Isco

Real Madrid are ready to sell Arsenal target Isco after manager Zinedine Zidane has said there are too many midfielders in the first team.

The club policy of the 2016 UEFA Champions League winners is that players must leave before any signings are made this summer.

Spanish newspaper AS are reporting because Paul Pogba will cost Manchester United £100 million and Manchester City paid £50 million for Leroy Sané, Isco is valued somewhere in between.

The reason the La Liga giants want to sell Isco is because Zidane is happy with 20-year-old Marco Asensio in the first-team. The former-Mallorca youngster was signed by Real Madrid in 2014 but has spent the past two seasons out on loan, at Mallorca and Espanyol respectively.

Zidane confirmed on Tuesday that Asensio will be part of the first team for the upcoming season but has put question marks over the future of Isco at the Bernabéu.

The former French star hinted that players may need to be sold this summer, quoted by AS as saying:

“They are all very good, but we will make decisions.”

Isco has been with Madrid for three seasons since joining from Málaga and has been an important part of the squad. He has particularly shown his talent in replacing Gareth Bale when the Welsh star has been sidelined.

This comes as potentially positive news for Arsenal who have been linked to the Spanish international this summer. The 24-year-old could solve Arsène Wenger’s problems down the right wing. The Gunners boss has already been strongly linked with Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez this summer. Both players offer a goal threat and creativity down that side.

However, Mahrez has been linked for £37 million whilst the Spanish newspaper is suggesting that Isco could cost any buyer around £75 million. Wenger has been very cautious with transfer fees in the past with his record signing being Mesut Özil for £42 million from Real Madrid three years ago.

Isco has scored 15 goals and assisted 22 in his 97 La Liga matches with Real Madrid.

Madrid will either need to find someone very careless with their transfer kitty or someone beyond stupid to spend £75 million on Isco.

For 40 million or so, he would be a top signing, such an elegant player who is very good at dribbling, creating chances and finishing them. For 70 million, they're having a laugh though.

Absolutely love Isco, but there is no way we are signing him, so I can only hope he won't move to one of our rivals.

Isco is a brilliant player, we should've been after him well before he went to Madrid (not that I think he'd pick us over Madrid)
For that money he isn't going anywhere though.

Really like Isco but not for 75 million. Besides given I see Pogba as an attack minded midfielder, wouldn't make sense for us either.

No real space for him in the squad anymore if we do sign Pogba.

He is a very hard worker and Jose might like that a lot, still 75m would be completely mental. I´d take a punt with 40m. Everything above would be crazy for a player who is not a starter.

Isco - Verratti
Krychowiak
Make it happen.

Madrid are desperately trying to mug someone off this summer. Nobody is biting.

Great little player. £70m+ though? You're having a laugh.

Is he really that much worse than Pobga? It's a massive fee but I think most people agree he could be one of the best attacking midfielders in the game.

He pretty much ruined his career when he signed for Madrid, to be honest.

Quite a few posts complaining about 70m. Are these the same posters who said "who cares re. Pogba fee it's not my money"?

Yeah I get what you're saying Brwned, but then again, I never voted "yes" to wanting Pogba at that price. Pogba would be worth half that fee IMO, maybe £60m considering potential, age and marketability etc. But free markets and all. Isco is a cracking little player. I just think people (like myself ) will need some time to adjust to this new "prices".

Isco is a great little player. I really wanted us to buy him before he went to Madrid. Even now I'd prefer to pay £60M for him than £100M for Pogba. But I suppose we'd have made inquiries earlier if Mourinho was interested.

And what exactly are we going to do with four #10s in the side? We need a Pogba type player more than any other type of midfielder right now - whether it's another proper #10 or even a deeper lying playmaker.

The circumstances are too different to just compare talent. We actively pursued Pogba and that alone bumps value before anything else is factored in. Isco being surplus to requirements at Real should see a lot lopped of his actual worth, and anyone who wants him can play the waiting game and then jump in with an offer at an opportune time for them rather than Real, which should see them accept the lower offer.

Real aren't very clever when it comes to offloading players, and it will probably bite them yet again with Isco.

I want to get rid of Fellaini and Carrick and bring in Verratti. I want to get rid of Jones and Rojo and bring in Bonucci/Varane. Let's talk about something that's actually going to happen. Shall we?

I can't allow you to dictate what I talk about. It's Cafe totalitarianism.

Live free or die!

The sales of Ozil, Higuain, di Maria and Jese would suggest that is not true anymore. They have been able to get pretty good prices for their rejects in the last couple of years.

They've not got optimum rates for any of them - they were quality players coming off exceptional seasons (Ozil and Di Maria especially) so they were always going to go for a solid fee, same goes for Isco where his talent and age is a lesser factor than his playing time and worth to Real.

They want £70m for him, they'll probably end up getting around £50m.

43m for Ozil a couple of years back or 60m for di Maria weren't optimum prices? How much do you think they should have got for them?

They'd be chuffed if they got 50m for an unwanted player who they bought for half that fees.

Good player, but doesnt fit as a signing for us....mind you neither did Mata and 75m is pretty much the same as 40m a couple or so years ago. Be a great signing for someone though and lets face it regarding the premiership transfer fees are virtually irrelevant at the moment with the money everyone has.

Isco - Pogba
Schneiderlin

Rooney - Herrera
Carrick

Signing him might mean the end of Perreira's time here though

He isn't really a pure #10. He's an Iniesta type who plays like an 8 with the attacking edge of a 10.

It's not like Perreira is nailed on for a place here. If he had been given a chance like Rashford has and if he has taken it then it's a hard decision but as of right now if we didn't have the conundrum of having so many #10s and we were in the market for one then it's a no brainer - Isco over Perreira.

Ozil should have gone for a lot more than he did. Di Maria was their best player that year and had a phenomenal CL campaign, you could argue that was a fair fee for him, but if PSG weren't hamstrung via FFP, we'd have seen him sold for his truer worth relative to the campaign he was coming off of.

£50m for him is a fair rate in this market, which makes it a poor rate for what they could get if they treated players they want rid of better. This is the summer to fleece buyers and they won't get to do that to anyone for Isco.

Don't get me wrong, It's Isco > Perreira for me too. Just a general comment as I noticed a lot of people here are anticipating a big year from AP. Personally, I want to see him given the chance, but I also believe Isco is one of those talents that you have to (at the very least) try to sign if he's available.

Regardless of what they say i think they will accept £50 million for him if he is open to leaving. No one will pay more than that.
