're going to invest in a left winger there must be someone better than Perisic.

What does how excited the Caf is got to do with anything? ADM caused such a stir and that turned to shite. The anti everything people make the most waves in here. A lot of us only really care about how players perform and don't get caught up in the childish crap about potential signings and making out they have a great insight into how a player will perform in the future.
As others have said, we have the example of going for Morata for nearly a month and then stopping that chase to clinch Lukaku. So we don't know what else we're working on as an alternative to Perisic.
