India vs England

fecks sake - Yuvraj is gone just when India were taking back control. Stupid shot too.

India need to look at the batting line-up. Full of ODI and T20 players who do not have the patience or temperament to play test cricket.

Rahane needs to be given a go - might be better to drop Sehwag down the order where he started. Can't blame him for being run out though. Tiwary needs to be given a chance as well.

I have been shouting this since the beginning of this test series. Tendulkar has done well here but the middle order is too weak and inexperienced otherwise. Rahane is an excellent prospect like Pujara and has the temperament to play long innings. It would have been good to draft him against the English fast bowling at home before the Australian series. But feck that and let's concentrate on the pitches. Sigh.

Our openers are out of form, Sachin is finally showing his age, our bowling is ridiculously poor, combine all that with a defensive captain and it's a horrible combination.

I'm not kidding but England will never ever get a better chance to win in India.

This prediction looking great now.

India have recovered somewhat. 268/7. But doubt any further recovery tomorrow.

Yep, I think it's one of those days where you don't know whose day it is until tomorrow.

If England come in blow India over and put a good reply up then today was massively England's, if India put up some resistance and get some cheap wickets then today was theirs.

Could be in store for another fascinating test.

The pitch looked flat as feck TBH.

Fantastic day for England, and Jimmy was superb.

The pitch is flat. 400 would've been a par score. But that's what happens when you have a middle order full of players out of form

Seven wickets down on a good batting pitch after winning the toss? It has by far been England's day.

With Ashwin out, India won't stick around very long. Zaheer is not the kind of batsmen who applies himself. A shot trying to hit one of Monty or Swann out of the park should be around the corner.

I hope I am wrong but the next two days could be very long for India.

I managed to catch the first couple of hours and I was impressed with England's consistency. On a flat pitch they contained well and managed to frustrate and force mistakes.

The big cockup was Sehwags runnout. Had he stuck around on a flat pitch for a couple of hours he'd have taken the game away.

Ishant and Zaheer should prosper on this wicket if they can get on early morning with a new ball (dew factor). Reverse swing should also suit Zaheer.

If it was legal here, I would put my money on england winning this by an innings.

The last time we looked so hopeless against a foreign spinner on home wickets was way back when Saqlain toured with Pak. Warne never made an impact against us and Murali troubled us but was not devastating. Does not look good given Ajmal will be visiting us soon as well.. Pffft

Can't handle swinging wickets neither turning tracks. Going to be tough next few years in tests. Really need some steel in the batting line up. I've been really impressed by cook. Its not just that he has scored runs, he has always looked quite assured while batting.

England will feck this up.

Draw!

Pitch looks pretty flat so I would not count that. Worst wicket for India to lose yesterday was Sehwag's. This is his kind of wicket, him motoring to a 100 would have demoralized England and helped our middle order. Same thing Cook is doing now.

This is all going against the script. Is it me or do Indian team look void of any ideas and worse, disinterested?

What was Pujara doing in the slips instead of Sehwag?

Alastair Cook doesn't turn 28 until Christmas, he already has 23 centuries and 7000+ runs in Test cricket.

That is a crazy record.

Cook is in such great form batting it all seems so effortless.

Youngest player to reach 7000 beating Sachin though has played more innings than him.

Really impressive, getting runs against all nations, and in all conditions. I know this Indian bowling lineup isn't the best atm, but it's not exactly Bangladesh!

I honestly thought 18 months ago, his record wasn't truly indicative of his level, and that he would peter out a bit. I couldn't have been more wrong, if I tried

He's good, but he's being made to look better than he is because of the pitches and the bowling. The quality of the bowling around these days is genuinely third rate. I'd knock more than a few points off everyone's averages.

Akram, Waqar, Murali, Saqlain, Ambrose, Donald, McGrath, Warne just to name a few people who would be seriously considered in some of the greatest to have ever played post 90s and for the past 5 years, we've almost only had Dale Steyn.

Flat pitches and awful Indian bowling=loads of runs.

People were very confident about a whitewash, it was never going to be one. England have better batters, spinners and pace bowlers.

All the good work that Ganguly did, and Kirsten continued, has been thrown down the gutter by these guys. I am more disappointed and shocked than mad. I never imagined that these guys would be so spineless against an ordinary English team. I can never stomach us losing to the English at home. It's disgusting.

I guess these guys don't have the same desire, pride and determination to succeed because they are already rich due to the IPL. The "golden goose" is right on the path to killing cricket in India.

Well you haven't lost yet, this England side Cook and Pietersen apart are an incredibly average side that can falter with ease. Can easily see England being bowled out for 300 despite the flat pitch, our batsman also never seem to stick around after posting a big score the day before either.

I do agree the IPL has had a negative impact on the Indian test team, but largely because it has prevented young players like Pujara, Kohli and Ashwin from playing County Cricket. It would be the best way they can develop their game in a different setting and improve against different kind of bowling on less flat pitches.
