Television House MD

I've never heard a different theme tune and I've watched every episode including the latest.

There are 2 different theme tunes. The Massive Attack version is the US one. Most places overseas get a different one (a specifically composed one I think) due to licencing issues.

It concerns me that I a) know this and b) remember this.

Wasn't particularly impressed with that episode.

The brilliance of the show was in the way House behaves, and to allow him to form any sort of healthy relationship with Cuddy - regardless of how much the viewer may want it from a 'happy ending' point of view - is to basically suggest that he's 'fixed'. Which has the knock-on effect of dealing with the fact that the show premises itself on House being a genius because of the way he is, rather than in spite of it.

The other option is that they break up now and we have a couple more seasons of build up to House and Cuddy having their happy ever. Bleurgh.

Must have heard the other one then. Odd though, as I saw it on USA. Maybe I was just hearing things.

The show, unlike some others, never really hinged on House and Cuddy falling in love and being together. Doing it doesn't really make any sense unless they're going to end the show soon. House is either going to change and they're going to be happy or they'll split up and the normal dynamic at the hospital is going to change. I don't like the way it's going, in all honesty. I also agree that this episode was crap.

Then again, if there are TV writers anywhere who could make this work it'd be House's.

I really enjoyed the season premiere as it sets up the rest of the season to see whether the relationship works or not. I have a feeling this may be the last season though, as ratings have been dropping and I believe Hugh Laurie only had a contract to 2011? Still hope they can have Stephen Fry in as a guest one day!!

Well that's it, isn't it? The show has never relied on that up to now, but it seems to be working up to some sort of navel-gazing 'will-they/won't-they?' showdown. It's utter fluff, and if they are going down that route then it's not hard to see the season being filled with nonsensical storylines like the neuro-surgeon yesterday.

Completely agreed. I miss the good old days when someone came in with a baffling illness and House would eventually cure them after undertaking a journey which involved sarcasm and brilliance.

Which brings me onto my next point... they've sort of played down his abilities recently. I know that we, as an audience, won't find what he does amazing forever but they've really let it slip. We just expect House to save the day time and again, without the intricate thoughts we used to get. They took out some of the best bits imo.

I thought that repetitive storyline was getting a bit boring. I like the newer episodes which explore different situations out of the hospital and are based more upon the lives of the cast rather than the lives of the random patients.

They had to try something new. The old format was brilliant but is also so repetetive as to blunt the fun.

Cheers for the explanation about the theme. I always knew there were two, having watched episodes from different sources and noticing the difference, but never understood why. I know some old TV shows have rights problems with songs when they bring them out again on DVD, but I didn't think a new would one have it.

The only thing I would say about the opening credits is that they've actually updated them this time, and they don't end them with the old pictures of House and his original team.

As for the episode...

It wasn't brilliant, but it was always going to be a little awkward after the way the previous season ended. It will obviously look different later on - House will actually get out of the house, for one - so I won't be making too many judgements already on what they will be taking the show.

My God, the last episode was so poignant. I was tearing up. What a choice to make if you are a parent.
something to think about before the situation even comes about.

Agreed. Fantastic episode. I was in tears.

Terrific episode.

That moment with Wilson when Cuddy put her hand on House's crotch nearly killed me with laughter.

Agreed, House is truly back on form at doing what he does best.

And to think people were worried after last season's finale.

I'm more than happy to be proven wrong thus far but there's still a long way to go with this season. That said, House is still my favourite TV show by miles. It's like watching a 40 minute movie every week as opposed to just TV. If anything were to happen to the show I'd be really disappointed.

Wilson climbed out the window to avoid seeing Cuddy, yet she'd just passed his car sat outside her house so would have known he was there. Continuity.

ruined the episode for me

Wait, House is good? Because I hated the season premiere and thought the season would be shit!

Wow, may have to start catching up!

I'm the other way around. I enjoyed the first two episodes but much less so since. Same old same old. Basically I'm getting bored of it.

Been enjoying the season

I was scared shitless thinking House was going to commit suicide

Hooray for drugged up, pissed off House. The hooker in the bath was ""

Just watched the finale and this series has been very hit and miss. Some great episodes and some really boring episodes designed to move the plot along rather than anything else. The Finale was an example of this IMO.

So (in spoiler please) what do you think the finale means for next season, which has been confirmed BTW.

The last episode was called moving on and he ends up on a beach in the Caribbean and Cuddy is heard to thell the cop that she would like him arrested and that he is never going to step foot in the hospital again. So is this a red herring or is it something totally different from next season onwards? I'm not sure either way TBH.

Worst finale ever. Oh and Cuddy won't be back next season.

Thought it was a terrible finale too.
Here I thought House did something terribly bad but all he did was run his car into a empty room of Cuddy's house. Did these people not watch Everybody Loves Raymond? They hardly flipped out.

But seriously, I thought it was just poor in general. The case was poor, the story involving House, Wilson and Cuddy was poor and everything in general was very anti climatic. The only thing that has me still interested for next season is Taub's situation with two kids with two different women.

Cuddy not being back is disappointing and will probably signal the end of House in the near future but will be interesting to see what happens with the show next season though.

Yeah, I thought it was an awful finale too.

Capped by the horrible slapstick that was him crashing his car into her house. Followed closely by Taub getting his wife and mistress pregnant. It was like something you'd see in The OC, or something.

As for next season the fact Cuddy is apparently leaving opens the door for him to get off the charges and return to the hospital, prefaced by yet another overwrought speech from Cuddy about how she 'Can't do this anymore....I have a daughter to think about' right before she leaves.

The suspicion is that they asked her to take a pay cut due to falling ratings. The death knell for house? I wouldn't be shocked if season 8 was the last.

I'm working my way through season 7 at the moment, I can't stand watching an episode a week so wait until the season is reaching it end and watch them all together. I think I'm just over half way through.

I've found it to have definitely been weak in parts, and it's lost something from the earlier seasons. I can't make my mind up about whether or not I like Masters and the relationship between House and Cuddy, although it had its moments, was nowhere near as good as the way they played off each other before they got together. They've now just split so hopefully the 'back on drugs House' will be a bit better. If Cuddy is leaving then that will probably signal the end of the show, it's just a shame they didn't go out on a high rather than dragging it on that little bit too long and tarnishing a great show.

Horrible finale. I am not sure I will be watching anymore of this.

Driving a car through the living room stunt is way OTT. I am not sure how they are going to justify that. He could have killed people and even Cuddy's daughter. They blew it with that stunt IMO.

Loved the build-up, absolutely hated the climax.
