Television House MD

Considering how repetitive the main formula is, you'd think the show would've grown really old by now, but the fact that it hasn't deteriorated that much says a lot. And yes Taub's storyline is weak but watching the rest of the team make fun of him always cracks me up.

The thing about House is... it shamelessly follows that formula because it simply has the writing to keep it fresh and entertaining. We know how the story goes... the patient comes in, they debate it.. think they have solved it... shit hits the fan... then House has an epiphany. But the patients serve as a catalyst for getting the rest of the cast to interact in certain ways and discuss certain themes. Really the patient itself isn't very important... it's how they effect the rest of the cast.

Really love this show.

Wasn't something left unexplained in the last episode? The bruise on his arm and the stuff he couldn't remember?

Based on today's episode my guess is something happened between house and 13. Regardless of that I think 13 is going to play a major part in the next season. Besides the House Cuddy relationship. And while I'm happy that there's a new storyline that'll make this show even more interesting I dont think they did a good job in the build up to this finale.

I'm fairly certain that 13 wants time off because of her Huntingtons. That's why Taub brought up her treatments, etc. I don't want her to die. She's hot.

I thought it was her Huntingtons too, especially since House saw her hand shake when they went to the lesbian bar but I feel like something has been left unexplained that could some how tie in with 13. Also it would be jsut like House to screw up something he's wanted so bad.

Interesting thing about this episode: it was filmed on a still camera. A still camera that shoots amazing video, but a still camera nonetheless. The Canon 5DMKII. I find it interesting at least. For every other episode, they were looking at probably a $100k or more camera setup. I imagine the one they used was probably $15k for this episode.

I hate the summer, no football (well United, don't care about internationals), no House for months. :(

what an awesome episode.

This season has been my favourite to far. (well, ever since the finale of the last season)

Up there with my top 3 seasons from any tv show.

I think this season has been a bit of a let down.

Still great tv but it seems to have become the House and Wilson Show at times.

Still damn enjoyable stuff though.

They can all feck off..
(I am trying to write as SPOILER free as I can)

They can all feck off..there is something wrong when the producers come out with a statement like that the following day. Just tell the truth that you managed to feck up a series that was one of the greatest in just one season.

It saddens me that the same producers who have succeed in making a character and a show which are something dark and different from everything now are willingly walking the path of mainstream and basically taking the venom and the edge off both.

I was very attached to this show but after this season the quality has plummeted too much. In the past there was almost no relationship between the patient and the team(excluding Dr. Cameron) but now the whole crew is trying to make an impact into the patients life. The only thing that changes is the doctor who the most sees his/herself in the patient that week.. Absolutely infuriating and boring every time.

The producers finally took the easy way but even failed miserable in the way they did it. In no way did the characters act like something like the ending was coming in the episodes preceding the final.. It was like an essay from a bad student who just got his 200 words in and wants to end it as quickly as possible. It was so cheap and so ridiculous twist in so many ways that the last time I think I saw a plot line like that must have been in a bad sitcom or a daytime soap.

I will watch a couple of episodes from the upcoming seventh season but if it continues like the season 6 then it's over for me..

I really can't see where the last three posts (excluding mine) are coming from. I've liked this entire season, and loved the finale.
Explain to us what they were trying to achieve this season? In every season, in every show, there is a theme, this had none, like the last 2-3 seasons of Nip/Tuck.

They started with House's recovery, but then that whole thing went south. Suddenly, it all flared up in the last 5 minutes of the season, and then he kissed Cuddy, who had just been proposed to by Lucas, but she responded by breaking up with him, because she's loved House all this time. :nono:

Anyone consider?
The end scene with Cuddy could have been another hallucination. He had lost blood.

How did she come in to the house?

Might be, but to be fair, we all know that they will end up together sooner or later.

My only problem with it is that there have been loads of moments throughout the series where you'd think they'd come together and they have all been a lot more credible than this one. I mean, all he did was to show a little bit of insight and tell that trapped woman that she had to amputate.

I thought it was great. Not sure what everyone else expected from the show to be honest.

The plot of the episodes throughout the season have been different, and kept me intrigued as to what was going to happen next - the way they approached the generic storylines from a different angle was brilliant. They continued the darkness of House's persona, without going overboard, and acknowledged his humane side - the way he had been pursuing cuddy throughout the season was both funny and sad, because it made you feel sorry for him...slightly. Then when he seemed to give up chasing her, she came to him. He even began to show his humane side when treating patients in this season. I thought it was well written, and the way it has some people wondering whether it was a hallucination confirms this (to me anyway). I thought the entire season had its moments where it was funny, and quite emotional - it dealt with quite a few issues, and was probably the best season so far!

You lot are just too hard to please sometimes - its a TV show!

Plus I'd like to see you do better!

I really, really love the show. I don't think this season was that good, I'll even admit I was a tad underwhelmed, but I'm hoping it was a transition season.

My thoughts on the finale:
Compared to the finale of season four (which was the best episode of TV I've ever seen) and the finale of season five (which was amazing, considering how broken he looked when it came flooding back to him), this finale was a bit of a let-down. It was a bit more special than a normal episode, what with him being outside of the hospital, but it wasn't exactly epic. Plus it kinda ended with a recycled version of the last season's scenario. The scope for the whole "House vs Karma" thing was potentially brilliant, especially from the previous episode after he storms out... instead it kinda all worked out nicely.

Which reminded me, what does everyone think of the new attitude?
Personally, I don't like the thought of House being a happy, stable guy. As a character he's brilliant because he's a misanthropic maverick genius. Every time I see the writers infringing on that I get uneasy, it's the basis of the entire show. So many TV shows have been watered down for the mainstream and it's not worked...

I could talk about House for hours. It's actually pathetic.

Just watched the finale. Liked it.

I like how House is changing as a character. It's all very well to criticise those changes, but it annoys me when shows have their characters going through terrible situations for season after season but never actually changing. That House is - and credibly, too - is a testament to the quality of the writing, and Laurie's acting.

I wouldn't expect House ever to become a 'happy, stable guy'. If that ever happens the show ends, because without House and his manipulate and destructive personality there's really no edge to the show and it would become just another medical drama.

I did not like this season bar few episodes.

Finale was good up until the end which would have fitted in some rubbish Hollywood movie but not House.

Main problem was they went with how House had changed this season. When he really had not. He still did the same stuff as before but without drugs. Case in point being, he still tried to break up Wilson and his ex.

No he didn't? He kept them together!

This wasn't a great season even if there were done great episodes. The finale was better than most though. My missus has stopped watching because she finds it so repetitive and she probably has a point. I'm not sure how but they need to lift the next season if it isn't to be the last.

I've not watched new episodes of House in a year or two. Did they change the theme music? Was watching a rerun from this season and it wasn't Teardrop by Massive Attack. What's it been changed to?

Lots of Cuddy nakedness at least. I paused the frames but alas no boobage :(
