Hulk on the move again?

How wealthy must Porto be as a club? It's unbelievable how much money they get for their star names. Didn't they get £40m for Falcao only last summer?

228 million since January of last year, that's as much as we've spent since 2005.

They are amazing at buying south american players on the cheap and then selling them on for a huge profit. Kudos to their scouts/people who work on those transfers because they reap the benefits, i suppose it helps that they are a portugese club too though.

In regards to Chelsea though, we all knew that they were going to have to rebuild anyway and they have, them and City are going to be a real force to reckon with. We haven't even seen who City have up their sleeve to sign yet (Hazard but i haven't really heard any solid interest in any others).

Think he'll do well for Chelsea, his style really suits the Prem. He's a bit underrated on here for some reason, just look at his stats and he's averaging a goal or an assist a game for Porto.

The worst part of his game seems to be being too selfish, but he might cut that out now he's playing with better players in Mata, Hazard etc.

He should do well in Premier League but he isn't worth much more than £20m. Falcao is a better player and he cost less when he moved to Atletico. Mind you I still expect them to at least make an attempt to bring Falcao as well.

I'm a bit worried how good he may be. I reckon he'll do better than Hazard next season, his style suits the premier league to a tee.

Even those of us who you think "underrate" him I'm sure think he'll do alright for them. But for that money?? Whoa! They could do better imo.

The current leader is the Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o, who takes home €423,000 a week after tax at Anzhi Makhachkala.

HOLY CRAP BALLS

 How much did Chelsea get from the CL this season? I'm hearing everything from £100m to £120m.

£100m to £120m.

 ridiculous figures.

It's around €50 million usually, Barca received €51 million last year.

As Chelsea are English, they will have received a little more, around €55 million tops. So that's approx £44 million (GBP).

The Champions League prize money will be increased by 15% for the next 3 years.

Chelsea also received £1.8 million for winning the F.A. Cup.

So basically, their wins paid for Hulk and a year of his salary.

But you only receive about 5 million euros more in prize money for winning it compared to being runners-up and once you've taken bonuses paid out to players and staff into account then you're actually worse off overall in the year that you win the competition (compared to losing the final). It's the medium to long term boost in terms of brand value and growth in their global fan base that's significant.

Chelsea is an exceptional case in that they've also secured CL qualification on the back of winning it but that's obviously not going to provide any more income than a normal CL season would do. They had 30% of the English market TV pool (the total value of which is c. 85 million euros) in 2011/12 and will have the same next season. The split on half of that market pool next season (so 42.5m euros) is 30% to City, 30% to Chelsea, 25% to us and 15% to Arsenal. If Chelsea hadn't won then it would have been 40% to City, 30% to us, 20% to Arsenal and 10% to Spurs (assuming they'd have qualified for the group stages).

In terms of direct income, it will be anything between £25m and £45m depending on how well they do in next season's Champions League (I've taken off the c. £5m that would have been earned from the Europa League had they not won the CL).

Remember that they were already making big losses with regular Champions League income so it's not as if qualifying for next season's tournament has suddenly enabled them to go out on a massive spending spree whilst still retaining a realistic chance of meeting the FFP criteria! Roman has just stuck two fingers up to Uefa here (presumably safe in the knowledge that City and the Milan clubs aren't going to be able to comply with the regs either).

Somebody in work told me that Roman was quoted in media as saying that after winning the champions league, he's ''fallen in love with football again'' and that he intends to make Chelsea ''The most powerful force in world football, no matter the cost.''

I don't know if it's true, just what I was told. I sincerely hope it's not true, although it's looking like he's well on his way. :nervous:

The Premiership will be immense next year, can't wait already. Gonna be harder for United though!

One has to wonder if there is not some plan in place for the next manager and that is being shared with the players at this point.

Chelsea are in need of a big infusion of players though. A good number have left or look to be leaving. They were held together long enough to achieve their goal and now that it is done, they are looking to get on with the house cleaning.

Hulk gives them strength up front to replace Drogba. Drogba and Torres never seemed to really fit together, wonder how Hulk and Torres with mesh?

From Twitter (sorry)

Chelsea have agreed 38m fee with Porto for Hulk. Man City have reacted and are talking to Ironman and Thor. #mcfc #cfc

Hulk will be worth every penny :)

This bloke once played in the Japanese league. Amazing he might end up playing in one of the Europe's top clubs in the near future

Kagawa played in the second Japanese league just three years ago.

J League 2 is where the talent is, clearly we should just establish a feeder club in Japan.
