I don't get the OTT criticisms. It's always difficult playing against Memphis Depay's backup :wenger:

Shocking defending. I would have forgive that shocking defending if he score that last chance but then again he's been missing so many headers in his career here.

With Bailly you get some world class moments littered with some unfathomable ones, albeit entertaining to watch, down to some horror moves that may or may not result in goals. However, you can hold a high line as he is absolutely rapid and great at defending one on one.

Lindelöf is not quite my cup of tea as he has two major weaknesses in his body strength and heading of the ball. However, he is able to ping some lovely balls over the top, and he is mostly quite stable - you tend to know his limitations.

With Maguire, you know his clear weaknesses, mainly his lack of acceleration (not slow, but complete lack), non-existent agility and trampoline head. He wins a few headers, but he surely makes more mistakes than Bailly that result in goals? He is lucky not to be sent off more than he actually is as he is often too late into challenges, nor can he ever hope to catch up to a player when (not if) they get past him. His positioning isn't great either. Surely, he should behind the other two at this stage.

Varane is indisputably first choice.

Really think he's the worst CB we have brought. For the fee paid and the expectations, he has been a major let down. Never seen a CB cost us so many goals in one season, all that while wearing the captains armband.

We need to take a loss and move him on, we are going nowhere with him in the team. But we won't. We will cost the next manager more goals, impact our gamepland and stink it up while pretending to act like a leader.

Maybe it's the emotions or maybe hyperbole on my part but I've never seen a defender get turned as easily as him, whenever I see him get beaten and then chase alongside the striker I jist assume it's gonna be a shot on goal.
Its not emotions. Its not the first time this has happened.

Amateurish defending for that goal. Didn't need to close down their striker because a) the through pass available to Burnley was offside because Varane held his line, and b) McTominay was in position to close down.

Also, did he close his eyes on that last chance we had or something? That was a relatively free header, for a professional. No deflection. If he'd just stayed on course to meet that header, he'd gotten good contact on it. Instead, it bounced of his shoulders, like something you see schoolboys do when they're starting out and learning to head the ball.

Absolute joke of a player.

He’s really really bad. It has to be Lindelof and Varane.

Made Weghorst, who is atrocious, look like the white Drogba.

He makes average/shite players look mercurial every week.

It takes something special to be constantly surrounded by footballers and STILL standout as being so fecking thick.

 That picture makes my blood boil.

At this point we should start a GoFundMe campaign to raise enough cash for the club to just write him of.

Not hyperbolic at all. I don’t really watch enough of other teams but I genuinely can’t remember Evans reaching these depths.

He makes the ghost of Laurent Blanc that turned up for us look like a Rolls Royce, he’s terrible.

Everyone has that member of the family that you're forced to love or like, because they're there, and you just can't get rid of them. So, you may as well co-exist with them, for the sake of an easy life. A bit like a racist uncle, or that older cousin who is a bit of a bully. Or a lot of a bully. Or just a knob.

That's our 'Arry. I like him because he's there.

Really? I love all member of my family. It's very concerning if you have someone you are forced to love in your family. Must be your step sibling or step parent.

Every manager post-SAF has a signing that truly symbolizes them and their reign at the club.

Moyes - Fellaini
Van Gaal - Schweinsteiger
Jose - Lukaku
Ole - Maguire

A player nowhere near good enough, but he is the United captain and the most expensive CB ever.

Neville once judged a Rooney performance, "silent domination" to distract from how terrible he was at the time.

Maguire's performances are a loud abomination.

Evans and Jones weren't this bad.

I'm not even mad at him. This is just his level. I don't think he is capable of any better.

He would look decent in a mid-lower table team maybe.

Olé or whoever decided to threw that 85 M for him is a criminal.

It's not emotion though, is it? Objectively, he gets spun easily and he invites by how he shapes up to the man he's facing.

It's truly dire defending and he's a liability.

We can't aim for anything this season with such a blundering player in a key position who compromises the whole backline with his errors.

He not only takes himself out of plays, he exposes his keeper, his partner at the back and the midfielder in front of him. He's a big problem for us.

Its cringe this thread. Blaming the CB for a draw against Burnley. We should've scored 4 and buried this game, yet lets blame the centre back because he's the shape goat.

Cringe and lack of football knowledge by alot of fans.

I had a job interview the other day, at a place I really wanted to work. Going in I was confident, had done my research and met the job description. Completed a 90 minute exercise with the team I would be managing with great success. Then I got grilled for an hour by the CEO who was asking some really tricky questions that caught me off-guard. An ex-military type, he had dredged up some old textbooks that I wasn't fresh on (although arguably could have been) and stumped me a few times.

I left the interview 3 hours later, confidence deflated, and feeling like a failure who wasn't good enough for the job I dreamed of. Impostor syndrome coursing through my veins like battery acid.

Then I remembered that Harry Maguire is the most expensive defender of all time and Captain of Manchester United. So thanks Harry, for inspiring me to keep chasing my dreams, despite my obvious inability to realise them. If you can do it, so can I.

Well he was at fault for the lone goal we conceded.

As if this guy is our captain. :(

Turns like a fecking dump truck. Stop pissing about Ralf and please drop him for Lindelof.

Laughable yet again. Captain of this football club - astounding.

Is it just me who thinks he should stay in his position, let Varane get the first tackle in, read the game and situation and defend it? Instead of clumsily diving in and leaving a massive gap and being out of position.

Think he was generally good for us in 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, though he had some periods of bad performances over the course of those 2 seasons. Defended him back then but this season Maguire has been really bad. Ralf should drop him next few games. Start Lindelof and Varane and if they do well, that's the pairing for Atletico games, assuming both remain fit for those games.

He needs to be dropped and sold in the summer.

He's such a tragic player. I'm on edge whenever he has the ball or the ball is within 25 feet of him.

Captain ffs.

Cost us first goal. Was caught for their goal. and abysmal rest of the time.

Truly a performance of a lifetime. This guy is our captain.

The one team he should dominate against is Burnley and they sent him back to Leicester

just an expensive overpriced Michael Keane. Not United quality and definitely not Captain.!

Rangnick keeps starting him and Rashford

Well he was at fault for the lone goal we conceded.

If thats your take, dont ever go into coaching. If Shaw has been correctly positioned it would've been offiside. Not Maguires fault that Shaw fecks up the offside line.

Of course Rodriguez will get behind him then when the LB fecks up the line

Bollocks. Its his job to keep out the opposition and he keeps screwing up.

His awareness and decision making for a supposed top defender is absolutely atrocious.

He deserves to be called out because seemingly the only reason that he continues to be a starter is that Ole made a crazy decision to make him Captain.

Worst United Captain in my memory.

Made a mistake. We got punished. The attackers made far more mistakes today: and vs boro etc

Ole aint the manager, Ralph is.
And Shaw fecked up the offside line, but you do you. Blaming a CB for a draw against Burnley who are buttom of the table.....
