Basically, Rashford is going to be a starter, not Martial. Perišić's compatibility with Rashford is the problem, not with (or it's the same with) Martial. From what I've seen, Perišić does a job on the right, but you can really feel he's not so at ease there. Would be the underwhelming of the underwhelming, unless Mourinho does a Di María on him. Does Perišić have the resources to, though?

he shouldn't have said 'isn't that good in the air' then as there are more factors to how good someone is in the air than goals scored. I don't see anyone saying Van Dijk isn't good in the air because he doesn't score goals

Perisic is 28 and has played for a few big european clubs in his career and one of the stronger european nations. I think it's safe to assume that even more relaxed fans will have watched him from time to time nvm the devoted ones. The reported fee is just acting as a catalyst for alot of peoples scepticism, it provokes even me into harsher reactions. I think that if he was available for 30 million £ the reactions in this thread would be alot more understanding. At the same time I think he's become the symbol to many for a transfer window which has divided the caf overall, I reckon the Lukaku thread would've looked very similar if that saga hadn't been so much shorter. All of these things are of course unfair to Perisic as it's not in his control, he's a decent winger and we all know we need a player in his mould.

Valencia and Perisic isn't even close - I'd even prefer Mane & Salah. The thought of just playing Hazard alone is "scarier", I'm sure I'm not the only one saying United should really have a world class winger, on one side at least.

If this lad signs there are more than a few who are going to look silly. Perisic is a very good player.
Trouble is if he makes even 1 mistake in a match people will be jumping on him straight away to try and save face.

I've watched him since his dortmund days, I doubt he'd to take anyone by surprise if he came here. He does the basics well and that's pretty much it.

Really Jose , have you decided this already ? Why exactly do you feel Rashford will start ahead of Martial especially if Martial can recover his form of two years ago ? No guarantee either will start , both have a lot to prove .

As wingers I'd prefer mane and salah too - this is why I'm relatively sure that he would be played even occasionally at LWB.
