Israel - Palestine Discussion | Post Respectfully | Discuss more, tweet less

If there is, it wouldn't be particularly advantageous to Hamas since the Israelis are going in either way to get rid of them. I believe Hamas leaders thought they could use their hostages to free Palestinian prisoners and potentially negotiate a deal with the Israelis, the latter of which clearly won't work.
In Gaza, absolutely.

You've made your point. Let's wait and see.

I don't think they have ever covered it because it wasn't part of the war on terror during the 2000s, which is when their model of broadcasting extremism took off.
Let's not be cute, we both know why they haven't covered it.

It doesn't matter if they have or haven't. There are other websites who do carry settler activity, some of which were routinely posted earlier in this thread. Each website has a particular area of focus.

Hamas has fuel to still fire rockets but not to give to the hospitals. Strange one that

Their historical focus has been on broadcasting extremism. That's their general schtick. They're not a BBC like news organization, nor do viewers go there expecting that.
Do you follow many sources that cover the other side of the conflict?

Why do people think the deal that Arafat rejected was not a serious and good deal? It’s better than anything they could be offered now.

It did for Arafats reputation IMO, he had nothing to offer anyone after that. No point in trying to do business with someone who couldn't land that deal. It was a serious offer.

A video about the settlements in the West Bank (Cisjordanie) by a French network. It summarizes very well what’s going on there in the first 4:12 minutes.

Who better to point out colonization than the French?

The English, that's who

Talking of which, saw this the other day:

In the grand scheme of things one of the more innocuous stories.....but classic France nonetheless.

French football's "bad boy" Karim Benzema is threatening to go to court after Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin accused him of having links with the Muslim Brotherhood.

UN chief says ‘clear violations of international humanitarian law’ in Gaza
Antonio Guterres pleads for civilians to be protected in Israel-Hamas war, says the fighting increases risk of a wider regional conflagration.

“It is important to also recognise the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum. The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation,” Guterres said.

“But the grievances of the Palestinian people cannot justify the appalling attacks by Hamas. And those appalling attacks cannot justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people,” he said.

What a fantastic quote by the guy. This is how Israel reacted -

Pathetic.

Speaking of fuel, BBC posted something on their timeline about the UN claiming they will run out of fuel tomorrow and the IDF showing images of Hamas fuel tanks telling them to go and ask Hamas for some.

I'm sure they've probably asked, probably been told no for fairly obvious reasons, at least from the Hamas pov but at the same time, I'm a little confused to why the fuel tanks are still there given Israel is clearly aware of them?

The phone lines in the tunnels allowed the operatives to communicate with one another in secret and meant they could not be tracked by Israeli intelligence officials, the sources told CNN.

Telling them to move south was a good example of following the LOAC.

Those fuel tanks don’t belong to Hamas, they belong to the Egyptians and are at the Rafah crossing. Israel talking shit on social media again.

Thread about Israeli propaganda / hasbara and the amount of shite they pump out.

Israel, what a shameless governement they have over there. The whole world can now see through this narcisistic cnuts. A perfectly factual statement, known to evryone under the sun except Israel and its big daddy. He is not going to resign and I hope he doest even try to explain what he has clearly said.

Honestly pal, I don't think being banned from Arab countries is the best way to judge someone's credibility, especially when it comes to criticism of some elements of the Arab world.

Do you know the guy? Really I would not take his word or advice on anything. He is a known inflammatory figure that was behind sectarian propaganda that both moderate Muslims schools (sunni and shia) considered him provocative encouraging sectarian hatred and violence.

They're in Egypt? Or in Gaza but controlled by Egypt?

Israel threatening the Israeli hospital that received the freed captive as she spoke in positive terms is hilarious.

And what they choose to select and clip is very much agenda driven - exactly how PressTV selectively interview guests or skew news to fit their own world view. Its a terrible source.

The fact they're quoting Quraishi tells you all you need to know.

I cant believe people Quote Amir Al Quraishi, he is the Andrew Tate of the "scholars".

Gaza side of the border. You can punch 31.259871,34.253742 into Google Maps. Something to do with official distribution for the crossing. Irrelevant to Hamas who can get fuel through tunnels etc anyway (IDF would have just bombed them if relevant to rockets)

I don't mate. Genuinely have no idea. Without delving into it, based on what people have said so far such as being banned from Arab countries, referencing Iran of all places it wouldn't convince me that the point made in the post was a fair one, at least when it comes to those that did celebrate.

For me, when it comes to this topic, finding a genuinely unbiased source is almost impossible.

A source for what?

They baned him not because he is a progressive nice guy, the opposite, they banned because he us more radical.

A source for what?

A truly unbiased source of information about what's going on in Israel and Gaza right now.

Only when there seems to be a consensus amongst several sources, often with opposing positions can you take something as accurate.

Information on the ground is unlikely to be accurate from either side, and we won’t have evidence for a while yet of what is going on. Both sides are driving sensationalist narratives and employing cranks to do their bidding. Neither hamas/Gaza ministries or Israel Are reliable sources.

Sources I generally listen to (and a common theme here is they will discuss actions but not always verify or justify them. Eg they can discuss the laws of conflict, but not yet know if Israel breaks them): justsecurity, lawfare, bellingcat, Lieber institute, rational security podcast - very US centric but reliable and expert

We can get fairly accurate reports on troop movements especially on the US side. Jim Laporta and Lara Seligman on twitter

Analysis on the conflict, there’s a fair few but if you branch out from the ones I’ve mentioned you won’t go far wrong.

For ”breaking news” you can probably expect organisations like the bbc and cnn and nytimes to be ok now, they won’t get sucker punched by hamas again.

Ok so we can post Andrew Tate's views, ffs he is worse than Andrew tate.

If it added anything to the discussion I don't see why not. If it doesn't, then why would you?

I doubt he's got anything worthwhile to say about the conflict though tbh.

In terms of factual information, its best to avoid both sides and stick with mainstream media - both western and some of the larger regional outlets in the area.

UNICEF - 2360 children killed in gaza

The Middle East director for the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (Unicef) has delivered an update on the number of children who have been killed in the past 18 days of fighting.

In Gaza there have been 2,360 fatalities and a reported 5,364 injuries, said Adele Khodr, noting that around 400 Palestinian children there are either killed or injured every day.

“The situation in the Gaza Strip is a growing stain on our collective conscience. The rate of death and injuries of children simply staggering,” said Khodr.

The killing and maiming of children, abduction of children, attacks on hospitals and schools, and the denial of humanitarian access constitute grave violations of children's rights"
