Suits back 3 system completely.

De ligt is better at RCB than CCB & i have noticed he looks nervous sometimes playing as the last defender.

Maguire is just a physical dominant CB that can just focus on shutting of the central channel.

Very good again, this 3 ATB formation is more suited for him than our other CBs.

Yeah a very good performance. That centre spot suits him.

What's very reassuring is that we suddenly have options for who can play in that back three. Maguire, De Ligt, Martinez, Yoro, Mazraoui, and Lindelof can all play there if need be. At least one of those is going to pick up an injury, so it's good that we actually have some cover there and can rotate to minimise injury risk.

It’s a well balanced back 3 in general tbf. Really solid game.

Top performance from him today. I loved seeing him get involved in the 2 Hojlund incidents by pushing City players away. Strange how we never saw that from him when he was captain. I guess he's just feeling less pressure now.

On his day he can absolutely bully top strikers. Was superb today. Gets a lot of flak but credits where its due

Another solid game. Strengthens the theory that a back 3 might actually be really good for him.

Should not be sold like so many want.

He's a very good player. Incredibly underrated. Not only that, he doesn't make a fuss about being dropped/rotated, and has proved he has an elite mentality to come back from all the disgusting hate he was getting.

Played well, but he will leave at the end of the season and that means Yoro needs bedded in. Cant have this guy continue to collect 200k a week.

Did well today, I think he is going to have to take a decent wage cut to stay on beyond this season but that’s is going to be the case if he leaves.

3-4-3 is made for Maguire and I thought we look far more solid under Amorim when he’s in the team

Given that Amorim plays 3 at the back think he'll keep Maguire. Reliable player and showed it again today. Also Evans probably retiring (?) and Lindelof leaving, not that we'll be able to spend on CBs with other positions being priorities.

Brilliant today from Maguire. Strong against one of the best strikers in the world. Aggressive, no nonsense on the ball. Good in the air. Really impressive.

Amorim positions him that it really highlights his strengths. None of this stupid Ten Hag shit.

If we start pressing as a unit, he can be a key player, he knows how to step in and win the ball from any kind of striker. Can win headers and has a bit of calmness on the ball too when confident enough. Don't think he will have a problem with high line.

I tend to agree. The focus of the next few windows should be on the attacking players, then the wing backs, then maybe looking at central options. We haven't got the time or money to be dicking around looking at centre backs when we have far greater issues at the other end of the pitch.

He looks well suited to 3 at the back. We need a left footed alternative for Martinez, so letting him go for free might not be good just yet.

He doesn’t get nearly enough appreciation from our fans. Just a year or so ago, many had completely written him off. The way he’s turned things around has been nothing short of remarkable, especially considering the amount of criticism and abuse he endured.

Today, he was nothing short of phenomenal—handled Haaland brilliantly and was an absolute colossus at the back. Huge credit to Mags!

Exactly this, time and time again he gets written off and time and time again he comes back. Ultimate professional and hope he can stay fit.

Matched Haaland physically today. I was worried before the game but he did really well.

Haaland was the perfect player for Maguire to be up . He's all physical. He isn't nimble or technically great on the ball. Maguire just pocketed him.

He does.

He looked good in a back 3 for England so I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise.
