India's thunder down under - Tour 2014/15

So frustrating following India in test matches. Always fail to take initiative. Must be what Spurs fan feel like. :(

Missed today's play.. what was the problem? Shit bowling + Shit captaincy or just shit bowling?

Not seen a single ball today but this is just so predictable. Another 4-0 whitewash on the cards

I can't be bothered to analyze it. Forget Johnson-Smith partnership, the last two added more than 100 again.

Would Mitchell Johnson be considered an "all rounder" by anyone on here?

His batting has improved quite a lot over the past few years IMO.

Handy batsman with great potential, but an all rounder only when he plays India.

True

His test batting average "is only" 22. But he's had some handy innings over the past 2-3 years, even against us, South Africa.

It wil be interesting if anyone knows how to get his batting stats overall versus only those of the past 2/3 seasons.

Very easy. Cricinfo stat page is your answer. You can slice and dice data anyway you want. You can go to statsguru, search for player and go to basic or advanced filter to put criteria...

Here you go. For last 3 years. Not much different than overall.

Typical Indian away test series. It follows the same pattern every time.

India show fight and do well early in the tour, then they meekly surrender for the rest of it.

India

Maybe it's time to revise that objection to DRS.

Fecking hell. Just turned on the TV to check the score before going to bed. Saw Dhawan and Pujara talking between overs and thought India had dominated the morning session. And then they showed the scorecard.

Surely a country with a billion people and the richest cricket board in the world can produce a better fast bowler than someone who averages 37 in 60 tests.

Mind you, Sharma is bowling well right now.

Watson is a very poor no. 3 for test cricket IMO.

Forget fast bowlers. Have you seen the state of our spinners? Even that's not a strength anymore.

Woke up at 5:30.. in 30 mins we were five down.. slept..

Spent far too much time watching us taking a beating now.

Last 4 years has been just awful away.

India have put out a statement saying they haven't got good net wickets..

Jokers. Who encourages this juvenile shit?

Only just got up and switched on the tv in time to Marsh hit the winning runs:rolleyes:

Well, at least we're not getting battered.

I know it wouldn't have mattered much but which other captain would've gotten just one slip when the other team needs 4 runs and they're six wickets down.

Rubbish captain.

In a way, it was battering today. Australia last 4 just threw away wickets in attempt to end game early.

Dhoni's like the software engineer at an IT company here who turns up to do his job, not because he likes his job but because he just has to get up and come every day.

His test team plays devoid of any imagination, passion and do not give a crap.

Now he'll come out for his customary "processes are good" interview. The worst captain we've had. Kohli showed last match that with some fire, you can make a fist out of it, in spite of some questionable choices.

We've been subject to years of tactical dross just because of the political pull of 2 men.

Wankers.

Dhoni's record in England and Australia as a captain in last two years.

Played 13. Lost 12. Won 1

No other captain would've survived like that but no Mr. VP of Indian Cements would still get captaincy. On the other hand there are wankers like Gavaskar who keep on supporting him. Only Ganguly is one ex-player who have regularly criticised his tactics away from home.

Dhawan's performance today.. is there a case for swapping Rahane and Dhawan in the order?

We should drop Dhawan and play Rahul. Let Rahane do his thing in the middle order. Far from convinced Rahane would be a good choice as a opener.

Swap Dhawan/Rahane and play Rahul for Dhoni.. although I've never seen him keep..

Is India the most dislikeable team in cricket? I don't understand the need for a guy who averages 40 in test cricket to run his mouth, particularly against a guy who has smacked him to pieces with regularity.

feck Dhoni, Dhawan and Rohit.
Bring in Rahul, Saha and one of Jadeja/Karn Sharma.

Rohit is just awful..

His attitude is TERRIBLE.

Running his mouth all the time after having done feck all.. like a petulant child.

And his batting overseas is just bad. He shouldn't be near the test team again -- if we can find a replacement...

Him and Ishant are like embarrassments, the way they behave when representing the country.

Saha should be dropped for the entire series for that shocking shot in the first test. Still can't get over that embarrassment of a shot.

Karn is as average as you can get as a bowler and I've had my fill of Jadeja, thank you very much.
