Hulk on the move again?

Chelsea not messing about...I'm not as fussed with the Hulk signing as I was with Hazard going their way. Not sure why, but I've never been overly impressed with Hulk.

I know there has been a lot of talk on here from time to time about him...but despite his very impressive stats, I've never felt like he was a player we had to get.

They are amazing at buying south american players on the cheap and then selling them on for a huge profit. Kudos to their scouts/people who work on those transfers because they reap the benefits, i suppose it helps that they are a portugese club too though.

British laws don't help much either. Getting a work permit, unless you played a certain amount of matches for your national team, is a pain.

I remember how difficult it was, for example to bring Alex, even after having him on loan at PSV for three years.

Hulk, Hazard and Marin will have cost Chelsea just £2million more than Downing, Henderson and Carroll cost Liverpool

Combine that with a similar culture and language too and you're onto a winner I suppose. Porto is a good club on a European level too so it's a pretty easy decision for some of those players. They seem to always have high minimum fee clauses in their contracts too.

feck sake, who said chelsea had calmed down with their spending?

Hmm, it's a shitload of money.

Only seen him a handful of times but my overriding memory is him putting the ball on to his left foot, running in a diagonal line from the right touchline towards the goal and firing long shots past the post... continuously.

Still, if it works out, they have a shit hot front 4. On paper at least...

Great to see Abramovich is adopting City's tactic of adhering to the FFP regulations...

Personally, I've never seen anything to justify his price tag. He's a powerful player with a powerful shot that seems to often be off target.

It always looks good on paper.

I know it's a cliche but does anybody think a front four out of Torres, Hazard, Marin, Hulk and Mata are going to do well on a rainy day at Stoke. All very pretty but I'd be worried that half my outfield are a big bunch of tarts.

Never impressed me whenever I've seen him in Champions League, but Arruda who has obviously seen a shit load of him rates him very highly so could be a good signing. 38m is a big price though.

Do we think Hulk is going to replace Torres? He doesn't strike me as a very suitable partner for him.

I agree - powerful but I've watched him regularly in Europe over the last couple of years and I'm not sure he's all he's cracked up to be.

I just can't help but find it funny that Chelsea are doing all of their business before they've decided who will manage the team next season.

I know football has changed and all that, but it just seems bloody stupid to me. Hazard you could understand, but its not like anyone was banging down Porto's door to buy Hulk.

HIs real name is so stupid.
No wonder he was desperate to change it to Hulk.

Anyways,
Hulk, Hazard, Marin...Some names.

What do you mean?
Terry is going nowhere.

Isn't this a flop waiting to happen?

Even if he does reasonably well, he'll get pestered for that price tag. It's a ridicilous sum of money for a player of his quality.

He's a decent, slightly stupid player. I'm not entirely sure he's what Chelsea needs. And they've spunked £38 million on him before it's decided who'll manage them.

wow

70 million on 2 players - think that 38 million is really over pricing him

after the 75 on Luiz and Torres

thats a lot of money!

They've paid over the odds but I've always felt Hulk would be well suited to this league and he's exactly what Chelsea need. They've been crying out for some quality in wide areas for fecking years.

Quite funny how they've bought all these players without having a permanent manager in charge. Wonder how the new manager would feel about not being in charge of which players he wants in his team.

Fair play to them. Likely will prove good investments.

Once again, everyone saying they have paid over the odds - no they have not, it is 2012 football economics. Get with the times.

Somehow I doubt a manager would mind going to a team that has players like Hazard and Hulk in it.
