India vs England

Dhoni, Ishant, Kohli and Gambhir look like idiots now, don't they? "Prepare turners and we will take them on." -- well fecking done, boys.

So apparently we can't play when it swings, seams or spins. Time to give up on cricket, methinks.

I know if you go back to page 1 of this thread most of us -- crappy, me, KM and I don't remember if there was anyone else -- saying that we're shit and this is England's best chance to win a series in India, but this still hurts.

The worst part is that all of England will go from strength to strength with Broad going out for Finn next match, while Morgan will probably come in -- an improvement on their top 6.

For India, the one person who needs to be dropped -- Gambhir -- did well and we won't make any changes. We'll still start with the same uninspiring 11. Will Sachin jump? I don't think so.

The series is not beyond us, but like noted earlier, it's there for the taking.
I doubt we'll make either of those changes.

Bell will come back in for Bairstow (who I feel a little sorry for) and that will be it.

I don't even think England are guaranteed to win this test. If India can get a lead of 100 on the board then England are just as likely as you are to collapse.

Sachin's form is a major issue right now because our 5,6 and 7 are very unreliable ATM.

I think I wrote that wrongly. What I meant was "The one person who needs to be dropped and can be dropped."

Sachin needs to be dropped if he persists on continuing, but he won't be dropped.
Dhoni needs to be dropped because he just can't do anything. Although he's generally pretty effective at home, but I'm just a little pissed off at the moment.
Yuvraj needs to be dropped, because we've been here in the past. Can't teach a old dog new tricks, seemingly.. but they'll give him a slightly longer leash.

8 down... can't see Zaheer lasting long against spin

Awful umpiring this morning but quality bowling from England.

Why the feck did Ghambir block?

because some runs here would guarantee him a place for the next 18 months.

Gambhir's approach was a bit baffling this morning. Bit of a defeatist attitude, imo. Indian could have put some pressure on them with a three figure target but he was intent on defending away and was happy to give Ojha the strike.

This has been piss poor. Losing to this England team at home is shameful. Indian cricket is in the danger of falling in the darkest ebbs once again, like the period before Ganguly was made captain. Though even those teams were rock solid at home. I guess this the price you pay for poor planning. India never prepared for the departures of Dravid, Laxman and Tendulkar.

These boys better come to play before the next test. This is shocking.

People still interested in Cricket these days?

You can't avoid being sucked into it living in India. IPL has mostly put me off Indian cricket but test matches usually ropes me in. Though I am pissed with myself right now for being a sucker.

Also, watching an injured Kallis and DuPlessis on debut fighting it out on another channel gives you hope that all is not wrong.

Great to see England back in winning ways, hopefully winning with such ease in Asia will be a monkey off their backs

As I predicted more and more English posting here when England has won a test.

"You only post when you're winning, you only post when you're winning"

After a shit batting performance, Dhoni comes and blames the spinners.

India put on a good score in the first innings. To be fair, most of the batsmen were bowled out with good deliveries in the second. Had the Indian spinners bowled well in the first innings England would have been chasing around 250-275 in the second, even with the low score they put up.

Dhoni has a point.

Terrible umpiring this match, India are such retards for not allowing DRS. Overall a very good display and win by us, but I'm not going to be convinced until I see how we bat for the remainder of the series.

I just read that we lost. And struggled against spinners. How things have changed.

Well the pitch did suit Panesar to a tee. I don't think he could have asked for a better one for himself personally.

I wouldn't get too into the doom and gloom if I was an Indian fan. The talent is definitely there and the young players are performing whilst the team is in transition. The problems lie higher up IMO.

I'm past getting gloomy over Indian cricket, or cricket in general. I've gone from complete obsession to being a casual watcher who often doesn't know a match is on.

Australia and SA to draw the series.

England win 3-1 in India, BBCI in turmoil, and England get back to their rightful place as top of the Cricket pile.

Happy christmas :D

All credit to Monty, KP, Swann and Cook.

Indian fans are being over critical over a few bad sessions. This very team annihilated England in the first test. Post mortems should take place after the series.

Yep, i'm surprised by the quick change in mood on this thread.

It was only last week we were going to inevitably get trounced 4-0.

Plenty of Cricket to be played yet, setup to be a good series.

Before the series started, this is the level at which I expected England to play at*, and hence the prediction of England being capable of winning.

Then England turned up and played very, very badly. That's why you'd have seen a few posts laughing at your batsmen's ineptness.

At this level, England can take India.

*I expected England to play better. Broad and Anderson bowled beautifully in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, I expected them to perform at that level. Maybe I shouldn't have, because both have been in terrible form even at home.

I expect Finn to play instead of Broad and England to improve. Samit Patel, I think, has a little more in him. Morgan should come in. He is not particularly good against spinners in the IPL, but he has that x-factor and is more likely to get big runs in a one-off inning than the other players. Cook and Pietersen can't win 2 more tests on their own.

I agree with all of that bar the Anderson comment - i think he's bowled 'ok' on pitches none of the seamers have managed anything on.
Broad has been horrific and i've wanted him dropped for a year now.

Here is a post about Sachin Tendulkar from The Times of India website that I found and which saddened me.

Basically because of its outrageous disrespect to a global sporting legend, whom sporting excellence wise is 7 times what our Giggsy is.

And I thought Giggs was getting unfair crap from some of his 'fans'!!!!

I will not retire due the the following reasons :

1) I am only 39 and i dont think am old as i still believe i have 5-7 years of cricket left in me enough to play next 2 world cups.

2) my son is about 14 and if i retire how will he enter the Indian cricket team. It is also my dream to open with my son for India one day.

3) I have about 10 sponsorship deals with various companies who pay me approximately 70-80 crore rupees per year and according to their terms and conditions of the contract I have to be an active player to get that money and be their ambassador.

4) My becoming MP is just an illusion as my knowledge, persona for a politician is zero plus i donno anything how to make money through corruption kunki main hoon tou after all 10th pass.

5) currently i have approximately 34000 international runs and i dont care of India wins and loses, i just want to pile as more runs as till i die i dont want any living being to touch my records as i only play for myself now.

6) Rahul, dada etc have made a successful start for a new career as a commentator. My voice sucks so does my English so besides politics i don't have an option of an alternative career.

7) I want to make another record of becoming first player ever to play international cricket at the age of 50 and play 10 world cups :)

Well, it's obviously all bullshit. Sachin keeps playing because a) people who are among the greatest in their respective fields tend to also be very stubborn (see Fergie) and more importantly b) he's loves the game incredibly. I think he's one of those people for whom the game is their life. I think he simply loves just being out there playing the game.

Although, I have said before that I think the time is right to retire.

This is probably one of the nicer things written about him. Indian cricket fans don't know respect

Fickle cnuts, the lot of us.

I don't want him to retire yet. That lineup will look very very strange without him.

Missed the 2nd test entirely but caught up with some of the highlights.

Well that was surprising. England out-India-ed India. Cook and KP are genuine world class batsmen who can hack it in any condition.

Wouldn't get carried away though. England will probably be bundled out for 50 odd first up next time.

This pitch controversy is a freaking joke tbh. Dhoni is making a mockery of the whole thing. He looked like the second coming when things were going in his favor but has lost his marbles since we starting losing like chumps in test series abroad.

Concentrate on the cricket, you moron, and worry about the pitches later. I would show him the door but the sad part is that with Sehwag's and Gambhir's shitty form there is no one in the team to take the mantle.

I can totally understand him wanting pitches that favour / help India as all teams do try to get as much home advantage as they can get. The problem is that it needs to be done more diplomatically and quitely.

Him coming out and harping about wanting turning pitches is making him sound like a fool.

And then losing on the same pitches and blaming his bowlers after the team puts up a meager score makes him look like one!

Exactly. It should be the boards job to get the message across to the curators. Don't think Dhoni needs to chime in at every press conference.

This just sends the wrong message across. The English are sitting pretty, smiling that they got Indian exactly where they wanted - running scared.

Finn in for Broad and Bell for Bairstow please.

Could really do with winning this toss and racking up a big score.

Can the pressure of the press getting on top of India then.
