Is it just me who thinks he should stay in his position, let Varane get the first tackle in, read the game and situation and defend it? Instead of clumsily diving in and leaving a massive gap and being out of position.
Even if he can't read the situation, how about he take the man down with the ball. He's quite often let opposition past in situation that looks like a glitch in video game.

Maguire tackle is like Messi impossible dribbling.

If Rangnick doesn't start Lindelof ahead of this guy at the weekend then Rangnick can go.

That passage was so simple to defend too. All he had to do was close him down but not commit and let McTominay challenge for the ball.

Instead he overcommits and spreads his ass like a two-Bob rent boy

The fact the majority of our fan base dislike him and think he’s utter wank is so sad you just have to laugh. This guy is our captain. Lump. His little sad face and hop and skip when we concede gets right on my tits.

Made a mistake. We got punished. The attackers made far more mistakes today: and vs boro etc
He made plenty of mistakes, but was only punished once.

This is the thing about our team. Everyone gives them excuses and excuses. He's not good enough, end of story.

At the end of the day Maguire is the most expensive CB in world football but has the expectations of Tuanzebe. How many times is he going to get cut in half before people get tired of him ?

80 Million you know. We spent 80 million of the Queens finest and yet has the expectations as if he's an academy product just breaking through into the first team.

Even the way he talks and acts, we spent 80 Million on this guy, it's actually fecking incredible. He acts as if he's paid us back and we owe him now.

I hate the circus around this guy: he's not "the worst defender in the league" and he has had some good games for United and England but geez, 80 million and the captaincy and no resale value. None of that is his fault he just shouldn't have been bought. This club's planning and decision making sucks!

Well, yes. Maguire is blamed for the draw because he was to blame for their equaliser, if he didn't act like a headless numpty then maybe, maybe Rodriguez wouldn't have had the shot on goal.

If you blame him for that goal you should do some basic football course. Take a look at the goal a couple of times and come back

Everyone involved in paying £80m for him should be ashamed, it was idiotic at the time and looks even worse now. Said when we signed him he was no better than Evans for Leicester and on similar level to players we already had he just stayed for more often.

Hopefully that’s him dropped for a while now.

Tackling his own man is his signature move. Johnny Evans regen.

We can blame VAR but Maguire is stupid to stand in an offside position and block off the opponent. Don't get me started on their goal, Sunday league defending. This guy needs to be removed from the team ASAP, does way more harm than good.

Squad player at best at a club our size.
He wouldn’t get near the squads if the 98/99 team or the 07/08 team let alone be a guaranteed starter and club captain.

I feel sorry for him, it’s not his fault that United paid that kind of money but honestly he’s a liability now and in the long term he shouldn’t be in the first team plans of the new manager.

He has to be one of the worst ever captains of Man Utd. I don’t dislike him personally as it’s not his fault but 80m was an appalling waste of money!

He was never known for his speed but with him turning 29 next month I wonder if he can recover to his normal slowness. This might be his new level at his build and age now, he's been played and played to get his fitness back but all season he's been sluggish and can't recover his mistakes. He looks like he was wading through 4 feet of water and what's he doing there anyway, it's the same shit we saw against Pool and during the 6-1 Spurs loss.

A flawed buy to begin with, I think we need to look at faster defenders and let this guy go before petrification sets in at 31. Easter Island will demand his return but won't even pay for shipping.

The offside block tells you everything you need to know about Maguire.

It's embarrassing that such a wreck is the United captain.

Clubs make fecks ups in the transfer market (us especially) or overpay for shite. It happens. But to stick with Maguire as club captain of one of the biggest teams in the world is an absolute pisstake.

Irrationally sick of his little sad face whenever we concede. Hate his post-match interviews after a shit result. Feels as if we will never associate him with good times.

It`s like something died inside of him. Mostly just jogging around like a zombie. Feckin Laurent Blanc looked more alive when he was here. We desperately need another cb if Ralf doesn`t trust Victor.

Almost stuttering when he's talking in the post match interview about the goal we conceded

Yes a club can make a mistake in the transfer market, but persisting with that mistake is the definition of insanity

i don't blame Maguire, I blame the club for trying to force it to work when it's clear it won't.

Rio: Maybe it's the hangover from the Euro's

Pundits still peddling with this shit

As much as Fellaini wasn't a key figure or leader...he is this decade's Fellaini.

No matter what from this point, he is Ole's guy who never should have:

1) Been subject of an £80m transfer
2) Made captain long before he earned his stripes
3) Starts regardless of how he performs

Aside from Shaw playing them on, he was next on the list.

He went charging in for a ball he was never going to win, got spun and left them a free run at goal.

Was the only player to totally mistime the run for our freekick, realised he'd completely bottled it & tried to get back onside, then realised he couldn't get back on so he decided to just bump into Rodriguez & get our goal disallowed like a total moron, despite us having a goal against us disallowed for the exact same thing a few games back. Flew in like a pillock to let them get a free run at our goal & then gets outpaced by a 32 year old that had never been blessed with pace in the first place. Then he gets the chance to score the winner in the last minute but he closes his eyes and turns around so the ball literally goes out for a goalkick off his sodding back rather than his head.

He is costing us week in week out. 5th choice centre back of everyone is fit.

If thats your take, dont ever go into coaching. If Shaw has been correctly positioned it would've been offiside. Not Maguires fault that Shaw fecks up the offside line.

Of course Rodriguez will get behind him then when the LB fecks up the line
I love how you’re so condescending about this.

He’s absolutely at fault considering he’s rushing into fecking no man’s land to try and win the ball. But yeah let’s blame Shaw for keeping the Burnley player onside.

Please don’t go into coaching.

He's made an even bigger lump than him look like ASM or someone, how has he even managed that. His brain is on .25x speed.

Any chance you could stop with this approach to a simple disagreement?
Worst thing is, the poster is clearly wrong. Maguire creates a massive gap but going for a random ball and taking himself and McTomminay out of the game. He does this time after time. It’s just brainless.

Its cringe this thread. Blaming the CB for a draw against Burnley. We should've scored 4 and buried this game, yet lets blame the centre back because he's the shape goat.

Cringe and lack of football knowledge by alot of fans.

If Chelsea can drop the most expensive goalkeeper why can't we? Maguire is just shit.
Because the club indulge mediocrity, see the poster below. We did it with our manager for 3 years, we’ve done so with multiple players for the past decade.

There are posters in here still blaming Mykonos as if Spurs - Away, Southampton-Home, Bournemouth - Home weren’t clear signs in the short ‘Project Restart’ period beforehand. Back to Kepa, he was given 2 seasons & rightly deemed not good enough, here Manchester United are still paying Juan Mata. Maguire is at the right club to be indulged. He scored against some part-timers for England & it was lapped up by some in here as yet another corner turned when he’s been steadily going backwards since day one.

Top Red nominee after today’s debacle goes to. . .

Should the attack have done better, yes but this is the Maguire thread. The thread for our £80mil captain whose mistake led to the goal we conceded in a 1-1 draw. Say the attack scores 3 today, how does that makes Maguires performance any less abhorrent.

Take your football snobbery elsewhere lad, you’ve had a stinker. ‘lack of football knowledge’ as if strikers scoring makes him a better defender.

I’m not giving him an excuse. He made a mistake- we got punished. No excuse. I’m not interested in his price tag. It’s irrelevant. He made a mistake you do not expect of a man united captain; but- our attackers are making just as many and more and that is as much part the problem. We can’t win games 1-0 we haven’t been able to for years:
