I don't think the likes of Downing, Barton or Henderson would be bad signings for Liverpool. They would improve on what they've got - less so in the middle of the park. However, I'm not sure at all sure they would take them into the top 4, and even if they do, they are not the players who will take them into that even higher level they aspire to afterwards.

Spot on man! Ourselves need seasoned pro's now, nothin wrong with building of course, but we're that high level & we need cut-throat players like Sneider. We've got quality comin through, but today is the day now. Big gamers with good mental attributes to play for us!

Apparently rumours now that Fergie will try to swap Brown and Gibson for Henderson.

Undoubtedly Journo's putting two and two together and getting 5, but Sunderland are looking for quite a few players...

Brown should move on tho, he's gonna have very little play-time next season again. Sorry to see him go, but his form when he played last season was nail-biting stuff, he's not as good as Evans & Smalling, and by a long way aswell.

Great servant & fan of the club. I'd say Fergie will let him decide in the end, thats the way Fergie honours our ol'skool

Think the Sunderland interest in Brown & Gibson is legitimate, and Bruce is expecting serious interest in Cattermole and Henderson, but Sunderland are being reported as wanting close to £20m for Henderson, so it'd have to be Brown+Gibson+cash... Reports up here (North East) today though is that Liverpool have submitted a formal offer for Cattermole of around £10m... If they sell him I'd expect them to fight even harder to keep Henderson

value signings here we are.

I'd rather want Gibbo to stay if he will have nothing against being 2nd choice player.

Henderson is a riddle to me... just like Rodwell.

Don't see any fecking value in Henderson for £15-20m. Personally I'd rather we just keep Gibson then spend big money on Rodwell or Henderson - both are still massively unproven and haven't shown remotely enough for the hype they've received

Watch your grammar :nono:

Then with an "e" implies the next step after keeping Gibson is spending big on Rodwell or Henderson. However the rest shows that you meant "than" with an "a" which implies you want one over the other...

Had me second guessing there...

If they really want Gibson (valued around 6m) and Wes (valued around 5m) then we can put them in the deal and add 5m to it.

Henderson son son
He's much worse then Anderson
Henderson son son
But He's better then Gibson
On the left to the right
the samba beat tonite
he is class with a brass
And we'll get raped by Iniesta

Who's to say I didn't want us to keep Gibson and then go and buy Henderson or Rodwell?

But yes, you're obviously correct, in my defence I cite the partaking of rum and sunshine - a lovely but dangerous combination.

According to reports Manchester United are considering a move for Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson with players going the other way.

It is understood that Sunderland are chasing United pair Darron Gibson and Wes Brown raising the possibility of a swap deal.

The Sun claims Sunderland chief Steve Bruce is hopeful of his old United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to sell the pair and may offer Henderson as part of the package.

Ferguson believed to be a big admirer of the highly-rated England Under-21 midfielder, and may be tempted to offload Brown and Gibson.

However, Sir Alex faces competition from bitter rivals Liverpool who are also understood to be chasing the 20-year-old who is rated at £15 million.

I was talking about the two players in question - Brown and Gibson. Henderson is not worth that much.

Sunderland are saying £20m, even if we bring them down, it looks likely Henderson would be at least £15m. There's no way Brown and Gibson are worth that much combined, we'd be lucky to get £10m for those two together.

I would say realistically Brown is worth £3 million - Gibson worth £5 million

Sunderland value Henderson at £18 million - but in case of a swap deal I would say a realistic sum is £5 million + Gibson and Brown

I'd say your Gibbo valuation is quite low.

If we sell him i'd expect he'd go for £8-10mil.

The thought that we would give away Gibson and then splash more cash on Henderson or Rodwell fills me with a cold feeling inside. Two of the most overhyped, underwhelming young players around.

Rather keep what we've got and let Gibson be a squad player until our own midfield prospects are ready for the first team. The likes of Pogba and Tunnicliffe will be head & shoulders better than Rodwell & Henderson in a few years.

Think you're over-valuing him by a fair bit there, I'd say £5-7m would be a very good price.

Personally, I agree - I'd be happy to sign Henderson or Rodwell for around £5-10m, but I just don't see enough in them to want to spend £20m on either

You are all idiots. If United are interested in spunking reasonably big money on the lad, then I'm content that he's going to be good enough.

I would probably take a straight swap of Wes and Gibson in exchange of Henderson. Thoroughly hate to see Wes go though

We don't need this lad. Even if we could get £10m from selling Wes and Gibson, then that could help in the transfer market to buy someone who is actually really good.

Hell no!!! He's just legs in midfield. Everything else he does is average. But you never know with young players lets see who he compares to Rodwell in the under 21's tournment.
