ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Rashid just has no back-up in the middle overs, there's no threat aside from him and that's been the case for years now.

It's flat and there's not much sign of any spin so you'd think 300 should be chased. But with a couple of early wickets and the pressure of being effectively a knockout game it suddenly becomes a tough target.

He should have kept Root on and maybe Livingstone when they were in tandem. Wood seems to be woeful in ODIs. There is definitely an all rounder lacking.

Sorry, referring to your comment about Afghanistan getting 250+ and having us worried.

Once again poor captaincy by Buttler, Root has 6 overs for 24. He could have easily bowled 10 economically. Him and Livingstone should have stayed on longer earlier.

Haha all good - yeah my only call was setting a target and then putting the pressure on with their spinners is the right game plan.

Looks like we're going to be seriously tested here.

Afghanistan have played this really well, but England have opened the door for a competitive score here.

Wouldn't have had to gamble on Wood's fitness either then, pointless taking the risk of making his injury worse.

Looking like they'll get closer to 320 now.

wood injured, archer going for runs. and butler does not use part timers properly.

England going out today. Poor bowling and more embarrassing tactics from the coach + captain

Been a cracking winter of sports as an England Cricket and Utd fan

One constant theme during Butlers captaincy is that when things go bad the team just falls apart

the good part is that you expect us to be shite and lose at everything, then you can only have your mood improved by the odd time we show up.

England's death bowling has been awful.

Injuries, part-timers having to bowl at the death being smashed, fielding starting to look a bit ragged. Has all the signs of a disastrous chase.

You can see there's a few faces out there thinking that as well.

Oh yes, classic England vibes here

Butler been unlucky with the injuries but he just has no ability to kind of calm his team down and bring the situation back. Just too much chaos happening

What injuries are there though? Not sure Stokes was going to even feature. Carse has only recently been injured/ They could have easily had Topley and Sam Curran in the squad. Mahmood is a better option than Wood. The team has no balance and his management of bowlers during the match is woeful.

So much slot bowling. England had the option of picking Mahmood who is better at the death but they picked Overton obviously

Afghanistan have done brilliantly, but the pitch looks very flat.. 330 is chaseable..

Yes, I got that impression, too.

113 runs in the last ten overs...fantastic batting by Ibrahim in particular.

I meant today where Wood got injured and then livingstone got injured as well. It's difficult in these conditions with part time bowlers
