Isco

If he does leave, and Pellagrini stays at City, you'd imagine thats where he'd end up.

Isco is a very different type of player to Di Maria, I think he'd fit more with how LvG likes things done.

Isco is not actually slow either if he goes past you not many defenders in this league are catching him as he'll split your defence wide open in the interim. David Silva probably wouldnt beat Kieran Gibbs or Seamus Coleman in a length of the pitch race but once he glides past them its too late for them to do much about it. With us Isco would have one of the fastest left backs in the country bombing past him at every opportunity and who knows maybe Pogba inside him ;). In some games Isco and Mata might be too one paced on the flanks so Di Maria can come on. Taking 2 of Real's best wide men from them in 2 summers will never be bad business IMO. We need to strengthen centrally I know but Isco cannot be ruled out just because he's not got Theo's pace!

Ouch.

Really torn on this one, don't think we should try to sign him if we don't at least give di maria a shot in that position, considering that's why we valued him at 60 million quid.

Could well be the big name to go from Madrid this year, they seem to get rid of a quality player every year.

City will be all over him like a rash, Madrid will no doubt bleed them dry though, 45-50 million?

Doubt we'll go near him, wrong timing.

Doubt it especially if we are getting Gundogan. A defender would be nice though? Varane + Carvajal?

Carvajal straight swap? De Gea can't be worth more then £25m with only a single year left. 3+ Year contract would see his value stand at £40-50m in my opinion.

I dont think he is going to leave next year. Like Cristiano, like PSV and Memphis, we could very well have a gentlemens agreement with him to sign a new contract and leave the year after so we get a good price for him. I think he will be willing to do that. Casillas will be a year older and he can go straight into the first team and Spanish national team.

I doubt Real have any intention of letting Varane go, money + Carvajal might be an option, but Isco can play on the left of the front 3 or in midfield while Gundogan can play #8 or #6, both would play plenty.

Well in the same way we dont have any intention letting De Gea go. That doesnt stop them now does it?

The difference is Varane just signed a new 5 year deal, De Gea's contract only has a year left come this summer.

Madrid wouldn't care even if they need to wait one year to get him on free. Sadly, while it would be great to get one of their players in return, they hold all the cards, not us.

Money and Carvajal? de Gea isn't worth more than Carvajal with only 1 year left on his contract.

He's getting ruled out because he's not electric enough for a winger in what I hope LVG is trying to create as a front 3. However I do accept the idea playing left or right side of a balanced 3 in midfield can work.

Barca's goal right now just pretty munched summed up what we would all like.

He's as quick as Suarez and he's doing just fine in a position we always suggest pace is vital.

Would be the perfect signing for us

---------------------Gundogan-----------------------------
Mata--------Herrera----------Isco----------Di Maria

The combination play between them

Wet dream stuff , but you forgot Depay ;) (I know, he'd get tons of games with Young, as the other 2 options out wide. Not sure where that would leave Januzaj, unless he's converted to a CAM. :nervous:

I really do hope that if we do sell DDG, we're able to get a player in exchange, and Isco would be my second choice, but realistically first choice (if you consider Bale will probably be much more difficult and expensive (too expensive!) to obtain!).

edit: and Isco seems much better fit for the "philosophy".

Mata as the False 9?

Gundogan
Di Maria - Herrera - Isco - Depay
Mata

What about Rooney? :(

Nah I'd rather have Rooney in there. Besides, having AdM, Young, Mata and Depay for 2-3 positions isn't bad at all, over the course of a season.

I'm a little worried about Januzaj, but hey, success isn't built on sympathy. Giving youngsters "too many" years to develop and prove themselves (Cleverley, Anderson to name a few) is what got our squad in such a mess in the first place.

There would be a massacre in Madrid if they sold Isco (fans favourite), more chance of signing Bale than Isco....

Where on earth will he play for Arsenal?

I'm fairly sure that before long, Arse will be playing 10 #10's. Maybe a GK if they're feeling a bit defensive.

You do have to admit that it would be a typical Wenger signing. Need a DM and help in defense but buy another completely unnecessary attacking player instead.

Well Cocquelin has been one of the best DMs this season and they did buy a new CB in Jan, just havent really used him yet

On the left IF Real are selling and its Arsenal he goes to. Neither will happen though, sure of that.
Doesn't Sanchez play on the left? And isn't Isco more of a #10?

Well Cocquelin has been one of the best DMs this season and they did buy a new CB in Jan, just havent really used him yet
But what happens if Cocquelin is just going through a purple patch like Ramsey did last year where he's playing out of his skin and he reverts back to his normal self next year? Or he gets injured.

Obviously them signing Isco doesn't mean they couldn't also sign a DM, but why spend £30m or more on the position where you already have too many players in? Seems nonsensical.

I think he will stay at Madrid. If Bales moves he will get more game time. The fans adore him there and is easily one their most productive players.
