Deserves a start against Villa.
Deserves a start against Villa.
He should be starting ahead of Martinez.Deserves a well done for scoring a goal.
Doesn't mean he should start the next game.
De Ligt has had a couple of bad games and all of a sudden Maguire should be starting.
That period of time contains at least Brown, Silvestre, Evans, Smalling, Varane, Martinez.Quite comfortably our 3rd best CB of the last 15-20 years behind Rio and Vidic.
Ten Hag not making use of him and benching him for someone like Varane is one of the biggest mistakes he's made at United, and there's plenty of them. Obviously, though, the football expert United fans championed him for it, and then we went on to play the 5th deepest line in the whole league with him and Martínez throughout the next 2 seasons. Oh, and he also played Martínez ahead of him, another comical decision.
The only argument for buying de Ligt as well at this point is that he's 6 years younger and he was a good value buy in the market that we didn't want to miss out on. If you compare them as footballers, there's really not much of a difference between them.
In return, though, with the decision being not to buy Branthwaite as a result, our only centre half who's good at dealing with pacey attackers and eating up large spaces quickly is an 18 year old kid who we shouldn't be heavily dependent on in his very first season.
Still think when he plays, he’s our best cb (on form I mean, not on paper). Seems to be the only one with any level of consistency. I know he’s rubbish really but the way the others are playing at the moment, they’re no better.

I don't see how anyone has Maguire as comfortably better than any of those.
Proper cringeHats off to this lad right here. If there is ever to be made a shounen anime about a football player, then Harry needs to be the main protagonist.
Get's signed for a world record fee for a CB. Is made captain instantly. After a good first season, his form dips and he becomes an international laughing stock. His name is literally mocked in the parliaments of some countries. Get's dropped to the bench and stripped of his captaincy by new manager.
Despite all of this, refuses to give up. Puts his head down and works his ass off. Despite being marginalized by the manager, he still refuses to down tools and gives his all to keep him in his job.
What a lad our Harry is. Take a bow
Another very exclusive take. Desperate times I guess.Quite comfortably our 3rd best CB of the last 15-20 years behind Rio and Vidic.

Scored a free header.. any competent player would do the same. A barnacle of the reckless spending and mismanagement at Manchester United. Changes nothing. Granted the other defenders have been poor but If he starts at Villa, he will be run ragged by Duran and Watkins. Last season for him before heading off to Everton, where he truly belongs.Has shown his worth time and time again, even when the narrative from opposing fans and fans of United has been to paint him as some clown.
Very glad he stayed and hope he starts ahead of De Ligt/Martinez who have both shown fallibilities.

Think it was actually a 2v1, extremely lucky it wasn't 4-2.The revisionism is ridiculous.
People have already forgotten his woeful piece of defending that gifted them a 1v1.
And his atrocious attempt to win the ball before the goal in the last game.
Scores his goal and fair play to him, he's had many worse games than what De Ligt and Martinez had last night. No way should he still be in contention as a starter.
our most expensive CB in our history bare in mind, as far as im concerned our worst signing.
Bought to be our Van Dijk pretty much.. transfer fee was an absolute joke and the lad is a pudding, one of the worst defenders ive ever seen at the club.
Slow, Clumsy, for a lad of his stature hes not as dominant in the air as expected, poor with the ball at his feet just genuinely no real great attribute what so ever.

And this is why we are struggling for top 4 every year.
Well, rubbish comparatively to the quality needed to be competing for the league again. If he had pace then that would solve pretty much all of his issues. But lack of pace is basically everyone in the team excluding wingers and hojlund. He's not rubbish though is he
Like Fellaini, he's strong mentally. Neither were/are United quality if we're being honest.Gets knocked regularly, but one of the few players at the club with the right mentality.
Boy... it feels like we are running in circles forever. Apparently Maguire is a different player even though we went through 3 celebration periods when we got different CBs in Varane first, Martinez second and De Ligt in third. Those Ole years will haunt us forever I feel.Interestingly enough, we got top 4 in both of the seasons where Maguire was the first name on the team sheet.
He's defo good enough for a top 4-6 club, nothing more than that. But considering where we are as a club right now, even that's probably too good for us.Interestingly enough, we got top 4 in both of the seasons where Maguire was the first name on the team sheet.
Was it his fault or Mazza's? I guess Mazza was slow a couple of times with the offside trap.Slab Head to the rescue, great header.
Him trying to play an offside trap at one point when Mazraoui was oblivious was awful mind.
